Hi I love your videos! I have also ordered bamboo seeds from Aliexpress. Although the germination rate is very low, have you considered using Ga3 on these seeds? Is the hormone effective on old or ungerminated bamboo seeds?
Thanks! I tried it a second time with GA3 but it didn't work out either. However, as GA3 improves germination it should be effective on any kind of seed. These bamboo seeds must have been extremely old.
@@greenberrysgarden3539 Do you find ga3 to be effective generally with seeds? After watching your video on Ga3 I wanted to give it a try too. I got a few to germinate using H2O2 and distilled water but there are a large number that dont germinate. Thought ga3 might push them along, is it worth the exercise? Looking forward to your next vid.
You would need to let it soak in water (temp 30-35 degrees Celsius) for at least 24 hours first to kickstart them. And I have the feeling you planted them wrong side up. The little ball side is where it will start growing leafs, so the sharp side is going downwards.
As I am putting it on a heat mat which heats the soil to about 30°C when I keep the soil moist there should be no difference to soaking them in water only I think. However, even after trying to soak the seeds in water (paper towel method) for days nothing germinated so I assume the seeds were just too old. But new seeds are on the way :)

Unfortunately nothing grew at all so I ordered new bamboo seeds this time from Wish.
Greenberry's Garden I just got 100 Vivax bamboo seeds on eBay for like $8. I had several germinate after just 8 or 9 days.
