1:55 what fits into 3 quart mini
2:23 3 qt is 10.1 psi, but 6 or 8 qt is 11.6 psi. Hard beans and tough meat takes extra 15 minutes longer than the 6 qt. Other recipes take 2 to 10 minutes longer.
3 qt also needs min. 1 cup of water or liquid to bring pressure unless juicy ingredients as mushroom or chicken.
4:35 3qt for cooking grains, same ratio

How are you enjoying your Instant Pot Larry? I will be getting a 3qt as well soon and I hope that it will make cooking a lot easier. Thanks.

I have an 8 qt and a 3 qt Instant Pot. I use the 3qt almost daily for sides like rice or potatoes or pastas. I have used 3/4 cup water to 3/4 cup converted long grain white rice and it comes out perfect. I have even used packaged rice sides in the 3qt and they work better than stove top - no burning/sticking to the pot.
Thanks for this video though, I didn't realize that cooking time would increase in the 3qt. Though when I think about it, yeah it would LOL.

My sister talked me into buying an IP……She uses her larger one almost daily. I love my little IP…… But..most recipes are for the larger ones... So this video is very helpful. Thanks.

That is great information to know and I love my Instant Pot and just purchased one for my brother and sister-n-law for Christmas. I use my 3 Qt pot to cook some of the food I eat in and love how it performs. The times does make a difference and I am still trying to get them correctly so I don't under cook or over cook my food.

I just watched a couple of videos where they cooked a 4 1/2 lb whole chicken in the mini! Looking forward to doing that!

IMHO the best you tube video re comparison between 3 and 6 quart instant pot
As a novice I am more interested in food amount cooked and not pot size comparison which other sites do (and is pointless)
    Big thank u -
    3 quart for me -/

Karen,,,thanks so much for all your great info and expertise,,,i have a question/concern....Sunday, I made a pot roast w potatoes, carrots and onions. It had the most awful metallic odor /taste!! I was wondering if you ever had this happen to you OR if you ever heard of anyone having this occur? It does seem to be A THING on the web.....I was incredulous and am stumped! Thanks for any advice/insight you might have.

As I am currently looking into buying the 3qt IP, I'm wondering if this problem with metallic flavor in your foods persisted. This is the first mention of it I've come across.

I have a 3 quart instant pot that I bought purposefully. It says that it has low medium and high pressure. When do I use each pressure setting? When I make rice I have been using the medium pressure setting. I’m not sure what to do about the different settings. I would appreciate your comment about it. Thank you

I’m thinking about ordering the 3qt instant pot but am wondering what size jars would fit to make yogurt. I have the 6 qt Ninja Foodi, but want to try the sous vide & yogurt function on the IP-I want to get the Pro

I'd love to ask, is it ok to take ⅔ cup of rice and ⅔ cup of water in the 3l mini IP? Or is it too little because it means the minimum liquid for that pot is ½ cup of water.
    Thanks 😊

I use my 3qt for rice almost exclusively. I can’t remember where I saw it but the recommendation (somewhere where the writer was experienced) I got was 1:1 rice to water so that’s the way I cook it. The rice comes out pretty sticky even after rinsing it half a dozen times. Any suggestions for fluffier rice?

My little instant pot mini book says to use 1 cup of rice to 1 & 1/2 cups of water a pinch of salt and cook using manual setting for 4 minutes, I let it count on warm using the 10 minute natural release. My rice comes out great every time. Hope this tip helps.

    • @desireeretiree

As the other person said, about 4 minutes on high pressure, 10 minutes natural release.

Steel cut oats cook nicely in the IP equipment. The rule for foamy foods might be wise to apply here.

So, I needed to replace my worn out rice cooker. The day I was shopping, the 3-quart ultra mini was on sale and cost the same as a rice cooker. I was pretty excited as I bought the IP, knowing the use value would be much higher than the rice cooker anyway. I have a 6-quart already but am in love with my cute little 3-quart. 😉
I really appreciate your tips and info. Thank you.

Winner of a video, I have been researching "what does it mean when an instant pot says burn?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Penaniel Foremost Primacy - (just google it )?
It is a good exclusive guide for discovering how to use great pot recipes to make a delicious meal minus the hard work. Ive heard some great things about it and my cousin got excellent results with it.

Good stuff.. I just trade'd in my 8 qrt for a 3 qrt instant pot duo. in the back side next to the plug there's a stiker and under it has 2 dimples. Is that normal ? I only ask due to I got it from amazon ! It kinda looks like there's screws under it. I just don't want it to have dents that might compromises the insulation.

Let's have a talk about your channel name, "365 days of pressure cooking"........ surely whatever you're cooking would be cooked in a pressure cooker far sooner than 365 days? I don't know of anything that takes 365 days to fully cook.

This video is just a 6 minute monologue and doesn’t show anything. There might be useful content, but I was bored and clicked off after 2 minutes of monotone “talk”. Sorry. 🤷‍♂️

Not very helpful. Would be soooooo much easier if the person making the video would simply say this recipe is for a 3 (6 or 8) qt instant pot and provide any instructions on adjusted the receipe. The instant pot app helps but it just makes adjustments for serving size so I still don't know if I can make the recipe in my mini.
