    Melvin Gordon Highlights start at 11:15
    At Wisconsin, we pound the rock.
    In 2012, three Wisconsin running backs showed the nation why Wisconsin could (or should) be referred to as "Running back-U". Senior Montee Ball, Junior James White, and rsFreshman Melvin Gordon together accounted for over 3,500 yards, averaging 6 yards per carry, and scoring 39 touchdowns. They were, for all intents and purposes, most of Wisconsin's offense that season.
    And what a memorable season it was, both for an unusually troublesome and slow start, as well as for the rushing explosion which happened later. Montee Ball, the leader of the group, surprised many by returning to Madison after a historic 2011 campaign. Despite suffering an off-season attack & concussion, he led the unit in yards and touchdowns, on his way to becoming the NCAA's All-Time touchdown king, one of several records he holds. He was a unanimous First-Team All-American selection by numerous publications, as well as the Doak Walker Award winner for being the nation's best running back.
    On the other side, James and Melvin both displayed greatness in their own right, most often with big-play ability and speed. All together they were a fearsome threesome for opponents, and one which Badger fans enjoyed watching all season.
    Their success was due in large part to the play of their offensive line as well as their coaching by Thomas Hammock.

    Down the road from the three playing together James White plays for the New England Patriots, Monte Ball plays for the Denver Broncos, and Melvin Gordon III plays for the San Diego Chargers. Yeah, there was some talent there.

    The crazy thing is that in another 2 years that backfield is going to be this good or better. By then Jonathan Taylor will be an unstoppable force, and when he gets tired they but in braderick shaw, a guy who would be a star if Taylor wasn’t there, and if need be they can put in groshek, who frankly is one of the hardest runners I’ve ever seen

  • @stephenkennedy1492

    Love watching these guys run. It’s hard to keep your eyes off them. But if you can, watch the o-line, backs, and receivers just demolishing people with their blocking.

    What's crazy is that he split carries for every season... He could've been at 90-100 if he was their consistent starter for three years

  • @EvilPenguinofDoom
    @EvilPenguinofDoom 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If the Badgers get consistent play from the offensive line, I think that Melvin Gordon could be just as good as Montee Ball next year.

      ***** You know, Vonte Jackson switched back to TB, so we could have three in the backfield. It would be nice if coach Andersen tried some triple option, spread offense in the offense scheme.

    6:08: Why I want the Packers to draft Montee Ball.

  • @8MoneyIzmyMission8
    @8MoneyIzmyMission8 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm a fan of the RB position(my favorite actually) and love to watch Wisconsin's offense. I think Melvin Gordon is the second coming of Ball and while he may not put up the ridiculous TD number, he will go well over 1600yds if they keep feeding him. James White is nice in his own right but he has no power nor breakaway speed. He looks to be either equal to or a tad slower than both Gordon and Ball.
