I discovered your channel a few days ago. I have been going through such a hard time and these videos have brought me so much peace and joy. As soon as I can I'm going to order what I need to start making these. I can't wait.
Robbie, I bought a weeping willow tree that I planted in a pot and put on my patio area. One day, I realized that my humming birds were relaxing on those tiny branches that sway in the wind like a swing. You have such great ideas and tips so I wanted to share this one with you. The humming birds love this and I thought you might want to get one too. ❤️
Awesome Robbie!! I love it!! Going to make one to hang on a hanger I have in the backyard!! Thank you!!🙏🏻 I did a similar thing with a hollowed out tree stump coming up my walkway to my front porch. I lined the hollowed out tree stump with a thick garbage bag. Then put my pump in with the tubing and filled with rocks. The birds LOVE it!!🥰
Great idea . I have tons of bird baths too. But I never would have thought about this for my humming birds .....your idea is better than what I'm using now. Thanks for sharing. I will make this a.s.a.p. I love your videos. I'm from Texas and I apperciate your videos so much.
I've used food storage container from the dollar store. The lid is blue and snaps on. A few holes to drain back in and one for the tube. It side on any suface, My birds and bees loved it!
I have been watching your videos and love all the bubbler birdbaths. The bucket birdbath is the one I will make. I can hang this bubbler next to my hummingbird feeder and the height will be perfect.
Hi Robbie: I've been thinking about making a hanging bath from one of my current fountains that sits on a patio table. My hummingbirds just aren't using them where they are located now. Maybe too close to the ground. I do have a tree branch perch for them to sit on, but feel that if the bath were up higher, they would feel safer using them. Right now, they are about 2 1/2 feet off the ground. I'd like to make a hanging bath and put it just under the side of my pergola, where the feeders hang. This video came at just the right time and has given me a lot of ideas! Thanks for your videos. Really enjoy them!
Sadly, we only have Hummers here from beginning of May till mid September. It’s such a short amount of time! But I am so grateful that I have them at all!!!!🙏🙏❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love watching your videos and have made the soda pop fountain but no hummingbird bathing yet. I even put a red flower right next to it. He does come to my feeders for a little bit each day but I wish he would hand around more!
Another great creation. I will definitely make one of these. The only problem I have is getting enough sun to the solar panel. I have a small backyard and 2 trees that block the late afternoon/evening sun.
I've become obsessed with my hummingbirds. I made a larger fountain full of rocks so the bees can't drown in it, and a floating solar fountain. A lot of birds are drinking and bathing in it, but the hummingbirds don't seem comfortable with it. Maybe it's too big or too strong a flow. I'm definitely going to try making them one of these.
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I’m making one for my sister in Los Angeles and for my sister in law, they both have bird bath and no fountain so I will surprise them both 😊♥️👩🌾🙏🏻👍👍
My husband thinks I'm crazy because I now have more baths than I have hummingbirds! They haven't discovered them, yet, but doves and sparrows have enjoyed the one at grown level. I love working with the soldering iron!!!
I made a hanging bird bath a month ago but I can not get them to land on it for some reason ..they are flying all around it .. great videos ..maybe one day I will see them land on it..
Too many prowling domestic cats in my neighborhood to have a hanging OR ground bird feeder- Cats stalk and kill the birds that eat seed that falls on the ground, too, so I have stopped feeding birds. Can’t have a ground bird bath for the same reason. So, thanks for posting your dyi hanging solar bird bath. I love birds and have a great backyard haven for them otherwise, so I will try this. Thanks!
Another awesome creation! I love this. Thank you for sharing it! I have several small metal buckets and I will be making one like this. Do you think the hummingbirds would use it if I put it about 15 inches away from a hummingbird feeder?
Using the heat gun melts the edges pretty much smooth but I’m sure if you used 1/8” drill you could go over it with fine grit sand paper just to be sure and rinse /wash well
I have a question for you. I got a couple of cat fountains to use outdoors. One has a light that stays on all the time the other has a switch where I can turn off the light. I have 3 different solar batteries. One is 20,000, the other two are each 38,800. None of them will power the fountains for more than 24hours! I am charging the batteries full with a cable inside every day! How do you get yours to power them for days?
Have enjoyed your vids from up north....I'm curious ..I've noticed a major reduction in both of the hummingbird species common to our area here on Vancouver island.... have your lil flutter bugs shown a reduction in numbers???
I live in Arkansas and I have 30 to 40, which is more than I did last year at this time of the year. Not sure if it makes a difference, I have been feeding hummingbirds for 10 years. I hope you get more hummingbirds because they are so much fun to watch.
Hey Robbie! I would like to know where you get your worms. I have a small raised bed/container garden and am looking to start composting with the pitchers. Thanks for all the great ideas!!
I have made a few of the water fountain birdbaths with solar, and the birds have completely ignored them. Plus, we only get a few hummers and even though it's 100+, they do not use it. I have watched tons of videos on attracting them. I also bought a bubbler, bird bath, decorated with flowers and pebbles and rocks. Solar does not work at all where I live as I am surrounded in trees. They do not use it. So either simple or fancy, nothing works and I have been trying for a year. It is SO frustrating! I have spent so much $$$, time and effort and nothing. The other birds will use the bird bath fountain and I clean and fill it daily, including putting ice cubes in it to keep the water cool. At least they come to the feeders which I clean and fill twice a week. So disappointing and frustrating, but I think I'm done trying! Thank you for all your hummingbird wisdom :)
Hey Robbie and Gary! I love all your videos.. I have a little problem.. I bought walking onions from Amazon and for 3 months I waited and then it said they was delivered and we never got them.. then I wrote to them twice telling them I didn't get them.. I just received a package from them but it has black seeds.. I know I ordered the little onion sets.. what should I do.. can you grow onions from seeds at all
I have three fountains made so far but our hummingbirds won’t use them. Neither do our towhees, robins or other birds. I don’t know why. Any suggestions? I am in Oregon and Anna’s are here year around. They have no interest in drinking or bathing even though temps have been really warm for last month.
I have made many of these and have yet to have one hummingbird bathe in it they come to the feeder and never use the water fountain and yes I slowed them down and made perches for them but they do not get anywhere near them lol I give up
It depends on where you live, if they get rain and humidity they really don't need to bathe. Mine don't come either, other birds do. Robbie lives very dry.
Make sure they have a perch or somewhere to land and see the water up close, that will make a difference, and all do bathe, as they get dirty, but if they have a bath place somewhere else they will go to that first, so it could take time.
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy thanks I have perches on the fountain and they have been there for 3 months now and they have not used them but will keep trying
No plastic water bottles sitting in the sun...plastics leak into the water. My round solar fountain is in a plexiglass bowl right now, but I plan to switch to all glass.

