You know what's worse? The beast era has had little to none representation in 20 YEARS, so that was the introduction of the character for an entire generation.
What's even worse is the probability of those who've either never heard of Beast Wars or never gave it a chance being even *_less_* willing to watch it due to this show's mostly crappy portrayals of the Maximals and Predacons. They may assume that the characters were *_always_* like this and just pretend the series doesn't even exist.
On the topic of the voices in this show, there was a post on the transformers subreddit a couple days ago by someone who worked at the animation studio in Japan. He mentioned in the comments that the voice acting in the Japanese dub of the WFC Trilogy was very good. I haven't heard it myself, but I looked into it and wouldn't at all be surprised if it was true. They brought back Beast Megatron and Optimus Primal's voice actors from the Japanese dub of Beast Wars to reprise their roles (not sure about the rest of the returning Beast Wars characters as tfwiki doesn't have that info, but they did bring back Cheetor's VA for the JP dub of Cyberverse so I wouldn't be surprised if they did here as well). Even for Optimus Prime, they brought back Tesshou Genda, a veteran Transformers voice actor who provided the Japanese voice for Optimus Prime in G1, Headmasters, and the live action movies. Cut to Garry Chalk speaking about his disappointment at not being asked to reprise his role for Kingdom or Rise of the Beasts, Peter Cullen and Frank Welker at that panel talking about how Netflix wouldn't hire them because they're unionised, and David Kaye saying on Twitter yesterday that he's not playing Megatron in Rise of the Beasts. Why is it that veteran Western Transformers voice actors are being treated so poorly recently compared to their Japanese counterparts?
Internacional dubs are usually not made by whoever made the show/film, there's usually an independent studio on the county who hire their own voice actors to work on it, unlike the original dubs that are made by whoever made the show. This is why the voice acting in basically every other language is better than the original English version, Hasbro is trying to cut costs while everyone else wants to make their job right.
Man I didn't know they brought back the original jp va from beast wars! I had to do a quick look see on netflix and you were right! Its pretty funny hearing dio from jojo speaking out of primal but I'm sure the Japanese fans appreciate it. I wish they did the same for the English speaking fans. They did change airrazor's voice to be female now because in the original series she was voiced by a dude in Japanese.
Basically, Netflix US doesn’t want to hire unionized voice actors, which most of the original voice actors for these characters are. This is why especially Peter Cullen has been getting shafted lately; they want his voice, but don’t want to pay him for it, so they get sound-alikes they can pay cheaper. Same goes for Frank Welker, David Kaye, and Gary Chaulk. They’re all union, and Netflix wants to pay them shit for their voices.
Original Beast Megatron played his cards close to his chest. Trusted no one and would gladly sacrifice any fellow Decepticon/Predacon if it meant even slightly gaining the upper hand. A proper Decepticon leader. This Beast Megatron was basically Waspinator; a bumbling sychophant.

Yes, the original Predacon Megatron respected his namesake but wouldn't have grovelled at his feet and kissed his arse like this one did. This whole trilogy just comes off as one big badly written fan fic with bad amatuer voice acting.
Part of what made BW Megatron work was his sheer ambition. His goal wasn’t to be as good as G1 Megatron (and it definitely wasn’t to be a lackey to G1 Megatron), it was to surpass him.

For a certainty if Mainframe BW Meg's and the original joined forces, there would be no sucking up. They would probably begrudgingly work together with an eventual betrayal in the works on both sides, whereas Netflix BW Mega is just a weak suck up
You're totally right. There's even a Japanese show called Robotmasters where Beast Megatron and G1 Megatron team up to fight G1 Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal, but Beast Megatron is no suck up, in fact the Megatrons are actually kind of antagonistic towards each other.
BW Megs has an ego the size of Cybertron. If he and WFC Megatron met, BW Megs would only work with Megatron so long as it's beneficial for him. The second it isn't beneficial for BW Megatron or the "Predacon Galactic Conquest", BW Megatron wouldn't hesitate to try scraping the WFC Megatron to try and become the true Megatron.
I don't think the G1 Meg would brook co-leadership and neither would BW Meg. There's too much ego, arrogance, superiority, testosterone 😂 in the mix. One would definitely have to yield or be destroyed, and surrendered Megatron could NOT be trusted to stay that way., so destroyed it would have to be. Being the more cunning person, my money's on BW Megs.
A significant tell on how beast wars megatron felt about g1 megatron is what beast wars megatron did with the golden disc. Rather than follow the plan g1 megatron's gave him he tries to take advantage of the information contained in the golden disc to benefite himself. He had no interest in restoring g1 Megatron to glory only in finding glory for himself. It's only when he's driven to desperate measures does he follow g1 megatron's order. If beastwars megatron was to meet G1 megatron it would be like the relationship between terrantulus and megatron only beastwars megatron would be playing the part of terrantulus. G1 megatron believed the strongest and most cunning should lead. Beastwars Megatron hates anything that stands as an obstacle to him and power and he was willing to gamble everything on multiple occassions in an attempt to take that power for himself.

BW megatron being a bit of a fanboy would be expected but they took it way too far. Having BW going from a bit of a fanboy to then later betraying G1 Megatron and trying to gain power himself would have been a better route for the character.
Showing the term "never meet your heroes" as he sees how much a fool G1 Megs is and decides to take it upon himself to be the only Megatron deserving of that name.

The personality and voice would be good if it was for Scorponok, but BW Megatron? The thing that made BW Megatron interesting was that not only was he egotistical enough to name himself after the legendary Decepticon leader, but also surpassed him with ambitions that could have altered the history of the Great War and his entire future. This guy is pretty much G1 Megatron's sycophant and nothing else. Tarn at least had a backbone while Kingdom Megatron didn't. In other news, ever noticed an odd pattern for contemporary Transformers where if the toys are good, the show/movie is usually bad (Prime Wars trilogy though the toys weren't that great, ROTF was an awful movie but had some of the best toys of the time, WFC Netflix trilogy, etc) and vice versa. Though exceptions exist with Prime having both a good show and good toys while its sequel had neither.

