  • In the Lifehack today, I’m going to show you, how you can scan your notes and documents to look as good as if it was done with a real scanner and how to erase and reuse the paper after scanning, just like with a rocketbook notebook.

    As busy student who is on campus all day, I do not think it is a safe or easier way compared to the Rocketbook. Yes the scanner may be better than Rocketbook, but going through the hassle of heating up one sheet of paper over again rather than just wiping it clean seems very inconvenient and unrealistic. Plus that one sheet of paper will show indentions from previously writing on it. Thanks for the tip about Google photo scanner though !!

    It’s a good review. The only problem is that the ink reappears if it’s cooled again. Imagine leaving your notes in a cold car and returning to find every note you ever wrote on that paper. The reason the Rocketbook works so well with this pen is that you can truly erase the pages with water.

    I don't have time to microwave paper notes in between classes. That's why I am still using the Rocketbook. Thank you for the tips re: Evernote and Google Photos Scanner!

    Looks good! I really prefer the sleek, smooth, “moisturized-feeling” writing surface texture of the Rocketbook. Paper is so drying to my hand/palm. 😫

  • @BrianHartman
    @BrianHartman หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is kind of an old video, so this isn't a criticism, but just an update for those who don't know.
    Rocketbook has moved on from paper you had to microwave. They now use a kind of water resistant paper. You still use the Frixion pens, but now you can just erase with a little bit of water and a cloth.
    The other thing Rocketbook gives you is the ability to automatically send to destinations. I can send directly to Google Drive, or even to a specific Google Drive folder. It's a level of automated organization I don't think you get with Evernote. And importantly, Rocketbook's app isn't tied to a paid service.
    Rocketbook has come a long way since 2017. :)

    Thanks for your suggestion :) however I would suggest that Office Lens gives you a more useful result as you can search in the document scanned.. ie OCR, but that is in Android. IOS seems to be more difficult to sort out..

    rocket book in my humblest opinion is the epic winner in all circumstances because it offers a complete "system" of doing things! With rocketbook and its app, the scanned pages automatically transfer to desired folders as selected on the page itself! Its way too smooth and flawless system. But thanks for the video!

    Hi Brian! I want you to check something: can I use any kind of paper but I have always to use the Frixion Pen? This is what you want to say? In this case, I think I can use a classic notebook, scan my notes, put it in the wave and finally I can reuse it. It's amazing!

    • @BrianAlex
      @BrianAlex  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, exactly. Though the Rocketbook is of course made to be put in the microwave, so be careful and bare in mind that the paper needs heat, so if the book is closed it might not work as well.

    The reason Rocketbook doesnt have future due to the cost. It is expensive as $34 and for that cost you can buy paper books needed for your whole college. The only additional thing it does is scanning the page which can be achieved with any free apps.

    Good video and you are correct. I have the Rockbook Everlast and so far it is has been nice. Though I do wish for more pages. That said, all you need is to get the paper above 100 degrees F. So, I wonder if you could put a 200 page notebook in the oven at 130 degrees without creating a fire or issue?

    • @BrianAlex
      @BrianAlex  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well 130°F is about 50°C, so that shouldn't light the paper on fire. I want clarify though that I'm not responsible if it does, so be careful. I also don't know if it works that well, you'll have to see that for yourself, in theory it should though.

    • @BrianAlex
      @BrianAlex  6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      +Jonathan Fauerbach No, Evernote is completely free. There is a premium option that increases the storage from 60MB a month to 1GB. But considering a Note takes up a few KB, you would be crazy if you needed that. Note scanning works just as well in the free version, too.

    What I do and don't like... I do like the toaster trick. I don't like the suggestion to replace rocket book as the best part is its automatic sorting ability as a CEO and business owner its great to study HDMI HD Base T, CEDIA, Interior Exterior Remodeling, other subjects basically in webinars, you-tube, or books, take notes, circle an icon in my rocket book and have it automatically sorted, saves tons of time. Secondly I have used Everlast found it great for travel but not overall. I prefer camera scanner to this, emailing it to my self and then manually sorting in the folders I have set up for rocketbook already.

    Is there difference between everlast version and wave, this method that you mention in order to erase the ink, can be used in with the version everlast? because this new version what I see is now it uses water to be erased

    • @BrianAlex
      @BrianAlex  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Roberto Garcia The Rocketbook Everlast uses pages made from plastic instead of paper, that's why it's water resistant. I would guess that if you flip open a page and heat it, the ink would be erased, but I don't know about the whole closed notebook, because plastic probably wouldn't heat through as well with water. And the Everlast is not heat resistant according to Rocketbook...

    • @mspark400smith2
      @mspark400smith2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roberto Garcia the main difference is the everlast one has symbols you select with pen on each page to automatically designate where it is stored when you go through and scan your stuff. Also to clear up some misconceptions -- only erase your rocket books in the microwave not the toaster oven, just sound like a bad idea and in a microwave only the water is hot which is what you want. It also has micro dots and other small unnoticed details that assist the app to scan better. It is not actually the same as paper "just thicker", it is a special blend. The everlast is a similar if not slightly different formula blend too. I own several rocket books and an everlast so while I'm not any kind of expert, I have had good experiences with both and as far as I can tell practically they work the same except for a slightly faster scanning and sorting thanks to the symbols in the everlast version. Both use the same pens and I believe both can be erased with moisture and heat in microwave. Please correct me if there are important differences I missed or was wrong about, or if there is a difference in being able to wipe single pages clean. Thanks and cheers

    • @mspark400smith2
      @mspark400smith2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Self correction the others were correct, the everlast does not advertise the ability to clear the whole book like the other rocketbooks. My mistake and apologies,

    Well done. Great hack to heat up paper, and also thanks for the tip on Google photo scanner, that's great. I use an ordinary notebook with pages stuck in, and it's easier to just scan them with EN. They are so cheap, coming from renewable resources, and can be recycled so well, that you can get a lot of them for the cost of a rocketbook. Really liked this video, so subscribed!

      Brian Alex so question.... after watching your video, you’re basically saying that you don’t need a rocket book, because with Evernote scanner and Evernote, OR office lens and one note, you could just use those apps to save your handwritten notes (even skipping the fusion pens thing too), yes? I really appreciate your video. TY!

  • @shanedoinstuff4899
    @shanedoinstuff4899 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I dont understand the logic behind this video. The best part of using rocketbook was to avoid carrying a bunch of papers in your backpack. Plus its super nice being able to send notes from rocketbook straight to the destination just by scanning. Like yea you can use the Evernote scanner, but with rocketbook you can have your notes sent to tons of different destinations and different apps. Saying that Evernote makes rocketbook obsolete is like saying a flash drive makes the cloud obsolete, or a bicycle makes a car obsolete.

    So potential fire risk and no quick file - while I appreciate this it’s missing some very key features of rocketbook unless I’m missing something. The icons at the bottom of the page are essential.
    Fortunately there’s an open source JavaScript that lets you print actual rocketbook pages - which would solve the quick icon thing - but the heating up pages I’m not so sure isn’t going to result in someone burning down their house.
