The underlining message is Amanda can’t be brought, silenced or edited especially when it comes to her integrity and spirit. I can do nothing but stan. If the culture at the real respected her they would have made substantive changes. Can’t be mad at that. Yes she will be missed but during her time she definitely educated and shifted the needle. Walk away and keep your sanity. I’m down for that!

Everyone “wants” to hear our voices until we use them, then they want us silenced again! They invite us to the table so they can figure out how to beat us, and then remove our seats after we’ve spoken. Amanda is smart, and she wasn’t about to be an underpaid puppet for the black community! No Thanks

The Real wants to be seen as a diverse show with the different shades of brown at the table but they cater to the white audience. Their discussions are surface level at best and they were not ready for Amanda's personality. It's sad because the world needed her voice now more than ever.

I could’ve understood her staying if everyone knew that it would’ve made a difference. What’s the point of trudging all that bs to make progress if the only thing “non-black” people want to do after you made it is dismantle it? I learned a lot watching Obama’s presidency. Every single thing that the black man built during his 8 year presidency the white man came right behind and dismantled in less than 1. The network didn’t desire diversity of black opinion or even the authenticity of it. They wanted an assimilated puppet to sat on that stage and fool America into thinking it promotes diversity. That’s how they play the game. They educate us to neutralize us, not to empower ourselves

I cringed when they first announced that Amanda Seales was joining the show. That was a train wreck waiting to happen. I knew from jump she wasn't going to be a good fit. "The Real" is way too bubblegum for her. She needs to be on a hard-hitting, political-style show, and "The Real" is more of a lifestyle program that focuses more on fashion, celebrity gossip, and make-up, with just a splash of pop culture and current event chatter to make them "appear" well-rounded. The point is, let the show be what it is. Nobody watches ESPN or Sports Center expecting to get information on the financial markets. You tune into Bloomberg Daybreak for that. Amanda would be great on a show like "The View," or some political roundtable forum. Someplace where she can shine and be completely unfiltered. "The Real" just wasn't it.

Amanda also left the show because a lot of ppl in the comments were criticizing her as well. She mentioned this on a recent live. I honestly suspected this because when she first came on and especially when she had that minor tit for tat with Jeanie a lot of people in the comments (including black women) were shaming her for making everything black. I was surprised with the response especially from black women and I used to go back and forth with ppl in the comments back then. But now everyone understands why that had to be done. In the end she took a lot from the viewers too and she just didnt want to compromise herself for ppl who didnt get it

    Why are people surprised?
    1. The Real is a platform to discuss Pop Culture, not a political issues. It's like you hired a lawyer to be a fashion influencer and everyone is side eyeing the early demise of the relationship. Really?
    2. To Q's point, Amanda can also be problematic. Everyone who has ever worked with her doesn't necessarily have a positive story to tell about her. This chick has defiantly shown up a private parties where she KNEW she was not invited causing a ruckus. Talking about I'm Black Hollywood and I should be here. No one agreed and she was escorted out. She's entitled and I think this was the main reason for the severing of the relationship.

I hadn't thought about it this way, but I agree with you Q. On the one hand, there has to be someone on the "inside" so to speak to influence and really demand these changes. This isn't just about The Real. There are many corporations that lack diversity within the executive ranks. We need to be paying attention to that (specifically those organizations that sell primarily to black audiences). While all of this is true, sometimes someone has to upset the apple cart. Someone has to be publically outspoken so their voice CAN'T be stifled. Amanda Seals has taken the latter route - and I respect her for that.

Unless she was under the impression that they were trying to take a different route and discuss more serious topics...idk! This show has always been lighthearted topics for the most part, and they don’t delve very deep into serious issues. Although it’s called The Real it’s more like “real” girl chat! She seems more suited for a show similar to the view, and that’s okay. Hopefully, she’ll have the opportunity in the near future to create or be apart of a platform that better suits her. I think there’s room for both types of shows.