I mean in Beast Wars we learn Megatron actually didn’t name himself after the G1 character instead the one named in the covenant of Primus. So, Beast Megatron flat out thought he was better than the G1 character to the point where he basically named himself after an evil god like figure.
I personally loved this version mainly cause its a change from the psychopath we call BW Megaton I hate the fanboy portions but otherwise I actually hatted they didn't have the size differences
The worst thing is that apart of his voice at first I really thought it was just a fake, that he was planning to betray Megatron G1, as it seemed like too obvious like a Starscream act, but no, he was sincerely kissing his ass

That's not the BW Megatron I remembered. Despite of the mixed reactions towards "Beast Machines", BW Megatron did something that G1 Megatron couldn't do: Taking over Cybertron. Nobody can't deny that fact.
Weren't the Decepticons in control of Cybertron for the entire first two seasons and the movie? The only guy left behind was Shockwave, the only people who could build a way home were the cons, and it was the Decepticons who defended Cybertron when Unicron attacked. The Autobots had one of its moons in the movie, but that was all.

BM Megatron had everything under control and running smoothly until the Maximals returned. Unicron weakened the Decepticons a great deal yet both Unicron and the Decepticons get BTFO by Rodimus to retake Cybertron under Autobot command.
It doesn't stop there. If Primal failed, Predacon Megatron was about to consume Billions of sparks and merge his mind with Cybertron and Vector Sigma. That would make him as powerful as Unicron, but Unicron is just a big pig that eats planets, Predacon Megatron would then enslave The Vok, destroy Unicron, then take over The Matrix, he would become The Universe and destroy it all, or after consuming the minds of The Vok, he would become something bigger than the universe, something we don't even know. The point is, G1 Megatron is a great menacing millitary leader, but there is no room to have both of them in a show for an extended period of time. Predacon Megatron cares not for Grand Father Paradoxes.

Bro BW Megatron earnt the title of Megatron MORE then G1 Megatron did. I binged watched beast war's entire series on youtube and Beast wars megatron had got to have been the best written transformers villain made. it felt like he had a contingency plan for everything and always felt one step ahead or whenever he took a step backwards, he took 10 leaps forward. especially how in beast machines, he literally took over cybertron, enslaved everyone's sparks, turned cybertron into his own dystopian military compound and the heroes only managed to win by a hair thanks to primal getting a golden opportunity to push his ass right into the core of cybertron, sacrificing himself in the process. what did megatron do, wreck some shit, ruined cybertron beyond hospitable, got his dumbass stranded on earth only to be foiled by the autobots over again and eventually go insane to the point his own decepticons had to put him through therapy in the 3rd 4th seasons.
The fact that we didnt get a single "mmm yesssss" from megatron or a single "now isnt that just prime" from primal rsappy pissed me off, or a "were all gonna die" from rattrap,and actually rattraps voice I didnt mind in some parts but he did kind of sound like the orignal rattrap which was nice,tigatrons voice tho? Should of been switched with dinobots and vice-versa,I didnt mind airazor,rhinox,and cheetors voice tho,nor primals
Would've been cool if "Predatron" initially sucked up to Megatron to earn his trust because he knew from the Golden Disk that it would make Megatron drop his guard a lot quicker. Then over the course of the season, he starts to learn more about who Megatron is as a person and starts to resent him because Megatron starts underestimating Predatron and undermining his authority over his own predacons. Thus leading him to drop the act and start fighting against Megatron to show him who's boss.
You know when he was first being a total kiss ass, I was loving it. I was certain he was playing to G1 Megs' ego, arranging the pieces until he was ready to spring his gambit. Like a competent Starscream. The more I saw of him, the more dissapointed I got as I realized how wrong I was. He wasn't a competent Starscream, he was Starscream with no treachery or ambition and not even a decent voice. I can deal with no David Kaye, especially with how different this version is, but the Kingdom voice doesn't fit the design or even this version of the character. There's one thing I can whole heartedly agree with in this series. G1 Megs telling him to change his name, I agree because Barneytron does not deserve the name at all. I want my potentially omnicidal purple dinosaur that evolved into a dragon...and a floating head, a drone, a werewolf/dragon thing and a jet Munky back. Where's the guy who was willing to risk total universal collapse to satisfy his own ego? Where's the guy who took Megatron's name and made it his own, even put his namesake to shame and reveled in doing so? Where's the little guy who was as big a threat as Unicron through pure ambition? Where's the dude who can be legitimately sinister, calculating, dominating all while being a purple fucking dinosaur? Also where's the regal charm and wit? His composure playing against G1 Meg's eroding sanity and abrasive attitude could've been utterly fantastic. On the other hand, I quite liked Kingdom Dinobot. His plotline was (like everything in this trilogy) far too rushed but it was solid. There is serious potential there to make a strong, conflicted character if we had an expanded version of that series, seeing the entire BW era play out before Kingdom. He went out like an honorable badass, living up to his name. However his plotline is seriously hampered by Barneytron. Dinobot was loyal and trying to protect him from himself. That would absolutely fit with the real Beast Megatron, his ambitions were extremely dangerous. Dinobot trying to stop him from possibly negating his own existence being the cause of his defection would work well for this take on Dinobot. But Barneytron is such a nothing character it drags Dinobot down and robs his arc of the substance it tries to be built on. Gotta say though, was not a fan of Kingdom Primal either. Chalk's Primal wasn't exactly a pacifist or anything but he was a level headed and reasonable leader, even when dealing with his enemies. Kingdom Primal is way too aggressive for one, Primal was willing to fight but if BM Primal was too passive, this guy goes too far in the opposite direction. Not a bad character but just not Primal. Feels more like a matured and jaded BM Cheetor. Just like Dinobot though, I feel like Kingdom Primal could've been great if we got to see the journey that brought him to that point. Considering how in over his head BW Primal was, I can absolutely see him turning into Kingdom Primal if things played out different. There were times where Chalk's Primal was just sick of it all and Kingdom Primal feels like that taken to the extreme. For all my problems with this series, Kingdom Beast Megatron is the only one that just doesn't work. I can see Kingdom Primal and Dinobot as acceptable new takes but Barneytron is just an utter waste in every sense.
If he was anything like OG BW Megs, he'd use his ass kissing to hide the fact he's planning on using G1 Megs as a scapegoat if things go south, all while playing Starscream like a fiddle.
What's sadder is that BW Megatron is actually a BETTER leader than Megatron. Even with all the traitors, he still manages to get things done. But suffers similar to Rodimus in a way. Beast Megatron is able to get stuff done and make massive gains instead of always screaming "retreat" nearly every episode. But because he wasn't G1 Megatron, he doesn't get that popularity in media.
I think the most disappointing part was we could have seen. G1 Megatron and Beast Wars Megatron be amazing together. As imagine the interactions between two evil masterminds one he’ll bent on ruling the universe (G1) and the other a god complex (beast)
Im my opinion i think that all of the long time transformers english actors have been done dirty with this whole series. How is it they can cast mark hamil for skeletor and not Peter cullen, gary chalk, Michael ironside, or the voice actors from the video games. War/Fall of cybertron and devastation. In that game they managed to get almost of all the original actors from the g1 cartoon.
I honestly kind of welcome the idea of the identity crisis with beast wars Megatron but this obviously wasn’t the way to do it. Beast wars may try and should have been the star of the season yet he was just put in the background and disrespected. I still love the season but I can’t deny that what they did to beast wars Megatron was a travesty
As someone whose favourite TF villain is BW Megatron.... seeing how much of a wimp he was in this series physically hurt me. He was one of the most dangerous Transformers period. He was stranded on Earth and yet was seconds from rewriting the entire universe to his image using a time paradox while not even having the G1 Megatron's army, he ends 2 seasons killing off Optimus Primal. He was an ambitiousz infettered schemer who plans big and even a mere betrayal form his minion he will spin to his advantage, and manages to be equal parts bombastic as he is menacing. I'd even add in Beast Machines which hot take... never minded the direction he was going in and dare I say it, actually makes sense. There he just the mere power of his mind to cause a pandemic that allowed him to take over the entire planet, he tricked the heroes into handing him the pkwer to become a virtual god, kill off all but one of the Maximals and nearly replaced Primus himself. The guy was dangerous. Even when playing around you can't takr the guy down for good... Why did that guy degrade into a simp. The real one would be secretly using the decepticons for his own end and backstab to become the actual final boss

