    Awesome video!! I love my Klim gear when adv riding, and when racing/trail riding. Happy to see those Klim developer guys and gals riding!! That boat was cool too!!

    Klim is a great company and the gear is second to non. A deer was on a suicide mission and literally battle rammed me just outside of Omaha on my trip from Seattle to Memphis this past may. I was doing about 50 MPH when this deer came out of nowhere. I was wearing the Klim Badlands jacket and pants and I will tell you they took a beating. The best part, I got up injury free; I walked away without a scratch (Yes by the time the day wore on and the adrenaline wore off, I was sore). My gear was trashed as well as my bike.
    Best part, if you get up on their website they have a section where if you have an accident you can fill it out along with adding the police report. Klim replaced my entire Badlands riding gear. I just had to send my gear in for research and it was a done deal.
    Needless to say, myself and my boys will support Klim gear from here on out....

    That's probably the best video you've posted. Great tour of Klim followed by some real riding. I personally use Klim summer and winter and being a Klim dealer, I've had a few opportunities to take some of the Klim employees out riding in my back yard!

      I said real riding as a bit of a joke but pushing adventure bikes on hard trails then backing it up with single track.....awesome! Of course the jet boat was an added bonus. Keep it up and if you want to do a video of some single track, Adventure riding, or snowbiking in Montana, let me know. I have some short clips on my TH-cam page.

    I don't have my first bike yet, one day soon, I hope. I'll be using it for commuting and sport touring, and not off road. However, after watching this, I understand my friends who enjoy doing off road riding and Adventure riding. This certainly was an adventure. I'm not sure I could ride these trails, but it sure looked like fun.
    I've been looking for gear as well, and Klim has always been on my list, but since they have always seemed to be more Adventure gear, I'm not sure that they are what I'd really need for the kind of riding I'm planning on. I'd really like to see a video on their more street oriented gear, as well as a video on how to build up layers and such for four seasons riding in the Pacific Northwest.
    Anyway, great video, I really enjoyed it, and it looks like you had a super great time.

    • @EscapeFromRealityAdventures
      @EscapeFromRealityAdventures  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your post Gary! This video is certainly geared more towards adventure riding, because that's what I'm learning how to do. I've only been at it for about 2 1/2 years so you can have fun even as a "Rookie." I certainly can't keep up with the likes of the KLiM folks...
      That said, "there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad gear." Check out their website for more Street-minded touring gear. They've got it! And if you're in the Pacific Northwest, learn a little bit about Gore-Tex :-). Don't let the price tag scare you. Get the right gear, the first time. You can't roll your window up on a motorcycle. Once you get wet, you're going to be miserable all day. Be comfortable, confident and safe. The right gear will do most of that for you!!

    • @GaryMCurran
      @GaryMCurran 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Ride of My Life I have a friend of mine who has Klim, and I'm very well aware of GoreTex. Actually, I was contemplating Klim versus Aerostitch. The Classic Road from Aerostitch isn't really too much more than what the Latitude jacket and pants would cost me, as well as the mid layers. Both have excellent reputations and both a lifetime warranty, so I don't see going wrong with either.

    All I can say is, wow...awesome riding, awesome terrain, and awesome people to ride with. It doesn't get much better than that. Great video editing as well, very entertaining. As for Klim products...it seems like good stuff, and generally well designed, but the "made in China" label really kills the impression. I know they have to stay competitive on labour costs, but Aerostich seems to have figured it out. Need to put a little more effort into shifting manufacturing back to the US...then you would really have a compelling reason to buy Klim over all others (until Andy Goldfine finally decides to start producing mesh jackets...)

    The Klim Krios Pro is a $800 helmet after taxes. You would expect perfection in all aspects and it's almost there BUT the visor will NOT stay where you place it. Open it up a few notches for extra air, first little dip or bump in the road and SLAM down it comes! I love everything about this helmet except the hinge plates. They are very cheaply made. It makes me wonder if anyone that actually rides tests them?? It is a $800 helmet WT Actual F?!

    A) What do they use for mesh in their summer jackets? Do they have abrasion test data showing it won’t melt like most cheap poly-whatever plastics?
    B) At this price point, “made in China” is a problem. My father in law does business with China regularly... there’s good reason his company does not buy Chinese safety equipment or safety-critical equipment. Yes, they CAN build quality products. It requires incredibly hawkish Western oversight to ensure that the products are always made to the correct spec, and that some greedy middle manager doesn’t implement shortcuts to cut cost at the expense of reliability and quality.
    C) Comparison to Motoport gear? Their mesh is supposedly Kevlar, not cheaper plastic based. At the prices Klim commands, I can get a custom tailored Motoport, made in the USA, with real aramid fiber mesh. This stuff goes down at speed on track and still passes tech... yet it’s described for summer use as “flows air like a flyscreen door”. If I’m gonna pay a premium, it better work like a premium product. So how does Klim stack up to Motoport in terms of quality and crashworthiness in the mesh gear?

