Steve Reeves was one of the most handsome men. Now im a straight guy and i feel silly for mentioning it but Steve had that ''classic ideal''. He had the combination of strength, size and of course aesthetics. He surely will be missed.
Being that old he still looks pretty big, in terms of witdh he'd dwarf anyone, still got that broad look and very healthy. Idk why people hate on Steve's look when he was older, when you all turn 60 you will wish you'd look half as a good as him here
I don't know why, but when I'd look at photos of Steeve Reeves, I always had this impression that he may be a smug person in real life. But at 12:13 , you could see how humble he was by the compliment regaring him being the perfect cast for Hercules. He was soft spoken throughout the video, never holding himself in higher regard than the other panelists, despite seemingly receiving the most spotlight.
@@innatecharisma I've actually been thinking about looking into his books lately, if only to see if they contain any info on his diet and regimen that differs from the scarce info we have online. There's really not much about Steve as a person online either. Seems very introverted.
Steve Reeves has had a ever lasting impression on my life. From the time as a 6 year old I saw Hercules in 1959 and then Hercules Unchained and then Goliath and the Barbarians been his greatest fan. Incidentally my father imported his movies for Pakistan and all were Box office Hits. I was overjoyed when my youngest child a daughter was born on Steve's birthday 21st January.
I got a copy of his 1980 book Powerwalking, autographed to another person. If he had an internet at the time, this would have been a fitness revolution.
My father always used to show as the movies of these gentlemen. I grew up having their classic aesthetics-character pumped in my brain and I am very proud of this. I will surely do the same to my kids.
What always used to annoy me were people assuming that Steve Reeves had died years before he had. In the 70s I'd mention him, and the first thing I'd hear was "Steve Reeves is dead!" They must have been thinking of George(no relation)Reeves.
Awesome to see these guys as ordinary folk in an interview about their day to day. They seemed so much bigger than life when I was a kid. They are great and human and have not been perfect just like the rest of us.
As a young guy in the 50s I always looked up to Steve Reeves, saw everyone of his movies, sad to know he passed at a young age of 74 I am now 73, bah humbug
I was 10 years old when I first saw Steve Reeves in 1959 in "Hercules." He defined for me the quintessential Greek hero. He IS Hercules! I remember when any other Hercules came along, how disappointed I was because he wasn't the "real" Hercules. A few years after "Hercules" I saw "Jason & the Argonauts," I enjoyed the movie except for Nigel Green's Hercules. THAT was suppose to be Hercules after seeing Steve Reeves? No way! Reeves played essentially the same role in another childhood fantasy favorite, "Thief of Baghdad."
So Steve finally said exactly what he has for breakfast towards the end. Interesting. It's rather different from what was written in the 'Hercules Cookbook'. He left out a lot from what was originally listed in that book. This drink that Steve recited is a mixture of his original recipe dubbed: 'The Steve Reeves Power Drink' and his 'Alternative Breakfast' during his competition diet. Steve said the following: 16oz Orange Juice 1 bannana 2 raw eggs 1/2 cup wheat germ 3 tablespoons bee pollen 1/2 cup oatmeal Knoxgelatin Mixed and drink. The actualy 'Steve Reeves Power Drink', as it's stated in the book' is as follows: 14oz OJ 1 tbsp KnoxGelatin 1 Tbsp Honey 1 banana 2-4 raw eggs (pasteurized these days) 2 tbsp of Steve Reeves Muscle Maker high protein power *1/2 pnd Powdered egg whites *1/2pnd Powedered Whey isolates *1/2pnd soy isolates Hmm. . almost similar, but several items missing from what he said in this interview. Interesting trivia regardless.
I was Bless to see Steve Reeves on Saturday afternoon as Hercules & Gordon Scott as Tarzan, but i also love, The Son of Hercules, these men was my heros
No offense, but I really wish straight guys would get over the idea that recognizing beauty, in whatever shape or context is a sign of femininity (or gayness). It's actually a sign of intelligence and the ability to observe the universe beyond the bounds set by your highschool buddies.
Jay cutler, ronnie coleman, phil heath, none of them can even hold a candle to Steve Reeves in terms of symetry and perfection. God I wanna have his genes. lol
Thanks for the upload. Do you have any recent interviews before he died or from later in his life? Would be interesting to hear what he thought of the mass monsters and where bodybuilding has gone to from what it was.
I always wondered what Reeves voice sounded like. I had always read where his voiced was dubbed in, even in the western he did. His voice sounds good to me....wonder why they would dubb it? Keep up the very good work...you have a lot of stuff I have never seen or heard before!!
These guys lived healthy lives and you would think they would have lived way longer than they did.John Hart was not a bodybuilder but outlived them by many years.
In the 50's, I was a teenager & I was in heat for Steve Reeves; he was so PERFECT!!! I was not like Sabiano: I did not want his genes; I wanted to get in his jeans. In this interview, he was in his early 70's, my age now, and he was still a sexy looking man.
Your comment sounds gay. It makes me want to puke. I can appreciate the body he built and his accomplishments, acting, movies, etc. But I think you went too far with your filthy gay perverted comment.
***** Hey John, is this the same god who condones polagamy, Genocide, Murder, slavery, sex slavery and theft ?. You really should read that book of fiction that you call the bible, sometime, but then, you sound so ignorant, that perhaps you can`t read.
So many of us think that if you have large and well defined muscles that you should live longer. I had the same ideas long ago but I was wrong because fitness is heart and lung conditioning that unfortunately you don't get from bodybuilding.
I know Arnold said Reg Park was his hero. I know a bodybuilder who worked for Reg who thought Reg was a better 're-actor' than Steve. He would describe how each of them reacted to a gun shot. Reg's take was much more natural. I don't know since I've never seen any of Reg's movies.
I'm going to have to starting getting up at 6 like Steve because of a new work schedule when I'm really more of a Gordon Scott late morning guy. Guess I have to get a cusinard and all those ingredients. Right now I eat a banana, nuts, orange and a little yogurt.
"Knox" gelatin. For years, it was the main (possibly the only) brand; there are now quite a few other companies that sell it. (You have to be careful of the quality, though -- I think it's extremely poor, sometimes.)