Honestly, when I first heard this new "Megatron's" voice I was very worried. And sadly my worries were justified. I can't describe how disappointed I am. I think even Hasbro are embarrassed by this guy. They have his artwork look AWESOME! He looks like a force to be reckoned with, and feared! He looks like MEGATRON! But how he is in the show? THAT is Megatron? That is an embarrassment. This was not written b y fans of the show. This was written by hipsters who hate Megatron and the show, and want to watch it burn while laughing manically and and twirling their mustache.
The only thing I could say I like about kingdom megatron is the little green crystal on his rounded head it reminds me of the old spark crystals on the Bw/BM figures. His head is the wrong shape, his voice is way off, his attitude is pathetically weak, and he on,y does the yes line once in the show and is just a wannabe BW megatron.
IMO Dinobot got the only character development and it was still different from the original version. I had low expectations to begin with for beast wars representation. It should have been its own spinoff. The previous installments focused on the G1 cast so expecting a heavy BW story seemed unlikely. What I found surprising was how bad the BW models looked compared to their 90's counterparts.
There are a few things that can be blamed for ' Not Our Beast' Megatron. For one thing, the casting director. They were responsible for not only okaying this voice, but they could've pushed his performance to new heights! Now, sadly the 2nd fail, was the way he was written. This also hurt the character more than anything- as he rarely got to show how fierce he truly is. Sure he was a threat, but without being able to show off his cunning, calculating, demeanor....Yesssss...... he left fans disappointed and dissatisfied.
I wanted to Love this series so badly. They butchered the entire Beast Wars cast. Just awful. I also thought Tigatron and Dinobot needed to switch voices.

