He truly DOES only make "recommendations" but those recommendations carry much weight. I've been in the ins biz for 31 years. Many of those years working on the carrier side. Now I'm a Public Adjuster. He can get things done if he truly wants to get them done. And, knowing that is half the battle. I've heard, "I only make recommendations" so many times I could puke. It's a cop out, plain and simple. My bet is, after that tongue lashing he got in this video, things started to happen. Oh, how I would love to get a claim that was denied for no storm related opening with a gaping hole in the top like that one had.
The fact that the insurance business in America is a Hundreds Billion/Trillion dollar industry, yet they fight and out right refuse to pay out claims... while CEO's and Executives take home MILLIONS and MILLIONS of Dollars in bonuses... I personally think there needs to be more oversight and enforcement from the government regarding these insurance companies.
I agree with everything you said except the government part. Can you show me one example of where the government did things fairly, correctly and timely? It's best to keep the government out of as much as possible.
I worked for Progressive for 7 years and recently quit after seeing endless examples of frivolous spending and ridiculous bonuses being paid out to executives. They advise their vehicle estimators to look for downgrades on vehicles (minor stains on head liners, possible leaks, yellow head lamps, etc) on total loss vehicles in order to lower the ACV on them and pay out less. Their priority is pandering over peoples pro-nouns and finding ways to lower customers payouts.
5 years ago I knew it was time for me to retire when I was in a meeting with a lot of top dogs. One executive said “we can train monkeys to do adjusting. ”. I retired after 20 plus years of being a IA. Back in the day you had full responsibility to find coverage and you had to have background in construction, nowadays they hire bar tenders, Walmart greeters, car sales man, nothing wrong with these skills but they have no knowledge of constructions mixed with “deny, delay and defend coverage”. no longer do you need an adjuster License to run claims because they are nothing more then a glorified photo taker for a guy inside a office denying coverage. Back in the day we stood toe to toe with contractors until we both came to the same conclusion on what was needed to make the policy holder while again.
6 years as an independent adjuster for companies and homeowners, and I can definitely say there are a few big companies who have their employees deny things that shouldn’t as a matter of business and will pay only if the building owner fights… 😔