You’re the first person to acknowledge that her voice was always for our ppl. I will watch or listen to her on any platform and I truly believe she left because they wanted to censor her to the extent that she could take. Her black voice wasn’t being respected and Tamara and Lonni used to being censored and aren’t outspoken in any way concerning our ppl.

Love this video and I get what you’re saying about someone being palatable. The real is kinda a fluff show and Amanda was probably too “real” for it. But either they leave it like it is or really choose to change it. I was thinking Eboni K Williams but she’s on State of the Culture with Joe Budden and Remy. Now sister girl speaks her mind but I think she more tv ready than Amanda was. Amanda needs a more late night HBO vibe where she can say what she wants. ♥️♥️♥️

I told you months ago. It was Amanda being condescending no matter who was on the show from Ellen to Tiffany New York Pollard. She’d side eye and suplex them with her intellectual pedigree. She was doomed from the get go considering on who was in the seat before her. Two different types of entertainment

The Real is an easy breezy, light show because sometimes we need a mental break and a lighthearted show. Activists are not TV hosts and vice versa. That said, I agree with your overall message.

Stop trying to put square people in round holes. She did not belong on the Real in the first place. She was odd woman out. Amanda needs a more political show. Her sentiments were not needed on the Real

My checks were gone before it was payday, and they mad at me because I wanted better for myself, they say I don't stay nowhere long.. I don't go where I'm tolerated, I go where I'm appreciated ✊ tf I look like making a company money whilst I struggle...

    I agree with you FD.
Honestly, I feel like this whole situation could have been avoided. The show has been on for years and Amanda guest hosted many, many times. The Real makes it clear that it’s not The View. It’s a light-hearted show. Amanda knew that going Into it and thought she could change it. But that wasn’t ever going to happen. I wish she would have stayed for another season because in the short time she was on, she was able to help the rest of the panel to dive deeper. But if it wasn’t for her, it wasn’t for her. Her podcast does well so that might be the best platform for her since she can control the content and messaging. I wish her the best.

As black woman we are always criticized for putting ourselves first! We are scrutinized for self preservation. We are expected to suck everything up, we are expecting to fight for everyone and everything, we are expected to be uncomfortable. " What did she do? What did she say" , please go back to reviewing reality TV cause I am TIRED.

Remember the black emmys party she crashed even though she wasn’t invited and didn’t get along with the organizer. She was asked to leave and then try to drag the organizer about it in social media. And lied about some of the events surrounding this. Then got into a social media fight with some of her insecure costars who called out her problematic behavior. And NONE of her insecure costars came to her defense because they agreed that she has a long history of problematic behavior. A google search or even TH-cam search on this will give you more info. This is one of many examples.

I definitely don't see Ananda Seals leaving The Real as a 'l' for our community, it's just another constant reminder of how equality should not be our focus. Black people need to stop with this whole "everybody" needs to come together. We need our own place and our own culture instead of getting angry when other people who have their own cultures dont include us in their culture the way black people invite the world into the little bit of culture we have. Our spaces, our feelings, and our communities do not fit in every place and nor should it. The Real knows what kind of black people they are comfortable with, and this only comes to a surprise for those who dont understand the blueprint that never changes.

Thanks Dineva. This spoke to me!! You mentioned that it’s unfair to expect one person to shoulder the burden- but if everyone chooses not to be that one person we have no one. Lately TI has a quote that is something like “if each of us do some then no one will have to do it all.” I think it’s all of our responsibilities to step up and be the ONE and as more of us do that it won’t be just one. I’ve been told I judge people unfairly because i want everybody to lay it all on the line and push through discomfort for the greater good because it’s what i would do. I’m learning that everyone has their own way and it’s not wrong it’s just different.

I'm glad that Amanda's leaving The Real. She was way too argumentative with her co-hosts & guests. The only reason Amanda was hired was to be the black Megan McCain & cause controversy. And Amanda Seales can't have a healthy argument to save her life. Deuces. Sorry not sorry.