I was dreading seeing the writers of WFC strip the Beast Wars characters of their char and charisma. The whole trilogy has seemed so amateurish. The writing, the voice acting, the animation re-coloring every character into 20 different background bots. It's all so cheap.
I really wish what you said had happened, Predacon Megatron at first seems like an ass kisser, but then as Predacon Megatron gets more info, he betrays Decepticon Megatron and plans on using the Allspark for whatever he wants to. Thanks for the great vid
Kingdom felt like it was done by people that never watched Beast Wars and was forced to include Beast Wars characters into the story, so they just wing it. Maximals have barely any personality outside of Primal and Airazor. Megatron is a wuss. Blackarachnia is lesbian for some reason, despite the fact one of her story plot in the OG is her love and care for Silverbolt, a guy. The Predacons and Maximals are all just one note, cameos. The best would be Dinobot.
....Blackarachnia isn't a lesbian. It was a call back to when Ratrap was falling to his death but was saved by Airazor. Where he said the exact same line as she does in Kingdom and kisses Airazor on the cheek. Besides, one of her key character traits is her flirty behavior with others. Journalists and woke writers say that she is lesbian or bi, but there was no romance or hints toward this in the show itself. Besides the callback/joke.
my OG T Rex Purple Dude believed himself to be God! Nothing less than that, and he almost succeeded in becoming one. This impostor was just a crazy fan boy meeting his idol for the first time, and nothing more
I feel like every BW character was poorly represented in Kingdom. It's easy to pick Megatron out of the litter because he is the most disappointing but they were all pretty disappointing. Blackarachnia was probably most in character of anyone.
Beast wars had 2 major strengths that made it a classic: Character writting and Voice performances. To butcher them both is pretty much the depths of failure.
The larger failing here is that the Beast Wars transformers, none of them, really were indispensable to the greater story. They could have landed on any planet and encountered any group of transformers from anywhere with in the universe and it would have been much the same result. I was expecting a deep examination of their history. They should have had a more serious identity crisis here. Sure there was some internal conflict between Prime and Primal, but that passed within less than 10 minutes. I was expecting something like the Beast Machines story arc that lead them to uncover their ancient past. Instead they meet the beast wars robots who tagged along as the story about the all spark progressed, which by the way just kept getting more muddled and abstract as it went along.
Sorry if this was already mentioned but weren't the Maximals and Predacons significantly smaller than their Autobot/Decepticon ancestors (Megatron refered to them as Energon guzzlers in Beastwars)? In the Netflix they are the same scale.
Good thing David Kaye didn't voice BW Megatron in Transformers Kingdom. It would've been a bigger slap, seeing BW Megatron simping to G1 Megatron, with David Kaye's voice😧
I thought the story wasn't bad. I was hoping it would've been much better with the crossing of transformers and BeastWars. But I have to admit, I thought what people said "with the voice actors" wouldn't really matter that much. But I take it back! I was very very disappointed with the amateur voice actors for the beast wars characters. The women were ok, but the guys were terrible, really terrible! The wimpy voice of BW Dinobot, the rough voice of Tigertron, and especially the extremely wimpy voice of Megatron was the worst of the worst. "No confidence, no strength" And the worst of it all was without a doubt seeing BW Megatron groveling on and on at Megatron's feet. It was pathetic to see. Never in a million years, you would've seen Megatron groveling at anyone's feet like that! Honestly, He was one of the most intelligent and strategic leaders that we have ever seen in any cartoon like that one, and that's the truth. So seeing him at Megatrons feet like that..... No ....... Really pathetic. I was hoping, when we saw Meg's foot hit the ground like in the preview, I was really hoping we would see some serious rumbling, separating the 2 factions and who would rule the universe. But NO, it really was horrible and pathetic. But aside of the terrible and amateurish voice acting and lack of confidence and strength on the side of the Predacons, it wasn't a bad show. But I preferred the first two parts! Just my opinion!
I am so offended that this voice and personality wasn't just used on Scorponok. I mean he's literally in the show but is reduced to mindless drones and I am still upset the others weren't there. At least Waspinator would have been nice but no they didn't.

I havent watched WFC kingdom Just seeing the first few seconds of BW Megatron already let's me know that this Megatron is a simp, I don't care if it's an adaptation or their interoperation of BW Megatron. That's not BW Megatron that's scorponok.
It's a complete cringe and rolled eye moment too this version of Beast Wars Megatron too be a Lugnut clone but the difference is that Lugnut is an original character.

I did not watch beast wars as a kid so I did not mind the new voice at all , actualy liked the voice since it suited his Simp character, also really liked Dinobot's voice
I didn't think it was that bad, the 6 episode format is whats really hurting the show, had we got more episodes perhaps the fans may have warmed to the voice. Considering it is an amalgamation of all things transformers it could be worse. It needs 12 or so episodes
I think what's so jarring for the beast wars characters in general is that because they look so close to their original designs that the audience can't help but to expect the same character to also be shown. I would have been fine with how they did this version of beast wars Megatrons character and voice if they hadnt borrowed so much design wise and kind of played around to make it feel different but respectful to the original.
I actually thought from the very beginning When I was watching Kingdom for the first time that Beast Megatron was just playing everyone and he was going to end up betraying Megatron and the decepticons so that he could get his hands on the All-spark for himself but I guess not :|
The thing about the original Beast Wars Megatron was that yes, he was a megalomaniac with delusions of godhood... but he combined that with 1) an ounce of taste and refinement, and 2) an ideology surrounding the Predacon cause that was... almost BENEVOLENT. He was a hardcore Predacon Nationalist, and he felt like Predacons should be at the top of Cybertron's hierarchy... but that further, he should be at the top of the Predacon hierarchy. He didn't just 'worship Megatron'... he aspired to have the kind of society that the original Megatron envisioned but never attained; a united Cybertron with a distinct caste structure with him as its beating heart. Putting him next to a rendition of G1 Megatron would ultimately lead to him stepping in with a presumption of PEERAGE, not subservience, and then transitioning from a belief that he was equal with G1 Megatron to a belief that he was superior to G1 Megatron.
There's a lot to be said for the fact that Beast Wars Megatron's alt mode is a TYRANNOSAURUS REX. He is a tyrant. He should have pulled a Jon Snow, and said 'With all due respect, I don't need your permission. I am a KING.'
Yeah I’ve never watched the original Beast Wars, but they definitely wasted a lot of potential on his character. I really would’ve preferred the original Voice actor for BW Megatron, and that the designers would actually give him a personality.
Agree with everything you say here 100%. Beast Megatron was my biggest disapointment in this. How can you turn such an awesome and dangerous vilain (who had the coolest voice ever back then but tbh, I wouldn't even mind the atrocious voiceacting of Kingdom if the character was done properly) into a total simp? He's supposed to be a brillant scheming super threat. I get that he normally admires G1 Megatron, but... no..... not like this. BW Megs would surely be honored to be fighting alonside with his namesake but would also be scheming something behind everyone's back.
I went into this series expecting to see Predacon Megatron screwing over Decepticon Megatron, cause that's what the character I watched as a kid would have done. He took Megatron's name, but he wasn't an obsessed fanboy, he was a master schemer and manipulator out for himself. Dinobot was cool for the most part though. Not as rough around the edges as the original, but still an honerable warrior who wanted to do the right thing. I was a bit disapointed that he died again, but he went out after beating the crap out of Megatron (Decepticon), and returned the Matrix to Optimus Prime (Seeing Dinobot, not only my favorite Beast Wars character, but my favorite Transformers character ever, have an interaction with Optimus Prime, was one of those things I didn't know I needed till I saw it)
They basically made him Tarn. Which I don't mind. I feel like if they had time to delve more into why Beast Megatron idealizes G1 Megatron so much it would have been received better. While also dialing back on the "simp" angle. Especially because Beast Megatron's goal in the WfC is that he wants to save his home by making sure Megatron gets the allspark and doesn't become Galvatron. So his goal is nobler but it still screws over the Autobots and Maximals.
You know what's worse? The beast era has had little to none representation in 20 YEARS, so that was the introduction of the character for an entire generation.

