Gracie, thanks for filling in the fine details that others might assume are obvious. The signs of a great teacher are that they first, know the fine details of the subject and second, do not assume the student knows any of those details. I don't mind sitting through information that I THOUGHT I knew because the repeated info reinforces and fills in my weak spots. Much of what you teach in this lesson was absolutely foreign to me so, you made my intellectual day with this lesson. I'm really looking forward to the next lesson as to the whys of the minor scales.

Ms Gracie, you are such a skilled teacher. It is truly amazing how you can take what is often inscrutable (music theory) and then for those of us who started out learning music by ear translate that it into concepts that finally make sense. What is particularly distinctive is not just the "tricks" to memorizing these rules, but perhaps more importantly, the genuine graciousness with which you deliver the teaching. Like so many here, i have learned so much under your tutelage. Thank you very much.

I am so glad you did this as better way of indicating minor scales by mentioning the relative major.
I really thought you should’ve done this before doing the three minor scales. Simple because telling someone to flatten a sharp can lead to serious cognitive dissonance in beginners. Regardless, you are an awesome teacher. Even with the degree music and advanced study in theory, I still enjoy your presentations. Dr Johnson

@@GracieTerzian Thanks Gracie for the lesson , I worked on it all weekend since posting it for us.. I think what did it for me was drawing all 3 on the white Board next to the major scale , mainly seeing the 6th and 7th positions, all in correlation to each other , plus I play guitar , so once I had gotten the patterns down I could move them up and down the fretboard, as you did in the key of "C" and key of "D" and then "E" , so thanks and GOD BLESS , looking forward to what you have next , I'm working on modes of these same scales. . Although I don't seem to get how they come up with these new modes , all just by introducing 1 new note...I'm just taking in little by little as you did suggest or its easy to get overwhelmed. .Thanks again

    Excellent video !
With this one, I ended up in the twiligth zone with this weird melodic minor scale whose notes differ depending on whether you play it in an ascending or a descending way !
But it does not even hurt that bad ! And I am not even scared,... since I have got a good teacher with me !

Such timing, as a piano player I just started learning the minor scales last week. You've made it simpler than the books I have to make sense of it. Looking forward to the continuation of this series. Thank you!

Esto es una mnenomica para facilitar las diferencias entre las escalas mayor, su relativa menor y los grados modales de ésta. Traducchon!. Saludos!.

I’ve been watching your music theory videos trying to get a handle on theory. Must be working because I understand this video.
    Thanks for another excellent tutorial.

Once again you’ve explained a confusing concept (to me) clearly. Love the white board and pace of the lesson. Thanks
