Knowing Reggie..... Besides being a completely incredible Musician..... Just as his Personality comes through this video..... He's an "equally" incredible person..... Beyond dedicated to his Family and Students..... Honored being his Friend
Reggie you’re such a down to earth dude. You were giving me lessons in that dump in Pennsauken across from Zaph’s. We’d go there n pick out a guitar, amp and more. I kept bringing home stuff, my wife than would ask how much I spent. I’d always say you lent them to me! 🎸🤣. You guys had it all from the songs, stage presence, professionalism and true Rock Gods. I don’t understand the music today. Love seeing bands today that still play in that Genre. Glad you guys get together but bummed I miss your shows. Mucho Respect! I’ll catch ya’s next time you play out.
just discovered the band and have been listening to the 1990 album non stop. how come "Find Another Way" was not the 1st video/single. That is a rock radio hit if there ever was one.
Reggie I saw heavens edge in the mid 80"s at the village night club in Lancaster Pa, you are the reason I bought an Ibenez 770, and still have the CD. I'm now 55, thanks for taking me back in time! I'd love to go back to those days. Never stop playing.
Reggie, you are part of my life's soundtrack. I've seen you a few times live with Heaven's Edge and you've influenced and inspired me as a guitarist. I miss those good old days seeing you, Teeze/Roughhhouse, Sic Vikki. I loved the Empire Rock Club, Bonnie's Rocks, The Galaxy. I'm 50 now,but those were the best times of my life. Thank You
while in the navy during fleet week in nyc heaven's edge played a show on the uss intrepid. got to meet and hang with the band. great dudes. great album
Reggie is inspiring here, but he was also so inspiring as my guitar teacher. Helped me see music differently. Hear music differently. I still play today and think of him often. I hope to give my son at least half the inspiration Reg gave me.
I was absolutely blown away by the 1st Heaven's Edge album and how much of a monster shredder Reggie is. A shame the band never got any bigger than it did. I hope we get some new music from them soon, or maybe even a Reggie Wu solo album! That would be way cool!
Hey bud. To quote Boston it’s been such a long time. I sang with a band sweet talker. We played at flagstaff a million years ago It’s great to hear and see y’all are still rockin!!! Lookin forward to seeing you and the gang on stage!! You are an inspiration to many!! Still after all there years!! Best of Luck. God Bless Rodney.
Many thanks for creating and uploading this insightful footage. Major respect to you Reggie! Few of my generation back in Uk would have been exposed to Heaven's Edge, but thankfully I caught your brilliance, watching MTV on an Italian holiday back in 1990.. When I finally was able to track down the album seven years or so later, you guys kept me company blasting out the stereo, trip after trip, up and down the motorway to London, visiting my girlfriend... (The relationship was a crazy one and the songs helped me get by). Your wise words here serve as good inspiration for my own current music making (-; All the best, cheers
I love this guy, such a kick ass rock star. Saw him and Heaven's Edge play early 1990s near Albany N.Y.. Had such a good time, I was about 20 life was young and ahead of us and music (hard rock) was still sick!
Wow, this was a great interview. Its a shame they had such troubles just after getting signed. I still play their first CD on regular rotation and I am always telling people who love rock and metal to check them out. Most people have no clue about them, but always come back telling me how much they love that first CD. Timing was everything and its a real shame they lost their window. Even though that's the case, their music is sort of timeless. It came out in 1990 and I still blast it loud as hell in 2017!
Great video. The first time I saw him play he was playing with his teeth standing on a lunch table in the Cherry Hill East cafeteria. Hey I though you were suspended!! Nicest guy you could ever meet.
Great person very well spoken, intelligent, warm, and kind a true musician. I understand all of his stories (which are true) about being in a band back then. I was so mortified when Alice In Chains and all that rubbish hit that I stopped caring about the current scene. I got into the 60s and 70s music it took over. I tried to form a band sort of in the vein of what would have accidentally not been too good looking back, but nobody wanted to make what I call "Love music." Now I don't believe in bands I want to change the way things are just do it all one man. Back then it was scary to be in high school and some of my friends didn't survive. I am glad Reggie is a true musician and a great person. This oral history warms my heart.
it's unbelievable how you guys couldn't be more popular elsewhere. it really goes to show that only Philly knows real talent. Alice in Who? i don't own or couldn't tell you a single song from them. But I went through a shitload of trouble to get your album on vinyl because Heaven's Edge is legit.
i love that you did this Reggie coming from an old student .you taught me a lot and i have to say your a teacher that cares .i miss ya brotha ......your daughter is prob like what 16 now?....do ya still talk to dave wrath?
I used to watch Heavens Edge play in De at a place called Union Station. Had the privladge of being backstage with them at the Empire Rock Club once. Reggie was so freaking awesome, I used to be so frustrated wanting to play cool Heavens' Edge tunes in my band , and jsut couldn't pull off any of his solos :(
I was there that night at the Empire when gigi got shot I remember the guy getting kicked out of the club and then I was there when he came back I was standing out front he walked into building then I heard the shot. I remember years ago Laurie gallagher had my band (Private joy ) opened up for you guys at the cell block
i feel bad for bands like them who got their break right at the end of the hair metal craze . if they made it 2 or 3 years earlier they could of been huge
Sad thing is the 80s and 90s hold a treasure trove of amazing hard rock and metal musicians! All whom youll never know about. G.E. Smith once was asked "who's the greatest guitarist out ther"? He responded " You'll never know. The best ones never make it".
HEAVENS EDGE DID NOT BOMB OUT. THEIR DEBUT RECORD EVERY REVIEW WAS 5 OUT OF 5 STARS, lowest I was 4 and that was by one mag...when they picked Columbia I said to myself, what other hard rock.metal bands they have??? NONE
Dear Reggie. thank you for being a part of my life. Heavens edge was nothing without you. I was 15 and now I'm 41. I wish you well.
the music lives on bro. again... I say thank you
The same!
Reggie is such a Humble Guy. Class Act

