    SOA is no respecter of GPA. I personally believe anyone sitting for these SOA exams would be challenged at some point in the journey irrespective of how intelligent you are. And getting over those challenges is just priceless!!
    Congratulations on your passes Ruby!!
    Nice to hear your experience.

    Congratulations. However, dont get too overwhelmed by the excitement.
    Dont want to scare u though, but FM is really really the beginning, as well as P
    One thing I would recommend is to take more exams, before graduating....
    And Do Not Give Up, cuz it would be passing and failing for the next decade.

      Thanks for reaching out Jayanth! I used the study material from COACHING ACTUARIES. So coaching actuaries have subscriptions like ADAPT that is mostly the questions and exam practice problem focused and the LEARN part which is the notes and study manual in video format inclusive. So everything about my studies was coaching actuaries and I bought both the LEARN +ADAPT . I hope this answered your question

    • @jayanthj9155
      @jayanthj9155 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rjayspeaks i just checked out the coaching actuaries website. And I can afford 45 days subscription. Is it sufficient to prepare? And is coaching actuaries only for problems solving or do they teach concepts? Bte thanks for your reply 🙏

    • @rjayspeaks
      @rjayspeaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not sure if the 45 days was for ADAPT + LEARN or just ADAPT. I also want to be sure if you clicked that you are a student since that reduces the amount that you pay. If you can only afford 45 days, then I would advise you get a textbook like ACTEX or ASM manual to study the material and when you are done with all the required syllabus (remember SOA has made some changes to the FM syllabus by taking some out so you don’t need to learn all the old stuff so find the new syllabus). Once you are done you can buy Coaching actuaries ADAPT and practice quizzes and exams several times till you get a good earned level. Solve all past questions in coaching actuaries too. For your sake I can do a short video on how to find past questions on Coaching actuaries account. This should also work if you solve questions seriously for 45days. They explain the solution manual to the questions and add videos to the solution also! That’s the good part

      @@rjayspeaks thanks for your valuable suggestions. Yes I chose student. Right now I am using interest theory by Joe, as recommended by soa as study material.

    • @rjayspeaks
      @rjayspeaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jayanthj9155 that is perfect then . When you complete the manual for the “require syllabus “(don’t study what has been taken out) then you move to ADAPT and solve consistently and carefully. If you have questions with understanding some solutions you can reach me on LinkedIn (Ruby Kodiah) and I can help since I still remember my concepts for now 😅

    Congrats RJay! Wishing you success in your future exams.
    I started solving practice questions for fm some days ago, and it hasn't been easy... I'm in earned level 2. And my exam August 11th. Do you think I will be prepared before exam day? I can only afford to do one practice question per day. How long did it take you to reach EL 7? Please I need tips on how to maximise the one month I have before my exam. Thanks!

    • @rjayspeaks
      @rjayspeaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for reaching out Helen! I can see you have about a month to the exam. I don’t get it when you say “I can do one practice question a day “, did you mean just one question or one Exam? If it’s one exam that is okay! If one question, I am sorry to say that isn’t enough for your preparation. Sacrifice what you need to sacrifice so you can make time for this exam since it’s VERY important!!!! I took a minimum of 10 exams. It should be more than that. If possible, can you message me on LinkedIn( Ruby Kodiah) or if you have my contact just hit me up since I have more to tell you and TH-cam wouldn’t be a better place to say it all😅 Will wait for your message to help you in your preparation. Lemme know if you are not able to still find me😊

    • @helentolu3502

      I actually meant one exam, which is 35 questions. I initially thought I could do two exams per day, but it's not feasible.
      Sure, I'd love us to talk in depth about it. I already sent you a connection request on LinkedIn.
      Thanks!

      Hi Helen. My little submission. It’s not about the number of practice exams you do but the understanding of the concept is also important. I will advice after taking a practice exam, identify your weak areas and build on them by taking short quizzes only on those areas, since coaching actuaries can allow you do that.
      When you are comfortable with those areas, then you take the practice exam again and then the cycle continues. When you keep doing that you will see an improvement in your earned level.
      Thank you and all the best

    Hello Rjay. After passing an exam online. What do you physically get? Like, what do you get to show or prove you passed please?

    • @rjayspeaks
      @rjayspeaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay ! I am guessing you mean an SOA exam. If so then for exam P and Exam FM you get an email indicating whether you passed or failed within 5- 10mins of taking the exam. For some advanced exams you know after some time. But for the early exams, you almost instantly get an email telling you how you did. And if you did not pass, you will be told which areas you need to improve on for Exam FM and Exam P. I hope it helped

      Unfortunately I don’t have any handy material since I used coaching actuaries. Try and see if you can get the Actex or ASM manual online which may be cheaper or order the hard copy book online! I hope this helps

  • @antoniodev5167

    Please answer. I only have an Associate's Degree in Accounting and Computer Science. I am personally and strongly into statistics and is looking to be a fellow in the future definitely. Will i get hired as a junior actuary with just my 2 degrees ? My degrees are unfortunately not a bachelor's.

    • @rjayspeaks
      @rjayspeaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say it differs from company to company. I don’t know if you have taken any of the actuarial exams but that is one common requirement for most entry level actuarial roles. The Bachelors you took might not count so much compared to the exams. If you have the exams passed, great! I will advice you check the company sites for requirements. Some may say a minimum of two, others one and sometimes at least you should be preparing to write an exam even though you haven’t passed yet

    • @rjayspeaks
      @rjayspeaks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check the company's website if they allow for the associate degree you hold. Most job requirements state them. It differs from one company to another. I hope it helps

    Is IABA available for blacks not in USA

    • @rjayspeaks
      @rjayspeaks  ปีที่แล้ว

      Does not in the US include Canada? If yes, then yes if not then nope. So at the time of application you should have gained admission in either Canada or US as an international student if you are residing outside the above countries. I hope this answered your question?
