I managed to find a few books on loom design and construction. That includes the history and construction of primative looms. Two of the many books I found were: Loom Construction by Jeri Hjert and Paul Von Rosenstiel; and Building the Oregon Loom by David Mathieson. These books would be great for those weavers who want to apply the "Need a tool, make a tool" philosophy. Though each book had schematics for making a bench, I would prefer to buy a concert piano bench. It has a hight adjustment. The seat is padded, and has storage space under the seat.

I have the Handweaver's Pattern book in green, 19th edition. It is a textured green cover.
Other books that I like are: The Big Book of Weaving by Laila Lundell & Elisabeth Windsejo, Learning to Weave by Deborah Chandler and Weaving for beginners by Peggy Osterkamp.

Weaving a woman's life- spiritual lessons from the loom is also very good. It's a more of a slice of life book and very therapeutic.

I just purchased my first loom literally yesterday. I was given the Key to Weaving and an original Signed copy of A Handweaver's Pattern Book with my purchase which I am over the moon about!

My newest acquisition is a wonderful book by Deborah Silver called Split shed weaving. She gives some amazing instructions for all sorts of complex structures you can achieve on a four shaft loom. The book is arranged almost like a workshop so you can put on a warp and work through increasingly complex ideas and she has black and white cheat sheets so you can pin up a little diagram without having to keep going back to the book. Brilliant and innovative.

Thanks for the clip. It's nice to share the experience with others. I'm interested in the book you showed first. The patterns are colored, I like the way they presented the patterns. I'd like to order a book like that, but if you could help me, since I'm from Serbia, I don't know where I can order the same one. I'd appreciate it if you'd write me an address i can order... Thank you in advance

Hi! Anne Dixon book is fabulous! I think you'll love it! The title is "The Handweaver's Pattern Directory". I'm not sure about the easiest way to order it in Serbia, but I'll include an Amazon link for you. www.amazon.com/Handweavers-Pattern-Directory-Anne-Dixon/dp/1596680407

Thank you for answering! I'm very pleased for the contact, I'll try to get a book, it's different when you have a book in front of you than a laptop... One more time, greetings...

The Davidson book is not just overshot…. She covers all the general categories as well… it’s where I got my love of Swedish lace weaving from