I just wish they had more music out, come on 1 CD is a tease of their talent
Apparently a new cd is due in 2023!
One of the few rock-albums from that time I actually still listen to. It's still great!
Cool!!! I still rock their first CD from 1990!
just discovered the band and have been listening to the 1990 album non stop. how come "Find Another Way" was not the 1st video/single. That is a rock radio hit if there ever was one.
Worse student Reggie ever had. Now playing guitar with my kid and we looked you up. Love this video!

Great story, Reggie. I still love your guitar work with HE. All the best.

This guy is DENGEROUS. Burning licks, burning solos.
Great interview and information, Amazing guitarist ,i wish it was the late 80s again.Awesome time.

Great but heartbreaking story. As they say, "Dream come true, but only for a few..." Great band.
They just played PA. New album in 2023. I wish them the best in a resurgence!
Great video. The first time I saw him play he was playing with his teeth standing on a lunch table in the Cherry Hill East cafeteria. Hey I though you were suspended!!
Nicest guy you could ever meet.
This is an AWESOME interview! So insightful as to what life was like back then as a struggling musician especially the part re: school and parents!
Thx Reggie! My 7 year old son loves your solos! "Steady rock" studio is his favorite!
Really insightful. I am so glad to watch and Reggie, I am so glad that I can call you my friend

One of the most underrated guitarists of all time. He's a God.
WELL DONE REG!
Big fan of how guitar heavy HEavens Edge is.
i feel bad for bands like them who got their break right at the end of the hair metal craze . if they made it 2 or 3 years earlier they could of been huge

I was at their record release party.... can't remember what year it was.
He's my guitar teacher
No Stairway!
That's the same thing Yngwie Malmsteen did. He kept getting kicked out of school to practice.
@pzapir8 Yeah he is a great teacher, guitar and piano.
SOUNDS LIKE THE HGR STORY!

HYO loves reggie wu.
Hi 👋
I know his child i call him bass
We weren't bad kids
good on him for doing what he loves despite what his parents wanted. in my view parents are the ones who are often disrespectful to their own kids.