They may assume that the characters were *_always_* like this and just pretend the series doesn't even exist.

On the topic of the voices in this show, there was a post on the transformers subreddit a couple days ago by someone who worked at the animation studio in Japan. He mentioned in the comments that the voice acting in the Japanese dub of the WFC Trilogy was very good. I haven't heard it myself, but I looked into it and wouldn't at all be surprised if it was true. They brought back Beast Megatron and Optimus Primal's voice actors from the Japanese dub of Beast Wars to reprise their roles (not sure about the rest of the returning Beast Wars characters as tfwiki doesn't have that info, but they did bring back Cheetor's VA for the JP dub of Cyberverse so I wouldn't be surprised if they did here as well). Even for Optimus Prime, they brought back Tesshou Genda, a veteran Transformers voice actor who provided the Japanese voice for Optimus Prime in G1, Headmasters, and the live action movies. Cut to Garry Chalk speaking about his disappointment at not being asked to reprise his role for Kingdom or Rise of the Beasts, Peter Cullen and Frank Welker at that panel talking about how Netflix wouldn't hire them because they're unionised, and David Kaye saying on Twitter yesterday that he's not playing Megatron in Rise of the Beasts. Why is it that veteran Western Transformers voice actors are being treated so poorly recently compared to their Japanese counterparts?
Internacional dubs are usually not made by whoever made the show/film, there's usually an independent studio on the county who hire their own voice actors to work on it, unlike the original dubs that are made by whoever made the show.
This is why the voice acting in basically every other language is better than the original English version, Hasbro is trying to cut costs while everyone else wants to make their job right.

Man I didn't know they brought back the original jp va from beast wars! I had to do a quick look see on netflix and you were right! Its pretty funny hearing dio from jojo speaking out of primal but I'm sure the Japanese fans appreciate it. I wish they did the same for the English speaking fans.
They did change airrazor's voice to be female now because in the original series she was voiced by a dude in Japanese.

Basically, Netflix US doesn’t want to hire unionized voice actors, which most of the original voice actors for these characters are. This is why especially Peter Cullen has been getting shafted lately; they want his voice, but don’t want to pay him for it, so they get sound-alikes they can pay cheaper. Same goes for Frank Welker, David Kaye, and Gary Chaulk. They’re all union, and Netflix wants to pay them shit for their voices.
Original Beast Megatron played his cards close to his chest. Trusted no one and would gladly sacrifice any fellow Decepticon/Predacon if it meant even slightly gaining the upper hand.

You're totally right. There's even a Japanese show called Robotmasters where Beast Megatron and G1 Megatron team up to fight G1 Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal, but Beast Megatron is no suck up, in fact the Megatrons are actually kind of antagonistic towards each other.
BW Megs has an ego the size of Cybertron. If he and WFC Megatron met, BW Megs would only work with Megatron so long as it's beneficial for him.
The second it isn't beneficial for BW Megatron or the "Predacon Galactic Conquest", BW Megatron wouldn't hesitate to try scraping the WFC Megatron to try and become the true Megatron.
I don't think the G1 Meg would brook co-leadership and neither would BW Meg. There's too much ego, arrogance, superiority, testosterone 😂 in the mix. One would definitely have to yield or be destroyed, and surrendered Megatron could NOT be trusted to stay that way., so destroyed it would have to be. A significant tell on how beast wars megatron felt about g1 megatron is what beast wars megatron did with the golden disc. Rather than follow the plan g1 megatron's gave him he tries to take advantage of the information contained in the golden disc to benefite himself. He had no interest in restoring g1 Megatron to glory only in finding glory for himself.
It's only when he's driven to desperate measures does he follow g1 megatron's order. If beastwars megatron was to meet G1 megatron it would be like the relationship between terrantulus and megatron only beastwars megatron would be playing the part of terrantulus. G1 megatron believed the strongest and most cunning should lead. Beastwars Megatron hates anything that stands as an obstacle to him and power and he was willing to gamble everything on multiple occassions in an attempt to take that power for himself.

Having BW going from a bit of a fanboy to then later betraying G1 Megatron and trying to gain power himself would have been a better route for the character.

