yep I still consider this the true rushing record 408 yards only 25 carries and sat the 4th quarter against a 9-3 team.. Samaje Perine 42 carries played all 4 quarters against a 3-9 kansas team.
Gordon went to the coach and asked him to put in the back up who switched from DB earlier that year. It was his decision not to play.
This game should be known as the Fumble Bowl.

Yet he finished 2nd in the Heisman voting? I get Mariota had a great year but COME ON. 408 yards in ONE GAME. It shows that Wisconsin is constantly and consistently overlooked and disrespected. Again NO Disrespect to Marcus Mariota, he did have a great year but what Melvin Gordon accomplished was unbelievable. I just think he deserved it.

That was the most incredible single player performance I have EVER EVER EVER SEEN.
I wish he would have played the 4th quarter or at least half of it. I would like to have seen him break 500. But I suppose that's greedy and cruelty to Nebraska. They were no slouch team. Nebraska was ranked 16, we were 20. Credit to the Offensive line as well. But Melvin Gordon III was beyond amazing that day. What a game!!
His single game record stood for like 2 hours because Oklahoma's rb ran for literally like 4 more yards then him lol

I was at this game, kept my tickets, the best part was watching the whole team go crazy during jump around.
Discovered this channel via the "Green Bay's Greatest Games" playlist; quite a few of us here in Nebraska root for the Packers due to frequent exposure and perceived similarities between GB and the Cornhuskers, also because of Ahman Green in the early 2000s. Though somehow I get the feeling this won't be the last Nebraska game featured in this playlist. I'd forgotten we ever enjoyed any success or a lead in this game; all I remembered was "Melvin Gordon up the middle / down the sidelines for 30/40/60 yards / touchdown!" At least seeing what Gordon's accomplished at the next level kind of softens the blow of this game. (Respect to SB 52 champion Corey Clement, as well.)
Bo Pellini managed to assemble reasonable levels of NFL talent on this squad, but could never put things together well enough to avoid catastrophic mistakes and frequently got blown out in big games. After he was fired at the end of the '14 season, successor Mike Riley managed to lose not only in a more dramatic, heartbreaking fashion, but also more often.
Nebraska always seemed to have troubles with the the Wisconsin rushing game, especially the jet sweeps!

As much I am A die hard Packers fan and like the Brewers and Bucks, because my family being from Wisconsin and becoming a fan at a young age. Being born and raised in Nebraska makes my a loyal Huskers fan but I respect the Badgers and love the rivalry.
