Of course his ideas about how those problems are caused are hilariously out of touch and should only be used as a very simplistic explanation of the brain at best, but even the complete quack he sold opened the door to a better understanding of how the brain can both seriously enhance and mess up your body at the same time.
Also, his theory of id, ego and super-ego might not be accurate, but it does a decent job of explaining the basic concept of subconscious thinking that lies at the basic of placebo effects and other wacky stuff.
