In some hallowed music conservatory, there is a professor worrying about his tenure because you are giving away his lessons for free. THANK YOU GRACIE TERZIAN!
When it came to music theory I was like Homer Simpson. I was struggling to concentrate but since watching your videos and the way you teach I'm totally focused. Thank you for putting the videos on TH-cam..👍
I don’t binge-watch movies on tv. I DO binge-watch music theory videos and yours are the BEST on TH-cam. Thank you so much for all you do. I would love to have you for a teacher.
Gracie, thanks for filling in the fine details that others might assume are obvious. The signs of a great teacher are that they first, know the fine details of the subject and second, do not assume the student knows any of those details. I don't mind sitting through information that I THOUGHT I knew because the repeated info reinforces and fills in my weak spots. Much of what you teach in this lesson was absolutely foreign to me so, you made my intellectual day with this lesson. I'm really looking forward to the next lesson as to the whys of the minor scales.
You are gifted to teach. Thank you so much for sharing this and taking the time to explain things. I've never taken a music class until now and I got so lost. Next week is midterms. I'm so thankful that I found your channel. Thanks!
Excellent! You explain these concepts with crystal clarity. On my second attempt to look at minor scales I came across this video and you've made everything just fall into place. Thank you!
You teach with love and energy that inspires, not only by your knowledge but your unique ability to impart it. This can be both humbling and addictive, a musical treasure.
OK, who are the knuckleheads who give this lesson a "thumbs down"? These must be the same folks who go out to boo an Easter egg hunt! Great job, Gracie. Thanks.
Ms Gracie, you are such a skilled teacher. It is truly amazing how you can take what is often inscrutable (music theory) and then for those of us who started out learning music by ear translate that it into concepts that finally make sense. What is particularly distinctive is not just the "tricks" to memorizing these rules, but perhaps more importantly, the genuine graciousness with which you deliver the teaching. Like so many here, i have learned so much under your tutelage. Thank you very much.
I've been binging your videos for hours. I've been playing piano and guitar for over 30 years, mostly self taught to play by ear. I wanted to learn music theory and found your videos, and I'm glad I did!
Gracie, You helped me so much. I'm taking each key( starting with A, and am learning the major, minors, looking at harmonic and melodic scales. Also the corresponding chords. Now I have a plan for learning my guitar. Thank you, Shari
Your Music Theory videos are just stunning. Thanks to you I learned the western 12-TET system and interconections between its notes in no time. I watched more videos about circle of fifths, scales, chords etc... It also added something to overall understanding, but your way of teaching and explaining is truly one of the best out there and makes understanding a breeze. Thank you for the time you put in to make these videos.
Your use of the white board is so valuable. Watching you write it out allows me to copy you and learn better. All the glitzy videos with visual graphics are pretty but not a tenth as useful for learning. Thank you for taking the time. The end of this video also shows why the Amin scale is under the Cmaj scale on the circle of fifths.
Learning how to play the guitar you are the best teacher I have found so far and the prettiest one also I have been married to a redhead for 35 years God bless you and yours👍🏻🤘🏻
I wish I had your videos when I was taking theory as a music major in college! You make it so much easier to understand! Thank you for sharing what you know :)
Hi, I just started watching Friday. And that day I took my 1st lesson from Sweetwater. I've been playing two and a half yrs on my own. But they told me learn the diatonic scales, but when I started watching everything you've posted. I've learned twice as much from you since Friday. You explained it so well I caught on immediately. So thank you so much. If I could pay you I would
I love that you explained the intervals at the end but overall, this was a helpful video to review something that I once looked into and have forgotten.
Thanks so much…I’m starting to study piano and bass guitar and I’ve learned an awful lot about minor scales and how to read , write , and understand how to find them from this video.✨
Yes, Gracie I may not be normal, I watched 2-1 and 1-2, but! I get it! And they say you can't teach a old dog new trix. You have proved them wrong! Thank you doll

Thank you Gracie for breaking down your lesson in layman's terms. You make it so easy to understand. You are a fantastic teacher. You proceed at the right pace making it easy to follow you. I am working my way through all your lessons. Thank you for taking the time to help others.
I think the way you teach is so good for the beginner. You explain the theory of music so simple Thant anyone can understand it. Omg, finally a real music teacher.
In my opinion, this is the best of a lot of excellent introductory TH-cam videos on the 3 types of minor scales and their relations pairwise to major scales. Thanks for posting.
Gracie you are amazing! You just explained in 3-5 seconds, what I have watched countless TH-cam videos and participated in hours of instruction and still not understood. 'A scale is a melody' that can be also explain modes, etc. You changed my whole understanding in one simple sentence. Now I get it. Thank you. Also, you know your a new mommy when... we move up a third, 'like a bunny hopping'🌻🐇
I am so glad you did this as better way of indicating minor scales by mentioning the relative major. I really thought you should’ve done this before doing the three minor scales. Simple because telling someone to flatten a sharp can lead to serious cognitive dissonance in beginners. Regardless, you are an awesome teacher. Even with the degree music and advanced study in theory, I still enjoy your presentations. Dr Johnson
Gracie - thanks for your uploads. Of all the tutorials I've watched, yours always shines the most. Eloquently spoken and taught. PS thanks for also mentioning the reversal on the E Melodic and Harmonic from the D and C charts