Iv been working on roofs for over 10yrs from luging shingles to running lines but thank God for ppl like this guy for standing up for families that r homeless who insurance companys don't care about but will take money from them
I live in Oklahoma, so you already know where this is going. Two years ago we had an EF1 cut right by our house. It ripped up huge swaths of shingles and the underlayment, but structurally nothing was wrong. I called the insurance company no more than a half hour after the storm had passed. You know, trying to do the right and responsible thing. Nope. The insurance agency asked me right off the bat, "so was there a bunch of wind with the tornado?", to which I replied, Yes. They proceeded to tell me that 100% of all repairs was on me because they don't cover wind damage. It was a F*****G tornado! I got a roofer who deals with these lowlife pieces of sh!t and he went to town on them. We got to the point of taking them to court along with 5 other neighbors before the adjuster came out and claimed 'it was a paperwork mistake', and they fixed our roofs. I say fixed, not replaced. State Farm, Progressive, Geico, etc... are nothing but legal scams here in America. Adjusters lie from the time they arrive on site until they leave, and they get paid to do so. I've since learned how to repair my own roof and haven't looked back. These insurance adjusters belong in prison.
I don't don't know of an insurance policy that SF issues in Oklahoma that doesn't cover wind and/pr damage. Some insurance companies might not cover wind damage for homeowners who go to purchase for a house with an old roof until their roof is replaced. The structure should have been covered even if the roof was excluded. It sounds like a major screw up by the company. Especially so, to tell tornado victims that they have no coverage. Why don't you tell us who the actual company was? Also, don't by insurance from any company that doesn't have a local agent who will sit down with you a review in detail what their policy doesn't cover.
Watching these videos makes me glad I got out of the industry as soon as I saw how insurance actually worked. The contracts, adjusters, inspectors, and everyone else are employed to not pay the customer. They are there to make money for the company, the execs for their bonuses and the shareholders
thats how insurance works... and sadly its mandatory, so its pretty much a never ending supply of money for the insurance companies they will ALWAYS have customers
Sometimes letting people realize they are ignorant on a subject can be a very humbling and life changing experience for them, or yourself depending on which side your on
Well even then he keeps on saying "all I can do is make recommendations". You have to at least care enough in order to feel stupid. This guy didn't feel stupid... because he didn't care enough to. Not sure if that makes sense.... but anyway. The problem with insurance companies is that they look out for their shareholders, not their customers.
As a Canadien roofer for 35 years that inc people are nothing but bullcrap and hurt real people..It nice to see someone put pressure on them good frigging job
This happened so much with Insurance adjusters its absolutely ridiculous! All insurance companies do basically is steal your money bc when you have something go wrong & file a claim, they fight it to the T to not pay out!
@user-tt8ft1ii3x yeah, the insurance companies that try to weasel out of covering insured losses and damages. Anyone else who sells a product or service and then won't provide it is guilty of fraud and theft, but when insurance companies do it they cry about fraud when their entire business model amounts to fraud.
I have been an Insurance Adjuster for over 50 years and this crap is unbelievable! This claim should have been written up and submitted within 10 days MAX! These companies want to increase the deductibles and then nickle and dime then insureds only because of $$. These people should have secured an attorney and submitted a sworn proof of loss for the full policy limits. These need to go to court so that treble damages can be awarded. This is a total cluster f**k!
Wow... You stay calm and never lose focus. No excuses. Redirecting them to the bad paperwork, bad inspection and no conscience. I'm absolutely flooded. This is so sad. You are a true warrior! I'm so thankful your helping and keeping them accountable!
Adjusters suck man. We got one up in Pittsburgh that refuses to call anything hail. He often gets out of the car and says “there is no hail here” before even looking at the roof 😂
I hate that . I can show you some ways to help your homeowners . Best thing is how you document damage and train your clients to protect their interests . Always have a fair and reasonable estimate ready for adjuster with eagle view and good pics to make his job easy . If he’s still an asshole and the damage is legit then just get some coverage extended in the form of repairs . Then work reinspect process if that doesn’t work go to appraisal . You will win if there’s legitimate damage 99% of time

Insurance companies lobbyed to make everyone have mandatory insurance or be penalized. The problem is when you talk to them they always say it's our policy for this and that, there's always fees involved etc. Making rules as they go. The supreme Court has ruled policy's ordinance statues and rules are not laws or lawful. All these terms are contract terminology as all courts operate in Martine law. The USC code is also written in Martine law.
Seems to me that the carrier has the ultimate duty to respond in a timely manner if no coverage denial was issued. Going back and forth with an independent adjuster is a waste of time. The insurance agent should be playing a role here as well.
Another bad adjuster giving us a bad name…. There are lots of good ones out there unfortunately there are plenty of bad ones too. Roofer did a nice job explaining damages and how coverage would apply. Keep advocating!

