How can I ask Google here about Android and the Play Store ? I tried to use the Google IO chat, but it's just other people from around the world, outside of Google. I want to ask: What's going on with the WallpaperManager class? It still shows many functions (including new ones) needing the old permission of READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE , while they actually require the new MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission. And sadly, this permission is very hard to ask for on the Play Console. They keep rejecting my app even when I tried to make related features as "core features". Why not have a very small permission instead, just to be able to reach WallpaperManager functions? Can you please talk with the Play policy team to be more flexible about MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE till such a permission is available? I can see on 1:20 that there is still no such a minimized storage permission. The Play policy thinks that I can just use one of the new ones, but it's incorrect, and only MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE can be used. 3:04 Please let us have a toggle in the developer settings to allow installing old apps. 22:43 Please let users also set a per-app setting for screen-orientation-lock. 24:26 For sharing, please offer to also choose which apps to let the user choose, and the order. 25:20 Please let users be able to set which apps could ignore the "sensitive" parts. Some tools are that useful. 26:30 Android Studio canary 3 can't be used. It can't build any app, existing or new.
Add Internal recording when streaming live using game dashboard on TH-cam and make the screen resolution universal just like adb shell wm size instead of a kernel for all devices that can list the recommended screen resolution starting from 720p and add a privacy feature that locks app and blur their recent menu and add a configuration that hides notch on all games as all devices have notch
Lots of privacy changes for accessing photos and videos. Have there been any changes to accessing music files on the device? What is the recommended way to access music?
No changes on music files. You would request READ_MEDIA_AUDIO on Android 13+ and READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older devices, and query MediaStore the same way
I just want a Crostini-like layer to run GPU-accelerated Linux applications on Android. With the advent of Android desktop modes like Samsung DeX and Motorola Ready For (now all based on the AOSP desktop mode developer framework), it's high time to give users the ability to fully utilize the power of the pocket PCs we're carrying around. If Android developers won't bring desktop-grade features to their mobile apps, then the path forward ought to be enabling full Linux application support on Android. Imagine being able to develop Android apps in Android Studio *on* Android - what a concept! A Windows 11 PC is a more flexible platform with Android and Linux than Android itself these days...
Wow, this is a great update - so many cool new things to try out! I'm looking forward to working with the credential/passkey apis. I've been working on a lot of authentication flows lately, including for KMM projects - I'm curious to see how these work. I also want to try out the updates to Compose & M3, and I'm so glad they're focusing on Machine Learning too. Keep up the good work 😀

I can't wait to see where jetpack compose achieves in the long run. I am currently enjoying learning it!
