This is the video I was looking for as not one other TH-camr has made one on full production.Everything is about chopping and song mode. Thank you Marrcello!!!!
Width is not necessary historically speaking. In fact some think stereo is an unnecessary gimmick. The great producers (and some masters today) who mixed all these great albums from the fifties and sixties worked in mono and concentrated wholeheartedly on depth. Thus we get the term: “Deep mix”.

Actually, this (THEORY) was MUCH NEEDED information to begin with and I appreciate it! I'm going to replay it and take notes this time, I wasn't ready...LOL!
This is a helpful walkthrough of the mixing process on the MPC, thanks for taking the time to do it! I was a little surprised that you wouldn't use any sidechaining between the kick and the bass - that's my go to method for carving out the necessary space for the kick. I need to try your approach to put the kick and bass on a shared mix bus with a compressor to see how that sounds in comparison. Another thing to note is that a lot of inserts across pads, programs, submixes and master seems to be what really brings the MPC down to a crawl. Since you're adding eq on basically every pad, you might want to consider downsampling the pads to free up cpu. For a simple beat like in this tutorial, it makes no difference of course, but on a full fledged song, it would probably help. I found is surprising that you would add eq on the master when determining that the mix lacked some bass. Why not just add the extra bass on the actual bass/kick submix instead? The tip to mix in mono using the Stereo Width plugin was helpful. I'll give that a try.
Excellent and well explained video. I’m watching it in its entirety but later I’m gonna watch it again step by step to understand the process better and follow these steps using one of my beats. Thank you so much!
@@Marrcello Absolutely. One thing regarding the lead: I would play another melody, an octave higher. Also, maybe tunning the open hi hat could help because I’m not feeling it in this context. great video! I am struggling with from which side to take that MPC, when it comes to EQ. That thing can have so many tracks, it can become very quick confusing and not sounding anymore due to over-cooking. Now you gave very precious hints on EQ/Comp and also some new ideas how to organize. I will try to setup my tracks: 1 to 4 are lows (kicks-basses), 5-8 percs, 9-12 chords, 13-16 leads. SO if I am adding some new tracks (which is exactly that easy thing to do on MPC but that gives that mess), it goes almost directly to the corresponding sub. I think that could be a nice workflow.. thanks for your video!!
