When a keeper finds that a queen is being rejected, as you showed here, what are possible reasons for that?
For example, when you've seen it, what are the most common reasons you've encountered ? Injury? Age? Illness (of the queen)? Not able to lay eggs for some reason?
Was this particular queen able to live with a different colony? I hope so.
How long should a queen be kept in a "safety cage" on her own till you can introduce her to a different colony?
Anyway, it was unnerving to see how upset the colony was with her, how mean they became in mobbing her to make her go away. 😢
She might be sick or something wrong with her. I would think.

This is why it takes a special lind of person to keep bees. I wouldn't want anything to do with angry bees, but that's mostly because of my ignorance with how bees act. This man is a real professional it seems.

That colony is lucky that YOU'RE their owner. Me, I would've saved that queen, then put that specific colony in a steel barrel, spray them with gasoline, flame it, & close the lid. If they want to be a colony of PSYCHOS, they don't deserve ANY mercy (you know, that stuff that they did NOT show to HER).

I always put in a frame of brood with a new queen as I get 99% acceptance. The babies just mellow any hive out and seem to make everyone happy.
Can I ask is it possible they are making their own new queen?

This reminds me of an autoimmune disease, only on a bigger scale. It's like the hive is an organism made of cells (bees) and the immune system has gone wrong somehow, maybe from a virus, and has been triggered to recognise that one particular type of cell (queen bee) is now a foreign cell that needs to be killed off. It's just fascinating!

El what's cool about this is as bees become more domesticated, they're less motivated to attack humans. Alot of bee keepers only wear the hat part of the suit to keep the bees out of their face but they don't have to worry about being stung

As someone who has hated bees since a very young age, seeing this man stick his fingers in the swarm of bees like it’s a bowl of cherry tomatoes, he is the bravest man in the world.
Fear can often come from ignorance. This man isn't so much brave for this as he is confident because he is informed. You could walk through a swarm of wild honeybees if you do it right (be a passerby, part of the environment, don't swat and be all jumpy)

These bees are domesticated. They won't sting you. After thousands of years of domestication, they barely sting anyone at this point (even predators).

Something to note about how sensitive bees are to pheromones, notice how after he touched the queen and got her scent on his fingertip they swarmed his fingers as well. They are not stinging, because that would be kinda stupid for them when they have this technique that vibrates the queen so intensely it raises her body temperature and kills her. He probably did get stung a small bit, but the ones on his fingertip are so bound by the chemical signals im confident he didn’t get stung on the tip.

Queens are born queens, they’re not elected. They don’t know they don’t like her, until she’s an adult. This one is also a transplant from a different hive that it was born into.
If the new hive doesn’t want her they’ll kill her.

My beekeeping neighbor behind me recently had a good part of his hive swarm and leave the box. He said the remaining bees would hopefully make a new queen. The swarm was incredible to watch.

When my hive lost their queen they went from being gentle to very defensive. Where normally I would get bumped once or twice during an inspection I had twenty bees bumping me. New queen comes tomorrow. Hope she is accepted.

Edit: they die when they sting humans because there stingers have barbs on them so if they try to sting a human (which humans have a weird type of skin) they'll die but they sting dogs and other stuff all the time but don't die so they think it's fine to sting humans. Something like that
Honeybees and bumblebees are very docile creatures, he probably interacts with these bees every day so they are familiar with him and sense no danger so they have no reason to sting or attack
