    Good review. They look great on your Tundra. I ordered the RB20 slim. One guy below was not happy said they don't fit high and tight and that is the main reason I was getting those? I have a Tundra too. Yours look real high and tight. I have the exact same nerf bars you had on your Tacoma. They are just too low but they look good. I have 2022 TRD Sport in Lunar Rock. My 4th Toyota Truck. Like it so far.

      Awesome truck, I got to drive one for the day and I’m sure it will be my next, maybe even the hybrid. My only complaint is the exhaust note. I love the V8 sound. As for the running boards, yes the fit flush up against the cab. You are correct that the others hang to low, but they did work great for my height challenged wife. LOL

      So here is what I’ve heard from people that bought the Slim. The slims leave a gap between the cab and the step. People who bought them did not like the look. The wide RB20s that I have sit flush. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    good video. i have the rb20 boards in bedliner and have for about a year. only 3 things i don't like about them are 1. how it tapers and is wider in the front vs the back... i don't really like the way it looks. some people put them on backwards to taper the other way but i wish they were just straight front to back. 2. the brackets have the little U channel clamps that clamp the board to the brackets - i hate how the U or C channel is up. sand, dirt, all sorts of stuff always get caught in there all the time. even after you wash your truck there's always stuff stuck in there. 3. cost. i paid like 700 something bucks for them shipped with the bedliner finish. that's damn close to frame slider money.
    other than that they have been great. i stand on them for long periods of time messing with stuff. definitely catches a ton of rocks kicking up from the front tire. good runaway shopping cart protection too.

    • @828findadventure
      @828findadventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I agree with all of that. And yes $700 is darn close to slider money LOL. Thanks for commenting and if you haven't please subscribe I try to drop a video every week.

    I really like these. But, I met a guy who had them here in Canada with the truck liner coating. He liked them, but showed me how they were rusting after 3 years. Either way, they will be better than the AMP Research retracting boards I have that never worked.

    • @828findadventure
      @828findadventure  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mine have not rusted at all except for one little piece of hardware, and that was just surface rust. Must not have got coated properly, but a little Rust Oleum would take care of it. Now if you drive where they salt the roads all winter I would hit the bottom of them with undercoat. Thanks for watching.

    another question tho. where did you get those black tundra stickers for the side? did you paint them? or replace them?
    thanks :)

    • @828findadventure
      @828findadventure  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Those are emblem overlays. You can get them through Toyota, eBay, or Amazon. I also used 3M adhesion promoter to make them stick well. The price has gone up since I bought them but they sure make the truck look good.

    I bought the slim version for my tundra but was really disappointed that they don't fit as high and tight to the truck. They use different brackets for them and there was only enough hardware to use 3 mounts per side. I may still get the original rb20 since they look so good.

    • @828findadventure
      @828findadventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I got the RB20s I thought they were too wide but after a couple of days, they really grew on me, and protect the side of the truck from debris and shopping carts. Have you thought about shimming your running boards with spacers to bring them up closer to the cab? Just an idea. Thanks for commenting and if you haven't please subscribe, I got to drive a 22 Tundra this week for the day and I did a pretty detailed video on both the interior and exterior that I will upload this week.

    I love these steps. Only downside for me is the clearance that is lost because of the brackets. They hang down very low. I bent two on a Colorado trail, but only the bracket bent. Didn’t cause a dent to my truck, and the steps are still fine. If they could redesign the brackets so they don’t hang down so low, would definitely recommend.

    • @828findadventure
      @828findadventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel the same way about the brackets. They probably contribute to bad gas mileage as well. If I was a skilled welder I definitely would make my own brackets. Other than that I love the style and wide platform to stand on.

    • @828findadventure
      @828findadventure  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly it holds good when wet wearing any of my shoes, but I would presume if mud packed they would slide. That said it is a wide platform to step on. I believe they offer a rougher texture for the RB20s. Thanks for commenting and if you haven’t please subscribe.

    • @828findadventure
      @828findadventure  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could, but they are riveted on. I just covered them with Matte Black 3M wrap. If you drilled the rivet with a small bit you could probably remove them without causing damage, but you would have those two holes left on each side.
