Man I’m so close to a first halibut or striper…. I can taste it… haha… so when you feel those “bumps” , do you stop reeling in, or keep going? I had a swim bait get nailed pretty hard a couple times…came back with two good bites in it… but somehow I rooked out…and didn’t hook it… great videos man I’ve learned a lot from you…
Thank you I’m glad I can help. When you drag the weight over the truck I slow it down sometimes I even pop it a couple of times and pause. I will slowly in those sections and when I feel a little bit of resistance I will gradually lift not to set the hook but to feel the weight. Keep trying I guarantee 50 more cast and you will probably get that keeper best of luck out there.
man... just came back from there yesterday. three days of nothing - morning tide and high tide afternoon. nobody home but the stripped cat 🦨 🤷 thanks for making me cry and knowing I suck 😭 🙆 yelling POWER didn't even help me 🤣😂🤣 keep em coming 🤙
I do love the trifecta. However there are things I do and don’t like about the cicada. I the cicada is a much more stiffer blank which does have sensitivity for perch when paired with a 4000 sized reel it could work well with a bigger sized class fish. The butt stock on the cicada is somethings definitely something you need to get used to.
An enjoyable video...Mike! I don't know if you are super good or just lucky. Your 1st time out for halibut in the surf and you land 3!!!!! Super calm looking surf/water and it must be warm for halibut to like it. Does tide matter much? Wish I were with you to share a hook up.
Yeah from what I understand definitely during lower tides and overcast. It was early for sure to try and target them seemed to work out alright. Thanks for all the support brotha Ron.
Are you fishing out or San Diego? I caught a 12” halibut out of Carlsbad two weeks ago, and been skunked the past two times. Any suggestions of where I should try to have better success?
Bro congratulations on your fishing adventures tanks for posting your videos I’ll like them all tanks have a great day of fishing tanks
Thanks my brotha I appreciate all the support. The process is a lot of fun.
Just got my first legal 2 weeks ago after 2 shorts and I was fishing the drop shot as well. Congratulations Mike.

Bad ass video bro 👊🏽🔥
Thanks broham
How do you like the Cicada? I’ve been debating on that or the Trifecta Lite for perch, halibut and wsb fishing.

@@DarrylLicudine absolutely brotha so will
Nice one brotha! Drop shot for the win. Seeing striper out there yet? I went out last weekend but no striper. Just perch and halibut.
Yeah those Zebras are around.. they are definitely out and about
@@mikestacklebox right on, i'll get out there again and try harder.

@@mikestacklebox It worked "OK"!!! I would be doing handstands and flips if I had that sort of success on a 1st try!!
@@theoldsurffisher1943 hahahaha I was just stoked about seeing that bald eagle

I have buddies out that way. However they usually hit the inner most of the inlet’s rather than the surf.Agua Hedionda area ya know best of luck
@@mikestacklebox thank you, I love close to that. I’ll try it out!
Your rod looks like Trifecta Lite
Yuppp I catch everything with this bad boy…
Damn and that release tho 🤔
Nice fish but definitely NOT a doormat brotha 👍😁
Yuppp definitely not… but it’s certainly early in the season.
Santa Cruz?
Some what in the vicinity.
A Penn reel ?
Van staal
its actually A ZEBCO
Not really a drop shot.
A drop shot is the hook is up the leader about 12" or so and the weight on the bottom...at least in freshwater bass fishing.
That’s how he has it rigged up..
