Thanks for sharing your trip. Well done... what a nice trip. We live in the brentwood area,, hope run into yall at outback or somewhere.. my son has a 2007 wrangler x black,, and my toy is a 98 cherokee forrest green still stock...
HA! When you said that you were hoping to get to camp early on the first night, I thought, " Well I hope he is better at that we are!!" Then you were cooking supper at 10:30, and I thought, "Yep...that is about like our early nights, too!!!" LMBO! Looked like a pretty good adventure! We aren't far from Dalton, GA, so we need to go check this trail out. Thanks for sharing!
Yep, we saw some good sites early on but were not ready to stop for the night. Then when we were ready there was nothing to be found. However, we ended up with a beautiful spot in a clearing that was right on the AT which my buddy Brad was hoping we would see on the trip. Win win!
Nice vid. It takes a long time to drive from Dalton to Lake Consauga. I’ve lived in Dalton all my life and have driven it a bunch. That first day was a tad ambitious. 😉
Very cool! I enjoy that trail more and more each time I do it. This time around with everybody we had I made decision that would make the trip fun for everyone. I myself would have preferred to just stay on the trail for 3 days.
We got off the trail early to head to Helen before it was too late in the day. We are on a main paved road. Not exactly sure where it is but I’ll try to find it.
I love in North Georgia & recently acquired a couple of TJ's. I really want to do this ride sometime. What is the name of that overlook area? So cool of a spot!
If you’re asking about the overlook early on the second morning that’s Mountaintown Overlook. It’s to the northeast of the Potatopatch intersection on FS64.
Man, I have no idea. When you enter the trail on the Dalton side you will come across it pretty quick. There are actually several areas with those types of views.
Lake Conasauga Overflow campground. This is on the west side of the trail not far from Dalton. 34.854318, -84.649489 Also, check my video from a couple years ago for this trail. There’s more information. Also, around 6-8pm start settling into a camp for the night. They tend to fill quickly as the night goes on.

Yeah, we should meet up. I am working on a new project now and we are heading out this Monday.

Nice video. We love the Georgia Traverse, but I didn’t recognize the spot where you had the picnic in the river. Mind sharing?
