Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup th-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.

If you want to catch a tarpon you can go to Smathers beach at like 20 minutes before sunset and go to just before the 2nd rock jetty thing and wade out from the beach up until these flats that you should probably be able to notice from the beach and as the sun starts setting you’ll see tarpon roll and can catch some (when I was there I caught 3 tarpon and a bunch of mangrove snapper

If you wanna get a bunch of different fish under those bridges you should go when the tides are switching and the water slows down. Then throw a chum bag down there right up on the piling and the fish will come up. Ive caught a lot of big parrotfish, spade fish and mangroves like that. I suggest a small hook with cut ballyhoo. Cheers!

what's cool about the keys is that no matter what you catch you can use it as bait to catch something bigger. Not even kidding. Catch a 50-100 lb black tip, use it as bait for a 500-1000 lb hammer head. Keys have the most amazing fishing.

My favorite place…… While your down there you should link up with Chad Gone Fishing, Key West Kayak Fishing, or South Florida Fishing Channel.
Edit: If you get the chance you should stop by Toms Harbor or Long Key & The best times to fish the bridges is 1 hour before & 1 hour after slack tide.

When fishing the bridges the current is good. But the bite goes crazy when it goes to slack tide when switching incoming and outgoing tides. Fish the back of the pilons when the current is pushing under the bridges. Thats where all your big fish are chilling waiting for food to go past in the current. Also free line bait wayyyyyyyyy under and past the bridge. Trust me…. U will get monsters

16:00 That one is a Mangrove, the black stripe over the eyes is a dead giveaway. I got to see them up close at the Seaquarium in Curacao, and I got to learn that the black stripe isn't always there, it comes out when they're actively hunting, but otherwise the stripe is invisible. It was by far one of the coolest fishing related things I've seen, watching a school of fish with zero black stripes turn into a writhing mass of teeth and black stripes when a school of mullet was thrown in. I've been trying to find a video demonstrating it, but I can't seem to find one, mangroves don't seem to get a lot of love on youtube besides being eaten.

For years Florida was known for restaurants serving fake grouper. But that was outlawed and restaurants can get huge fines now for it. They must keep a tag for authenticity. But, most Floridians know what different fish taste like because we live here and grow up eating it. Dolphin, snapper, trout, reddish, snook, sheepshead, cobra, wahoo, key west grunt, which are silver are quite tasty, and we eat mullet, mackerel and whiting too. But grouper is a Florida passion thing. You have to try fresh grouper.