The thing that made BW Megatron interesting was that not only was he egotistical enough to name himself after the legendary Decepticon leader, but also surpassed him with ambitions that could have altered the history of the Great War and his entire future.
This guy is pretty much G1 Megatron's sycophant and nothing else. Tarn at least had a backbone while Kingdom Megatron didn't.
In other news, ever noticed an odd pattern for contemporary Transformers where if the toys are good, the show/movie is usually bad (Prime Wars trilogy though the toys weren't that great, ROTF was an awful movie but had some of the best toys of the time, WFC Netflix trilogy, etc) and vice versa. Though exceptions exist with Prime having both a good show and good toys while its sequel had neither.

That's not the BW Megatron I remembered. Despite of the mixed reactions towards "Beast Machines", BW Megatron did something that G1 Megatron couldn't do: Taking over Cybertron. Nobody can't deny that fact.
Weren't the Decepticons in control of Cybertron for the entire first two seasons and the movie? The only guy left behind was Shockwave, the only people who could build a way home were the cons, and it was the Decepticons who defended Cybertron when Unicron attacked. The Autobots had one of its moons in the movie, but that was all.
@@manjackson2772 Decepticons were in charge of a DYING Cybertron under G1 Megatron's command considering jack-all Shockwave accomplished to fix things. BM Megatron had everything under control and running smoothly until the Maximals returned. Unicron weakened the Decepticons a great deal yet both Unicron and the Decepticons get BTFO by Rodimus to retake Cybertron under Autobot command.
It doesn't stop there. If Primal failed, Predacon Megatron was about to consume Billions of sparks and merge his mind with Cybertron and Vector Sigma. That would make him as powerful as Unicron, but Unicron is just a big pig that eats planets, Predacon Megatron would then enslave The Vok, destroy Unicron, then take over The Matrix, he would become The Universe and destroy it all, or after consuming the minds of The Vok, he would become something bigger than the universe, something we don't even know. The point is, G1 Megatron is a great menacing millitary leader, but there is no room to have both of them in a show for an extended period of time. Predacon Megatron cares not for Grand Father Paradoxes.

The fact that we didnt get a single "mmm yesssss" from megatron or a single "now isnt that just prime" from primal rsappy pissed me off, or a "were all gonna die" from rattrap,and actually rattraps voice I didnt mind in some parts but he did kind of sound like the orignal rattrap which was nice,tigatrons voice tho? Should of been switched with dinobots and vice-versa,I didnt mind airazor,rhinox,and cheetors voice tho,nor primals

Would've been cool if "Predatron" initially sucked up to Megatron to earn his trust because he knew from the Golden Disk that it would make Megatron drop his guard a lot quicker. Then over the course of the season, he starts to learn more about who Megatron is as a person and starts to resent him because Megatron starts underestimating Predatron and undermining his authority over his own predacons. Thus leading him to drop the act and start fighting against Megatron to show him who's boss.
Beast Wars Megatron sounds so young that it's comical to here him speak. 😂
You know when he was first being a total kiss ass, I was loving it. I was certain he was playing to G1 Megs' ego, arranging the pieces until he was ready to spring his gambit. Like a competent Starscream.
The more I saw of him, the more dissapointed I got as I realized how wrong I was. He wasn't a competent Starscream, he was Starscream with no treachery or ambition and not even a decent voice. I can deal with no David Kaye, especially with how different this version is, but the Kingdom voice doesn't fit the design or even this version of the character.
There's one thing I can whole heartedly agree with in this series. G1 Megs telling him to change his name, I agree because Barneytron does not deserve the name at all.
I want my potentially omnicidal purple dinosaur that evolved into a dragon...and a floating head, a drone, a werewolf/dragon thing and a jet Munky back. Where's the guy who was willing to risk total universal collapse to satisfy his own ego? Where's the guy who took Megatron's name and made it his own, even put his namesake to shame and reveled in doing so? Where's the little guy who was as big a threat as Unicron through pure ambition?
Where's the dude who can be legitimately sinister, calculating, dominating all while being a purple fucking dinosaur? Also where's the regal charm and wit? His composure playing against G1 Meg's eroding sanity and abrasive attitude could've been utterly fantastic.
On the other hand, I quite liked Kingdom Dinobot. His plotline was (like everything in this trilogy) far too rushed but it was solid. There is serious potential there to make a strong, conflicted character if we had an expanded version of that series, seeing the entire BW era play out before Kingdom. He went out like an honorable badass, living up to his name.
However his plotline is seriously hampered by Barneytron. Dinobot was loyal and trying to protect him from himself. That would absolutely fit with the real Beast Megatron, his ambitions were extremely dangerous. Dinobot trying to stop him from possibly negating his own existence being the cause of his defection would work well for this take on Dinobot. But Barneytron is such a nothing character it drags Dinobot down and robs his arc of the substance it tries to be built on.
Gotta say though, was not a fan of Kingdom Primal either. Chalk's Primal wasn't exactly a pacifist or anything but he was a level headed and reasonable leader, even when dealing with his enemies. Kingdom Primal is way too aggressive for one, Primal was willing to fight but if BM Primal was too passive, this guy goes too far in the opposite direction. Not a bad character but just not Primal. Feels more like a matured and jaded BM Cheetor.
Just like Dinobot though, I feel like Kingdom Primal could've been great if we got to see the journey that brought him to that point. Considering how in over his head BW Primal was, I can absolutely see him turning into Kingdom Primal if things played out different. There were times where Chalk's Primal was just sick of it all and Kingdom Primal feels like that taken to the extreme.
For all my problems with this series, Kingdom Beast Megatron is the only one that just doesn't work. I can see Kingdom Primal and Dinobot as acceptable new takes but Barneytron is just an utter waste in every sense.
From now on all Transformers fans should call beast wars Megatron from kingdom Barneytron