Ive had American Family ins and have had three roofs and all new windows replaced over 22 years. They have been great as far as Im concerned. Ive always been amazed at the disparity between what I got and what other neighbors received. I remeber one time i got a new roof and he neighbor next to me got three shingles. Or I got new windows and they got nothing but we both had the same windows, same builder and are the same age.
Field adjuster here. I have no idea what this adjusters deal is. It’s not too hard to write an undisputed estimate pay and supplement. The only think I can think of is the engineers are recommending denials. At that point coverage is very iffy. But months is kinda long. Even for a large loss claim. Entertaining video overall.
This sucks. I'm dealing with this right now after a Tornado and Hail damage. Adjuster marked hail damage all over the house, HVAC condenser, chimney, siding, fascias, screens, all metals on the roof, the exhaust vents along the peak of the roof. Then when it came to the roof itself and the shingles, he said he couldn't tell it was hail damage and said it could be normal wear. Lol Keep in mind our roof is only 8 years old. New for a roof. He said he has never seen a roof this new wear, but he couldn't 100% say it was from the hail and storm. After marking everything else as hail damage. Lol The contractor laughed his ass off and they are going back and forth with it right now. Have a 2nd adjuster coming soon. These adjusters probably get bonuses for keeping claims down. So he was basically like ya, you have lots of hail damage and I'm going to cover everything thats relatively cheap, but not the expensive part. Luckily I personally know my agent and he is involved on our side.
I'm an insurance agent and I will absolutely go to back for a client, if an adjuster is not acting right. I try to watch videos like this because I'm not out in the field during a claim and can only go off of my clients word and the adjuster. As many times as I've seen an unreasonable adjuster, I've seen twice as many unreasonable homeowners. I had a guy who switched his insurance to us in July of last year. His previous policy had ACV for roof coverage whereas ours was Full Replacement (look it up). He found hail damage on the roof. Our adjuster agreed there was hall damage but the last reported hail storm in the area was June. The client sent me documentation trying to prove there was a hail storm since he set up the policy with me. His own "proof" literally agreed with my adjuster that the last known hail storm in his area was indeed June. I explained this to him and he still couldn't accept the fact that the coverage would've applied to his previous policy with the ACV coverage
Lol you’re commenting on a video where the insurance representative is the villain and the contractor is the “superhero”. You then comment about how “durrrr not all of us are bad” and then get mad when the mob doesn’t agree with you?
My parents had to file their first claim about a year ago because of water damage in their kitchen. They are Spanish speaking senior citizens and don’t know how to handle these issues. They have had State Farm for almost 35 years and never had to file a claim. So they hired a lawyer to represent them and got their full kitchen redone and received money on top of that after paying the lawyer
@@Boojyman Of course all they want is money, that's why people start a business! Obviously if he negotiates with the insurance company and gets the claim covered after the adjuster is trying to deny the claim he should get paid.
I was a insurance adjuster for 12 years and came from a construction background, I handled all sorts of inspections including large loss, I don’t know for sure if this adjuster did his job thoroughly or not but can guarantee that I did on all claims I worked, they way I viewed it is that it was not my money so I will recommend replacing when there is obvious damage but with that being said I have had several claims that I did everything in my power to resolve and should have been a no brainer but went 9-12 months without any communication with management, you are not allowed to call a manager you can only send a internal message which they refuse to respond and if you get pushy you will get in trouble by different management telling you that your claims will be taken away and sent to another assignment, you are paid by the claim so they would threaten to take food off your plate for not just sitting back and allowing them to drag their feet. Basically the adjusters are the punching bag for the big insurance companies making all the money, also you make less money per claim if you deny it rather than pay but upper management gets bonuses for a certain amount of denied claims so they pay the policy holder less money, the adjuster that is there is getting paid less money and in return give out bonuses for the higher ups, reason I quit and now working back with construction mainly storm damage so I can fight these crooked big companies that think they can abuse the little guy.
I'm currently fighting with State Farm! All of the kick back adjusters laughed in my face and the roofers. Told me that my roof is in excellent condition. My roof is damaged! Hail and wind damages. Section of the roof that is missing ! And another area is leaking!!! The unprofessional adjusters laughed at me saying " this type of wood can take on water"....the wood is inside my home!!!!!. Nothing but lies and denial of my claims from State Farm. As these adjusters went to go eat lunch let's see....I discussed going to Burger King and another to Calico Calico County....my home is still not repaired and my roof has not been replaced! I have been yelled at and threatened by these adjusters! A formal complaint was filed but it did not make a damn. I hired Structural engineer company and a LLC engineer for a moisture inspection. All reports state of my roof damages and in need of replacement! I'm truly sick of this! State Farm denied all of my claims !!!!stating my roof is in excellent condition!
Thank gosh these families have you fighting for them! It's truly sickening how much money these insurance companies make but yet screw their clients over at the 1st sign of needing help 🤬
Love the video! My city does final home build inspections, but when something is done wrong they make the home owner pay for the repair. It’s sickening.
Fun fact…most people in Louisiana call their attorney and have them contact the insurance company when they have claims to file. If that tells you anything.
I own a service and repair plumbing company and we DO NOT work for insurance companies just for this reason. We work with the building owner then they have to deal with the insurance company. Adjusters just want to save the company money and the more they save them the more they make. They DELAY and DENY.
On our hail damaged roof, we had to go as far as getting a mediator to resolve it. Even then the roofer didn't get everything they should have, and insurance wanted additional photos of before approving any more money to be released. Problem was, the work was completed, duh. So they went back and forth arguing over pictures. WHAT A PAIN it all was.
Having been a roofer for over 40 years own my own company. The adjusters where I live would never even talk to a roofer. I know where I live the adjusters are usually almost always fair.
I’m floored by the level of organization and the all encompassing approach that you used to corner the engineer and get him to admit that he missed several deadlines that he set. I’m sure there’s a lesson that he learned and he probably won’t be trapping himself with his own words next time. Sandy was pretty bad in NYC and lots of people lost everything. Then the insurance companies were doing the same things like this example. The engineers said they didn’t see any damage when houses were clearly knocked off their foundations. Some companies just closed their shops and left. All those people who had to pay insurance for the mortgage company for all those decades and when they needed help the insurance companies just left them holding the bag. Thousands of people, billions of dollars in damages and most got little if any money. We are still paying for the damages from Sandy 12 years on, the subways are being renovated and the Federal government will pay for the new Tunnel for Metro North into Penn station. You are doing a better job of holding the insurance company inspectors feet to the fire than most of us could do. Please let us know the results!
The ACT of GOD. Is what storm damage is all about. I was really good at dealing with the adjusters. They would show up and I already have the roof chalked up lol 😂. I had a 90% go rate.
Sounds like this large loss is way above that adjusters head. Good for you for fighting for this HOA. I'm a building consultant working for a company that, ironically, represents the major insurance companies and things like this, the delays, lack of scope knowledge, etc. really tick me off. They have to do right by the client when it is warranted.
Dam that’s why I really hate adjusters. My home was hit by a tornado 3 years ago and the insurance company would not fix hole in my side. I still have patches in my siding