Steve Reeves was indeed a great natural bodybuilder that's true, but he's not the best, Sergio Oliva is indeed THE VERY BEST, better than Arnold. That's why they call him the myth.
Dan Cowan Size is very important in bodybuilding. Most who get involved want to be big AND strong. Symmetry is nice and all but it means nothing without size. Reeves would have had much more of a presence if he was bigger. Oh and Andre the Giant looked great when he was leaner by the way.
Dan Cowan I was watching Hercules Unchained yesterday with family and I couldn't help but notice how small Reeves looked. I mean what happened to Hercules size? After that we watched one of the Hercules movies starring the great Reg Parks. He looked HUGE.
steve reeves was the perfect man, awsome physique, awsome look, very deep voice
LIsten to him, very well spoken and eloquent, in a non plussed or arrogant way. A gentleman in every respect.
Super great looking guy& great bodybuilder
Steve reeves is numero uno ! Always will be ! .. God bless him !
What a treat to see both of my boyhood idols..Reeves & Scott. What a wonderful kick...thx for putting this on!

His books reveal his personality a lot. Also his altercations with Arnold and certain rumours imply the same.

MAREK...u r the man man bro!!!...this is incredible to see that interview!!!...thnx...thnx and thnx!!!
great interview . Thank you
Steve still very handsome at a late age. He died young at 74 :(
74 not young. You'd have preferred he stuck around for alzheimer's & broken hip?
Is there bad weather somewhere in the USA now
Steve passed in 2000 and Gordon in 2007 at age 80. RIP guys.
Thanks For Sharing These 👍 😊 😀 🙂 🙏!Videos!
OMG thank you this is so rare to see a reeves interview
J I noticed that I haven't seen any interveues about steve brother George who played Supperman, I've never heard him mention anything about him.

The Steve Reeves Shake is better than vitamin supplements and is a great energy drink. He knew what he was doing, very smart.
Believe I read once he claimed to cure an ulcer with gelatin, which might make sense since it's mostly animal protein.
Wow... this is awesome!

Did he speak Italian? He became global 🌟, he'd have been dubbed for MANY markets. 1 of his stunt doubles was Giovanni, Reeves called him Johnny.
Looked up official Mr America measurements for 1947. (Taken by officials) Reeves was 6'1" 213 lbs.