Be sure to have perches for the hummingbirds so they can land and check out the water.
I love using my soldering iron. My husband suggested that I use a drill to make holes and I said 'nope, I love using my soldering iron' 😆

I have the one here next to some feeders, just be sure to put a perch on the buckets, Take care and have fun!
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy Thank you!
I really enjoy your fountain videos! Should the holes be poked a certain way? Will ragged plastic left over from drainage holes hurt hummies?

What was the white ring you placed on the bittled opening? Was it from the bottle cap, melting the cap down to a ring?

Great video! Where did you get the perch? or how can i find a similar one?
I made it from a tree branch 😊 thank you
Robbie, can you use super glue or E6000 on a hummingbird feeder?
Robbie, get a patent for this. 🤩
I think I'll use a plastic container inside the bucket instead of the bag.
Great idea!
It might work, but the water could miss your pot, that is the reason I have the plastic bag inserted inside
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I am thinking of one that would fit snug inside. Do you think that would work? 🤔
where can I get the pump, what kind ?

Yes, onions are generally grown from seeds, even the starter plants you get were grown with seeds.
I feel like a drill and holesaw bits and normal drill bits might be better than burning plastic with a soldering iron.
You do it the way it is best for you, I have found this to be the easiest and I do it with an open window or mainly outside
How do you stop the top “frisbee” from sliding off. There is nothing holding it.

How you deal with the bullies hummingbirds.? I have one and don't let the others come close to the feeders.

Try moving it, or add some plants around it, they need to know it is safe.

I would think that 100 plus degree temps would melt the glue gun around on the tape
