i know he says it is all down the practice but...what he dose is soo far above ever othere drummer either past or present tells me he has natural talent for drumming especially with his limb independence.. it is just mind blowing what he can do...
You are completely correct, he has a natural ability that allows him to play this well. Don't get me wrong he probably still puts in more work and practice than any one out there. But the ability to play a different beat on all 4 limbs at the same time and rapidly changing them as well takes something more than just practice. Estepario has a video that's called something like "am I really a computer" not sure exactly. But it shows him demonstrating this. Best drummer in the world by far.
True - but there is A LOT more than speed to being one of the greats. Is what he plays overly complicated at a snails pace? Does he play anything other than covers? In sport, there will always be a person that will come along. That person in 100 years just has unbelievable talent. El Estelario is that person on drums. The best ever. Enjoy.
For me what sets Jorge apart from other great drummers is his musicality and orchestration. There are other drummers out there that are technically capable of playing this, especially if given time to practise, but who else would come up with this cover in the first place? Some "purists" complain that he over plays, which utterly misses the point of what he is doing. He's showing the rest of us, what some one who is at the top of their game, and is a master of their instrument can do, and what is possible. Even when "overplaying" the complex linear grooves and rhythmic patterns he creates always enhance what he's playing along to. Check his drum cover of Eminem's Godzilla, and Linkin Park's Numb. Realy enjoyed your reaction :)
I fully respect how you both are musicians and you are making it clear how difficult it is to use the dualist and how much you need to practice this is how all musician should be and show absolutely respect 🫡 💯
What yall missed is this... when he switches up and grabs the stick out of his waist band, he actually throws the other stick into his right hand and is now playing those high hats with 2 sticks in one hand! Lol. So he literally has a "V" shaped set of sticks in his right hand hittting those hats.

I only got to play with one for a few minutes one time and yeah it’s an extra rhythm element to think about for sure. @phimuskapsi have you spent any time with one?
I've only seen one other drummer on YT try that thing, and it was rough. He could only manage one tempo, after getting used to it. I don't know how representative of the general use case that is, but it is possible that you have to adjust its spring tension depending on what song you wanna play. Just speculating! Might be totally wrong and just dependent on the amount of practice.
Yep and it’s not just one lever to switch as it looks like in the videos, it’s another level on the left for double back to single. It’s not easy, it’s doable but it takes a lot of practice
Yes, to me it seemed like it would take waaaaaaayy more practice for that specific motion than it was worth. But it’s awesome that El Estepario put in the time to do some cool stuff with it. Kinda makes me rethink trying it again
Great reaction as usual! Will watch for Merch to support! The dude is a monster. New and upcoming drummers will be using this guy as an influence. He WILL change drumming in his own way.

Not a drummer but the way he described the pedal. I’m assuming if you want to use it you essentially have to re-learn how to play the drums? I wonder if you went to learn drums and started with a duelist you’d be like him maybe?
I played using the same pedal much prior to this cover and I gave up within two days. It made my foot weird is all I can say. This guy has mastered isolation to a T. Is he the greatest drummer? Probably not. But is he the best percussionist? Without a doubt.
Another person, phimuskapsi, hit the nail on the head - you need a rhythm to use the switches on the duallist peddle. I as a non-drummer picked it up. El E doesn't decide, "Oh, now I have to switch the peddle." It is, instead, a silent beat in the drum kick track? Rhythm? Rhythm. To change from single strike to double-strike. Ball of foot beats, and heel beats (left and right) so to speak. After that is the issue of muscle memory - you're so used to doing double kicks in one way that when another comes along you either fight that original muscle memory, OR make a new one for a "different" instrument. Hope this helps, guys, enjoyed the react. Cheers.
Absolutely spot on! It’s a totally different technique and muscle memory. One other thing I noticed about the pedals is that the upstroke is really hard to get any power out of so you either need to use triggers to get consistent double kicks or really lighten up on your down stroke. But with the latter you quickly get to where you’re not hitting the kick hard enough to fully resonate

I love his mentality that he doesn't believe in talent.. because when you look at him and see so much talent, he just sees it as 8 hours of practice everyday. it's such a great mentality for any aspect of your life

I saw that one, excited to see where he takes the channel going forward!
Everyone seems to miss the fact that when he pulls the stick out he’s not dropping the other one, he’s now holding two sticks in his right hand and hitting both sides(top n bottom) of that ride😮
If not missing it, at least failing to mention it. Every reaction video out there, nobody mentions it
We'll check this out. Thanks!
I love his mentality that he doesn't believe in talent.. because when you look at him and see so much talent, he just sees it as 8 hours of practice everyday. it's such a great mentality for any aspect of your life
I played drums right up until I watched this guy. I have quit playing, due to depression.
lol!! We hear you, bud.
More DL please!
Constructive criticism: you guys talk over his performance so much you can’t appreciate what he’s up to. You need to pause and rewind more, and be more deliberate with your commentary… talking merch has nothing to do with what’s happening in front of you.
Appreciate the feedback. We are always learning - don't give up on us just yet please!
@@musikbyjh re-reading it sounds a little harsh, it’s not intended to be. I watch a fair number of reaction videos and just pointing out my observations. Glad to see you’re reading comments!
For shorter videos if you don’t want to pause, you can let it play through once while making mental notes, then go through it again and pause/discuss as required. Just a suggestion.
Cheers fellas! 🍻
Guys, is the Video of El Estepario muted? What's going on?
No, is it muted for you?
I had to go listen to the song and this has ruined it for me lol i dont like it now it feels like its missing drum beats lol
Thanks for trying! ✌🏽
Check out his handpan playing
Coming soon, Charles!! Just recorded one... ;-)
Any one know what tshirt jeremy is wearing it’s sick af
Word! 🤘🏽
El Estepario plays a triple pedal on another song he plays
He's an alien 👽. Absolutely incredible!!!
Estepario should get a cut from any money the dozens of "reaction" videos generate. He's spawned a cottage industry of guys oohing and ahhhhing over his videos. His Blinding Lights video must have at least 30 reaction videos alone.
@ejej6934 He does. In fact, most of the time he gets ALL of the revenue. Facts. 💯
Absolutely he and other artists should!!
@@DreadDrumyup…like Ninja said…they do. And a vast majority of our videos are not monetized for that reason. I guess many folks don’t really understand how this works. But it’s all good…I def think artists should get paid!
There’s a video of his typical day, he puts so much time into his drumming and it definitely pays off, perfecting his talent 👌❤