This thing about creating drama for the purpose of TH-cam views isn't getting the homeowners in their houses any faster either.
Insurance is theft , we're required to have it, they get to choose if they want to pay a claim. It should be the other way around, it use to be you chose to get insurance, and insurance companies took care of you. But when it's mandatory there's no reason to take care of the customer. Because they have to have it.
I had a roof with shingles blown off and roof was tarped for 2/3rd area. The first adjuster didn't respond for month saying they were busy. In email exchanges the roofer negotiating blew his top and then quit. I subsequently retained a loss adjuster. Total time to settlement was 1yr.

I guess carriers in Alabama don’t come after y’all for unlicensed Public adjusting? All this policy interpretation talk could bring charges in some places. I mean, get after it and all, but be careful bud..
You are 100% right . I have a small fortune invested into the restoration of this property . The charges should be brought on the insurance company . I have the AOB and have full rights to discuss everything in the video . My attorney Evan Wolf reviewed the video and everything is 100% compliant . This intimidation is what insurance companies use to silence contractors . It’s not right. That’s why you can’t be scared to get the contracts signed you need and do what’s best for the policyholder .
Insurance Adjusters and Inspectors need to be a completely separate profession. The adjusters should not be employed by the Insurance company.... that's a conflict of interest....
The carriers uses mostly independent adjusting firms to handle normal storm claims when a big cat hits. However on larger claims like this they use their company adjusters (guys they know that will Deny, delay covers.). The majority of adjusters today have no clue about construction or how to find coverage within the policy, instead they are taught over and over what is not covered and when they go out to inspect storm damage they can only focus on no coverage as they have not be taught how to find coverage. I’m started adjusting 20 years ago, we were taught how to find coverage, we were also builders, contractors, GC or subs when we were hired. Nowadays, they hire bar tenders, movie theater managers, car salesman, Walmart greeters, etc. they hire unqualified people now so that they don’t have to pay the adjusters as much. We used to make 200k on a slow year now they are lucky if they make 60k a year plus they have to pay for hotel, meals, traveling etc and tax. They may walk away with 20k when it’s all said and done.
Good job on getting him to admit to their mistakes . This would be an easy win in court . Clearly the company is avoiding to pay for what they know is due .
This is why you go with an insurance company like USAA if you are able to. Ive had them for 38 years now and NEVER had a single issue. Car accident your car is in the shop within one or two days, issue with your home an adjuster is out to your house that day or the next. They took care of me when I low speed rolled my 99 cheek Cherokee cut me a solid check sure maybe selling it I could if maybe a little more than they totalled it for but it was hassle free then blue book price. Not a goose chase

@Medieval you don’t even believe that nonsense you wrote.
It’s truly disgusting
I agree with everything you said except the government part. Can you show me one example of where the government did things fairly, correctly and timely? It's best to keep the government out of as much as possible.
They get paid off by these insurance companies. They're not going to do szhight.
Lol it's the government oversight that caused it 🤣😂😅😆 ....😢
Free market doesn't usually allow crap companies to exist.

