Congrats on going full time or partial full-time! 🎉 In the van. Sorry to hear about more medical stuff for u and Gemma. 😢 Sending light and love and healing energy your way. It's alot going on for you and the pups. We just lost our oldest Heidee june 6th. She was falling alot. For a few months off and on. Last time she fell face first between the 2 front seats in my van. I was driving from 1 highway... getting on another. I pulled over in the only wide spot on side of the road. She was making a sound I never want to hear again in my lifetime. 😢 I had to get out and push her with all my might and God's grace. To get her back in her seat. All 80 lbs. Anatolian shepherd. She had her front leg pinned under her body. Thankfully I was able to get her back in her seat and my 2 yr old pup didn't try to jump out in to traffic, thank God. After 2 days back at home she would eat and drink fine... but couldn't get up and walk.😢 Took my husband and I both to get her back in the van to go... do what we had to do. We tried to get a vet to come to our place. But it's not cheap around 1k. We ended up at dumb friends league were they took excellent care of her last moments. 😢🎉 Thru them we found some reasonably priced vet care for our 2 yr old. Which we needed for his neutering. Which is also ridiculously priced. I'm not sure what I was thinking... and definitely wasn't. I scheduled his surgery a week after Heidee passed. Soo we're in the middle of his 2 weeks, don't jump don't run... u know be a dog.lol Anyway I wanted to let u know about those inflatable pillows u have for Gemma...I got 1 for my Rebel... better than the cones. They told me to put the inflater part going down as opposed to facing up. Because they might chew on it. Maybe Gemma is old enough and won't. 🤔 Anyway I hope u both get better soon.🙏🙏🙏 Be well my friend.

I think Gemma thought she was in *time-out*. I hope she heals quickly and the cancer stays away. I had a great dane/lab cross I loved dearly. Smartest dog I've known. At 7 years old he got a tumor on his shoulder. I took him to A&M and they removed it, but said it would come back with 100% certainty. He lived two more years and they were a good two years. His name was Drew, and he was my best friend for 9 years. I still think about him sometimes, and he died in 1991.
I am a lot older than you and almost nobody goes through life without some crisis events. Hang in there. You seem like a highly intelligent and resourceful lady. I have had a lot of dogs and understand your devotion to them but don't forget about you. Stating the obvious, but seems like the highest priority is to find a way to a steady income stream with health insurance. It is always easier to find a new job you want when you have a job (with health insurance) than to be searching when you are unemployed, so if you can find something that would provide you some income with insurance that could tide you over to finding the job you want, that would be ideal. Hang in there and I know you will keep us informed.
Wow, big change. I'm glad Jemma had her cancer removed and that you wont harm her quality of life with chemo. Quality of life is more important than quantity. I bet Jemma agrees. But something to consider is boredom once retired. I now understand people who work as long as they can. But in something they enjoy with enjoyable colleagues. Lowlife wack job colleagues or bosses are a waste of time. Good ones make it enjoyable. Unlike Texas, New Mexico is great on health insurance policies on the exchange, so if you taught online but established residency in NM, you would have better choices on heathcare policies here. Plus vehicle registration is less too in NM. And if you decided to work in person again, it is easy to find a job in NM, at least in southern NM where I am, when you're older.