    • @fushki
      @fushki 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is almost no Rally/ADV gear with slide testing. It worries me and stops me buying it... roads at 80mph are so much smoother than dirt at 80mph... so you really need much tougher slide testing.

    Why is there no slide testing for your gear? From light weight gear Rokker seems to be the only one promoting this. I like the idea of KLIM but will not buy anything until I can see and learn about official slide ratings. Because on dirt you slide off much more than road - and I get it, most ADV riders are on GS and hardly ever go off road but that still doesn't mean gear can be 'word of mouth' tested.
    Right now, other than some Euro brands, it seems ADV brands do no testing on the jackets and pants. And for these prices I can buy a great set of body armour and the best Northface Goretex outer shells and still have cash spare.

    • @martinfoster5163
      @martinfoster5163 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rafael Mlodzianowski I contacted Klim some months ago. Since they want to continue selling in the EU, they’ve had their gear EN17092 certified (that’s the full garment). The rating is AA for everything in their 2019/2020, except the Hardanger (1 piece suit) which is A. So that gives you a basis of comparison.
      Personally, I layer a covec (aramid-like) undersuit with built in armour, then add layers on top as appropriate.

    • @fushki
      @fushki 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@martinfoster5163
      AA and AAA are more to do with armour than slide protection. So slide can be 2-10sec and garment is still AA.
      Rokker Black Jacket (denim) has 6.7sec slide which is stronger than race leathers. This is what ADV gear should be made to do.
      This video really made my fears for slide testing of Klim be rationalised th-cam.com/video/hghnw4va8Jw/w-d-xo.html
      Also the EU AA rating isn't really that amazing:
      Class AA: Motorcycle clothing in this class is well suited for touring riders. This class protects against weather conditions and has a relatively high abrasion resistance.

    • @martinfoster5163
      @martinfoster5163 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rafael Mlodzianowski EN17092 is not agressive at all compared to the EN13595 for impact abrasion. However, EN17092 has much harder tear, burst and cut tests than the previous standards. Apparently a lot of textiles can pass the abrasion (it’s 40-60% less agressive than the previous standard) but can’t pass the other tests. This is according to Motocap.com.au experts. EN17092 requires armour to be installed in the limbs but I don’t think they specify which level of armour. Armour has its own test called EN1621 level 1 and level 2. This is common knowledge. I try to buy EN13595 level 2 garments and EN1621 level 2 armour. My choices: are 2 piece leather over my undersuit, or Aldi textile touring suit. I think both would survive this crash and be reusable with few or no repairs.
      I’d be very depressed if my $1400 jacket and $900 pants were write-offs after a fairly short slide.

    • @fushki
      @fushki 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@martinfoster5163 I am not looking into armour on this. Armour is easy to upgrade and personally I prefer wearing an armour underlayer.
      for external I often run mountaineering goertex jackets (tough and waterproof) but I wanted something more slide resistant (in summer town riding I wear my Rokker Black Jacket - 6.7s slide testing) and well I wanted jacket and pants for traveling/off roading in that are more like my mountain gear but would last a couple of slides and not melt.
      In comes Klim. However seeing $3000 worth of gear fail on a damp short slide I and the lack of advertised slide resistance I don't trust it.
      Especially when in the video you see that it seems the 'reinforced' parts failing the most.
      Looks like over priced gear sold to amateur riders thinking they are now a tough world adventurer.

      Rafael Mlodzianowski I hear and agree with you. The newer Badlands Pro was actually tested at Motocap.com.au and the zone 1 and 2 high abrasion risk zones got 3.5 seconds. You can check it out yourself, if you like. I believe that’s better than the previous “super fabric” which it replaced. However, the main chassis of the jacket just gets about 0.4-0.6 seconds. This is on the En13595 style “Cambridge” test. A tough test but similar abrasion to chip-seal road. The new test is less agressive concrete “Darmstadt”.
      All in all, textiles won’t be very effective much without a full abrasion lining, kevlar/covec/(or similar) loop knit anti abrasion, intermediate layer.

    Klim, make a knee brace that fits my small and skinny legs. Most small knee braces from major brands don't fit my skinny leg

    Klim is a joke. If you go to their website, less than 25% of their SKUs are currently available available. And if you live in a popular size body like me, it is probably less less than 10% availability. How can you get behind a brand when they cannot deliver a product, The real joke on their website is the promotion of “kits” with color coordinated helmet, goggles, jerseys, pants and gloves. The probability of putting together a kit in your sizes and color choice is essentially zero.

    Love the tour of the factory.
    All these happy workers sipping lattes all day, using the right pronouns, chatting with their union reps...
    Oh, no, hang on... the factory is in CHINA.

      Did you have a point? US' imports of textiles and apparel rose by 16.03 per cent to $132.201 billion in 2022, compared to $113.938 billion in 2021. With a 25.65 per cent share, China continues to be the largest supplier of textiles and clothing to the US, followed by Vietnam with 14.87 per cent.
      Did you want this gear to be MORE expensive?
      And since you overlooked some pretty basic details. the KLiM headquarters is in Rigby, Idaho. I believe they’ve got their pronouns in line with science as well as the English language.