If he was anything like OG BW Megs, he'd use his ass kissing to hide the fact he's planning on using G1 Megs as a scapegoat if things go south, all while playing Starscream like a fiddle.
What's sadder is that BW Megatron is actually a BETTER leader than Megatron. Even with all the traitors, he still manages to get things done. But suffers similar to Rodimus in a way. Beast Megatron is able to get stuff done and make massive gains instead of always screaming "retreat" nearly every episode. But because he wasn't G1 Megatron, he doesn't get that popularity in media.
I think the most disappointing part was we could have seen. G1 Megatron and Beast Wars Megatron be amazing together. As imagine the interactions between two evil masterminds one he’ll bent on ruling the universe (G1) and the other a god complex (beast)
Im my opinion i think that all of the long time transformers english actors have been done dirty with this whole series. How is it they can cast mark hamil for skeletor and not Peter cullen, gary chalk, Michael ironside, or the voice actors from the video games. War/Fall of cybertron and devastation. In that game they managed to get almost of all the original actors from the g1 cartoon.
I honestly kind of welcome the idea of the identity crisis with beast wars Megatron but this obviously wasn’t the way to do it. Beast wars may try and should have been the star of the season yet he was just put in the background and disrespected. I still love the season but I can’t deny that what they did to beast wars Megatron was a travesty
As someone whose favourite TF villain is BW Megatron.... seeing how much of a wimp he was in this series physically hurt me. He was one of the most dangerous Transformers period. He was stranded on Earth and yet was seconds from rewriting the entire universe to his image using a time paradox while not even having the G1 Megatron's army, he ends 2 seasons killing off Optimus Primal. He was an ambitiousz infettered schemer who plans big and even a mere betrayal form his minion he will spin to his advantage, and manages to be equal parts bombastic as he is menacing. I'd even add in Beast Machines which hot take... never minded the direction he was going in and dare I say it, actually makes sense. There he just the mere power of his mind to cause a pandemic that allowed him to take over the entire planet, he tricked the heroes into handing him the pkwer to become a virtual god, kill off all but one of the Maximals and nearly replaced Primus himself. The guy was dangerous. Even when playing around you can't takr the guy down for good...
Why did that guy degrade into a simp. The real one would be secretly using the decepticons for his own end and backstab to become the actual final boss

Honestly, when I first heard this new "Megatron's" voice I was very worried. And sadly my worries were justified. I can't describe how disappointed I am. I think even Hasbro are embarrassed by this guy. They have his artwork look AWESOME! He looks like a force to be reckoned with, and feared! He looks like MEGATRON! But how he is in the show? THAT is Megatron? That is an embarrassment. This was not written b y fans of the show. This was written by hipsters who hate Megatron and the show, and want to watch it burn while laughing manically and and twirling their mustache.

The only thing I could say I like about kingdom megatron is the little green crystal on his rounded head it reminds me of the old spark crystals on the Bw/BM figures.
His head is the wrong shape, his voice is way off, his attitude is pathetically weak, and he on,y does the yes line once in the show and is just a wannabe BW megatron.
IMO Dinobot got the only character development and it was still different from the original version. I had low expectations to begin with for beast wars representation. It should have been its own spinoff. The previous installments focused on the G1 cast so expecting a heavy BW story seemed unlikely. What I found surprising was how bad the BW models looked compared to their 90's counterparts.
Also, I was so annoyed with Dinobot's voice change. I thought Tigertron's new voice was closer to the original dinobot...

There are a few things that can be blamed for ' Not Our Beast' Megatron. For one thing, the casting director. They were responsible for not only okaying this voice, but they could've pushed his performance to new heights! Now, sadly the 2nd fail, was the way he was written. This also hurt the character more than anything- as he rarely got to show how fierce he truly is. Sure he was a threat, but without being able to show off his cunning, calculating, demeanor....Yesssss...... he left fans disappointed and dissatisfied.
I wanted to Love this series so badly. They butchered the entire Beast Wars cast. Just awful. I also thought Tigatron and Dinobot needed to switch voices.

I was dreading seeing the writers of WFC strip the Beast Wars characters of their char and charisma. The whole trilogy has seemed so amateurish. The writing, the voice acting, the animation re-coloring every character into 20 different background bots. It's all so cheap.
I really wish what you said had happened, Predacon Megatron at first seems like an ass kisser, but then as Predacon Megatron gets more info, he betrays Decepticon Megatron and plans on using the Allspark for whatever he wants to. Thanks for the great vid

Kingdom felt like it was done by people that never watched Beast Wars and was forced to include Beast Wars characters into the story, so they just wing it. Maximals have barely any personality outside of Primal and Airazor. Megatron is a wuss. Blackarachnia is lesbian for some reason, despite the fact one of her story plot in the OG is her love and care for Silverbolt, a guy. The Predacons and Maximals are all just one note, cameos. The best would be Dinobot.
....Blackarachnia isn't a lesbian. It was a call back to when Ratrap was falling to his death but was saved by Airazor. Where he said the exact same line as she does in Kingdom and kisses Airazor on the cheek. Besides, one of her key character traits is her flirty behavior with others.
Journalists and woke writers say that she is lesbian or bi, but there was no romance or hints toward this in the show itself. Besides the callback/joke.
In the words of inferno "they disgraced the royalty" they really ruined be Megatron I was waiting for at least one double cross.