Oh my dude be a Hero and Do IT!!!
I was a roofer like that.
Yukon/Mustang here...screw big insurance. Con artists 100%
Adjusters are under the directive of the company, so not just adjusters
You should live in a area not known for being tornado alley
Watching these videos makes me glad I got out of the industry as soon as I saw how insurance actually worked. The contracts, adjusters, inspectors, and everyone else are employed to not pay the customer. They are there to make money for the company, the execs for their bonuses and the shareholders
thats how insurance works... and sadly its mandatory, so its pretty much a never ending supply of money for the insurance companies
they will ALWAYS have customers
Best beef on the internet. Adjuster vs contractor
I love how you make him feel stupid in the kindest and direct way possible.
He IS stupid. He didn't have to go far.

This happened so much with Insurance adjusters its absolutely ridiculous! All insurance companies do basically is steal your money bc when you have something go wrong & file a claim, they fight it to the T to not pay out!
well while thats true there are plenty of people trying to commit fraud too
@user-tt8ft1ii3x yeah, the insurance companies that try to weasel out of covering insured losses and damages.
After the video it took another 9 months to get an estimate that denied 90% of damages
It's "go to bat".

Correction it was the adjuster discussing where they were going to eat instead of inspecting my home!
Experienced because of unfortunate circumstances but smart for...
I own a service and repair plumbing company and we DO NOT work for insurance companies just for this reason. We work with the building owner then they have to deal with the insurance company. Adjusters just want to save the company money and the more they save them the more they make. They DELAY and DENY.
Reverse insurance fraud and insurance companies gets away with it
On our hail damaged roof, we had to go as far as getting a mediator to resolve it. Even then the roofer didn't get everything they should have, and insurance wanted additional photos of before approving any more money to be released. Problem was, the work was completed, duh. So they went back and forth arguing over pictures. WHAT A PAIN it all was.

This has to to be against the law. To delay repairs and keep people out of their homes like this is egregious.
It is and they will pay for it
That need to put laws in place that don't allow insurance companies to get out of paying

Insurance companies are the same people who deny medical claims if you take an “unauthorized” aspirin on the day you get a procedure done.
Insurance Adjusters and Inspectors need to be a completely separate profession. The adjusters should not be employed by the Insurance company.... that's a conflict of interest....
They also should be from the profession not someone who doesnt know squat about that profession
Not a roofer, but a painter, done some insurance jobs, you're a absolute beast. I applaud you

I loved every Sec of this video
Thank God there's men like you out there fighting these bastards cuz this is crazy
Our pleasure! thanks for watching
Good job on getting him to admit to their mistakes . This would be an easy win in court . Clearly the company is avoiding to pay for what they know is due .
Yes thank you I agree . We will see this case is being handled in the courts now .
@@LeeHaightYT Do you plan to post updates on this situation?
This is why you go with an insurance company like USAA if you are able to. Ive had them for 38 years now and NEVER had a single issue. Car accident your car is in the shop within one or two days, issue with your home an adjuster is out to your house that day or the next. Videos like these are AWESOME to pressure these lousy companies to do whats right and owed! Great video
USAA def one of the better residential property owner insurance companies.
They took care of me when I low speed rolled my 99 cheek Cherokee cut me a solid check sure maybe selling it I could if maybe a little more than they totalled it for but it was hassle free then blue book price. Not a goose chase
This guy is the Jon taffer of insurance adjusters
Love that guy thanks for the compliment
This is why people get independent appraisers and adjusters and have attorneys help file these large claims. ALL insurance companies are only concerned about what they can deny, and padding their own wallets.
