I'm an Italian - American from New York State who's been a HUGE Selena fan for going on 26 years, and this is AWESOME! I love every one of these people for honoring her, and she more than deserves every honor we can give her. There will never be another artist like our beloved Selena - not even CLOSE. She showed 'em ALL how it's done, and did so with class, grace, and humility. SELENA FOREVER!

Curious on how did you become a fan of Selena ?

In the Summer of '95, I heard one of Selena's songs for the first time - "I Could Fall In Love" - and, even though I really knew nothing about her at the time, I was struck by the beauty of her voice. Then, in '97, I saw "Selena" for the first time - and, many, MANY times since - and I must became a HUGE fan right then and there, and I have been ever since. Even went to Corpus Christi in 2011, saw all the Selena - related sights, and met her father, her sister, and her sister's husband. It was incredible! There'll never be another like Selena. She's pretty much all I listen to.

It was a cool event. Everyone out there chilling and having a great time until " that one " person ruined it for everyone by doing burn outs on Mish and 22nd. SFPD shut it down early way before 1030 pm. 😡

Kinetic art at it's best. Absolutely beautiful cars and then they jump. It's outrageous! I'm not involved in any way but it has the appearance of a very healthy and fun community.

That's right, bigger than jlo!! Jlo didn't even think of becoming a singer till Selena movie. She was a good dancer & did the background.

One of Selena's achievements is being the only female musical artist in history to ever occupy 5 spots on the charts simultaneously, which also means that she achieved something that no other woman in the history of the WORLD ever achieved. That's pretty heavy, when you really think about it.

More important than the artist who introduced a genre of music to the rest of the country, and the rest of the world? More important than someone who went to schools to talk to kids about staying off drugs and out of gangs, and was an advocate for victims of domestic violence and the homeless, who also raised money for many good causes? I don't think so. Chavez was important in his own way, but he definately wasn't "more important" than Selena, as far as his overall impact on society compared to hers.

Shut up fool, it's a parade, people do this to celebrate the culture, theyre bringing revenue and representing the neighborhood. You non Californians need to get off these comment sections.

It wasn't meant to "accomplish" anything - it was to honor someone who DID. It's called "respect".

Yes, but she has fans, and fanclubs, all over the world. Some people think she was "unknown" outside of Texas before she was murdered, but that's far from the truth. By 1994, she had performed all over the U.S., in Mexico, parts of the Caribbean, and Central and South America as far as Argentina. There was a church in Spain that held a memorial mass for her, and she never even performed there. In 1995, they were planning the "Dreaming Of You" tour, on which she would have performed in Europe and Asia for the first time. Sadly, she never got the chance, but "Dreaming Of You" was released in 39 countries, which helped to make her music known worldwide.