I feel like every BW character was poorly represented in Kingdom. It's easy to pick Megatron out of the litter because he is the most disappointing but they were all pretty disappointing. Blackarachnia was probably most in character of anyone.
Beast Megaton’s voice isn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be but still hate what they did to the character.
Beast wars had 2 major strengths that made it a classic:
Character writting and Voice performances. To butcher them both is pretty much the depths of failure.
The larger failing here is that the Beast Wars transformers, none of them, really were indispensable to the greater story. They could have landed on any planet and encountered any group of transformers from anywhere with in the universe and it would have been much the same result. I was expecting a deep examination of their history. They should have had a more serious identity crisis here. Sure there was some internal conflict between Prime and Primal, but that passed within less than 10 minutes. I was expecting something like the Beast Machines story arc that lead them to uncover their ancient past. Instead they meet the beast wars robots who tagged along as the story about the all spark progressed, which by the way just kept getting more muddled and abstract as it went along.
The voice, the simpering loyalty, the almost mindless savagery. Yeah, this ain't Megatron. This is Scorponok in cosplay.
Sorry if this was already mentioned but weren't the Maximals and Predacons significantly smaller than their Autobot/Decepticon ancestors (Megatron refered to them as Energon guzzlers in Beastwars)? In the Netflix they are the same scale.

Good thing David Kaye didn't voice BW Megatron in Transformers Kingdom. It would've been a bigger slap, seeing BW Megatron simping to G1 Megatron, with David Kaye's voice😧
I thought the story wasn't bad. I was hoping it would've been much better with the crossing of transformers and BeastWars.
But I have to admit, I thought what people said "with the voice actors" wouldn't really matter that much. But I take it back!
I was very very disappointed with the amateur voice actors for the beast wars characters.
The women were ok, but the guys were terrible, really terrible!
The wimpy voice of BW Dinobot, the rough voice of Tigertron, and especially the extremely wimpy voice of Megatron was the worst of the worst. "No confidence, no strength" And the worst of it all was without a doubt seeing BW Megatron groveling on and on at Megatron's feet. It was pathetic to see. Never in a million years, you would've seen Megatron groveling at anyone's feet like that!
Honestly, He was one of the most intelligent and strategic leaders that we have ever seen in any cartoon like that one, and that's the truth.
So seeing him at Megatrons feet like that..... No ....... Really pathetic.
I was hoping, when we saw Meg's foot hit the ground like in the preview, I was really hoping we would see some serious rumbling, separating the 2 factions and who would rule the universe. But NO, it really was horrible and pathetic.
But aside of the terrible and amateurish voice acting and lack of confidence and strength on the side of the Predacons, it wasn't a bad show.
But I preferred the first two parts!

This show really shit on Beast Wars Megatron. I really have no clue how it got the green light.
I am so offended that this voice and personality wasn't just used on Scorponok. I mean he's literally in the show but is reduced to mindless drones and I am still upset the others weren't there. At least Waspinator would have been nice but no they didn't.

I havent watched WFC kingdom Just seeing the first few seconds of BW Megatron already let's me know that this Megatron is a simp, I don't care if it's an adaptation or their interoperation of BW Megatron. That's not BW Megatron that's scorponok.

I did not watch beast wars as a kid so I did not mind the new voice at all , actualy liked the voice since it suited his Simp character, also really liked Dinobot's voice

I didn't think it was that bad, the 6 episode format is whats really hurting the show, had we got more episodes perhaps the fans may have warmed to the voice.

I think what's so jarring for the beast wars characters in general is that because they look so close to their original designs that the audience can't help but to expect the same character to also be shown. I would have been fine with how they did this version of beast wars Megatrons character and voice if they hadnt borrowed so much design wise and kind of played around to make it feel different but respectful to the original.
The real Beast Wars Megatron totally would have tried to betray Megatron and take over himself.

The thing about the original Beast Wars Megatron was that yes, he was a megalomaniac with delusions of godhood... but he combined that with 1) an ounce of taste and refinement, and 2) an ideology surrounding the Predacon cause that was... almost BENEVOLENT. He was a hardcore Predacon Nationalist, and he felt like Predacons should be at the top of Cybertron's hierarchy... but that further, he should be at the top of the Predacon hierarchy. He didn't just 'worship Megatron'... he aspired to have the kind of society that the original Megatron envisioned but never attained; a united Cybertron with a distinct caste structure with him as its beating heart. Putting him next to a rendition of G1 Megatron would ultimately lead to him stepping in with a presumption of PEERAGE, not subservience, and then transitioning from a belief that he was equal with G1 Megatron to a belief that he was superior to G1 Megatron.
There's a lot to be said for the fact that Beast Wars Megatron's alt mode is a TYRANNOSAURUS REX.

Agree with everything you say here 100%. Beast Megatron was my biggest disapointment in this. How can you turn such an awesome and dangerous vilain (who had the coolest voice ever back then but tbh, I wouldn't even mind the atrocious voiceacting of Kingdom if the character was done properly) into a total simp? He's supposed to be a brillant scheming super threat. I get that he normally admires G1 Megatron, but... no..... not like this. BW Megs would surely be honored to be fighting alonside with his namesake but would also be scheming something behind everyone's back.
I went into this series expecting to see Predacon Megatron screwing over Decepticon Megatron, cause that's what the character I watched as a kid would have done. He took Megatron's name, but he wasn't an obsessed fanboy, he was a master schemer and manipulator out for himself.
Dinobot was cool for the most part though. Not as rough around the edges as the original, but still an honerable warrior who wanted to do the right thing. I was a bit disapointed that he died again, but he went out after beating the crap out of Megatron (Decepticon), and returned the Matrix to Optimus Prime (Seeing Dinobot, not only my favorite Beast Wars character, but my favorite Transformers character ever, have an interaction with Optimus Prime, was one of those things I didn't know I needed till I saw it)

They basically made him Tarn. Which I don't mind. I feel like if they had time to delve more into why Beast Megatron idealizes G1 Megatron so much it would have been received better. While also dialing back on the "simp" angle. Especially because Beast Megatron's goal in the WfC is that he wants to save his home by making sure Megatron gets the allspark and doesn't become Galvatron. So his goal is nobler but it still screws over the Autobots and Maximals.
