- Three months ago, the Ugly American update for TNO released. An initially crash-heavy release, this turned out to be fundamentally broken in other ways, too. Much of the lag issue has since been resolved, rendering Ugly American (eventually) one of the best updates to TNO in a long time. This video encapsulates the unaltered experience of pre-fix Ugly American. Enjoy! Part 2 at some point!

This was the update that made me realise how stupid broken Airborne Units are in this mod. I won every single proxy war with nothing but Helicopter infantry. They can basically do everything.
i own an Air Assault team for home defense because that's what the OFN intended.
Four Co-Prosperity Sphere & Pakt volunteers break into my firebase. "Uh, negative!" as my Infantry component rappels down the transport helicopter.
Blow a 5.56 sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Direct my Infantry towards the second man, miss him entirely because the equipment is at 40% reliability and nail the war correspondent.
Have to resort to the missile pods mounted on the attack helicopter loaded with napalm warheads. "Loud and clear, go ahead, over" the napalm incinerates two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off Enemy Air Superiority alarms. Reload door-mounted LMG and encircle the last terrified volunteer. He dies waiting on supply to arrive since HP damage without connection to the capital is impossible to stitch up.
Just as the Leader of the Free World intended.

Kennedy OTL: kicked the can down the road on almost every issue, paranoid in foreign policy
Kennedy in TNO: Literally gets shot the second he gets into office

LBJ OTL: didn’t care about African Americans, also sent a bunch of people to die
LBJ TNO: based supporter of civil rights, literally a chad on foreign policy as well

Nixon wasn't that bad in OTL either. He ended the Vietnam War, succeeded in making a détente with the USSR and China, and on internal issues he created the Environmental Protection Agency, the OSHA, Affirmative Action, pushed desegregation, made Social Security increase with inflation and much more.

God I remember playing this update when it started and it legit becoming so slow that I had to pause the game, close that intel screen, play it for an hour in-game, and then re-open it for it to ACTUALLY update. Really was an apt name for the update during that time.

Oh yeah, I remember opening up TNO coincidentally around the update's release. For whatever reason, the longer total time I had the foreign intervention window open, the slower my game went.

Glad to help, Rice! I put the image I wanted in a layer above the one I wanted it nestled inside, reduced its opacity to see the outline of what was underneath, and traced a mask for it. Note that I did this in Filmora 12, and I'm pretty sure that 9 and earlier can't do that.
@@23North_ Appreciate it man, if I may recommend a TNO nation that I personally enjoy (and hate) it would be the Iberian union. It feels really satisfying slowly expanding your little empire while dealing with issues at home. Although late game issues can get really difficult and sometimes ”a little” annoying. Anyways, great video, well deserving of a sub.
