I feel like a mortar pit behind those trees near the ammo point and a single land mattress would have been a better choice than 2 land mattresses. Also, I think a 17 pounder somewhere between the left VP and the ammo point would have been better than 2 cromwells. It maybe a bofors near the middle. I don't always build a sim city unless i'm trying to lock down a single point in a 3v3 or a 4v4. But there isn't much that can take a single shot from the 17 pounder and a firefly and still be able to fight without dying to the next volley. I think British emplacements, when placed in just the right spot, are the factions greatest strength. Provided of course that you give them the necessary support. You dont need to build them all in the same area. An MG can cover a 17 pounder or mortar pit pretty well. Especially inside a trench. Also providing sight for it. Wherever there is a cliff or hard to reach space within range of the enemies approach I always try to build a mortar pit. And on smaller maps I will go for a bofors near a choke point, usually accompanied by an AT gun and another mortar pit. One you have these set up properly, I feel like there's not much that a crocodile+firefly+infantry can't deal with. I also think that while the land mattress is a bit weak compared to other rocket artillery, its salvo fires for a good amount of time and covers a decent amount of ground, so they are best for area denial. or for firing into the enemies retreat path. If there is a good position for any emplacement, I will always try to get one up. For what they cost, they are highly effective vs any other unit for the resources. Also, since the enemy is going to want to take it out, it makes positioning your crewed weapons much easier because you know they'll eventually come after them. mortars are highly effective against axis because their base infantry does very little dps on the move and if they are in range, they will have to pick between risking it in cover or moving. Also, whenever I am not being engaged, i fire smoke from mortars into enemy territory at random just to confuse them and potentially make them reposition for an attack that never comes.
This will probably not get seen, but what is CoH2 like playing the same faction against itself? IE soviets vs soviets?? or Brits vs US. If you think about it, thats 60% of the match ups faction wise havent been tried? I could see Brits meshing very with OKH and OKW and Soviets been quite complementary.

Top tier british tips in 4v4 games. Don't go Churchill or cromwell, it's worthless against german mid to heavy tanks. Churchill purpose is to initiate smoke then reverse to assault an area or be a hitting target. Cromwell is for run and gun to get german artilery trucks. Kill all german tanks with this must learn tactic: Sherman firefly shuffle forward and backward with spotter troops.(To get 90%+ hit rates equip faction with armor pierce 4% and upgrade firefly with spot 25 ammunition.) Panthers will always ram in to chase firefly down, all you have to do is hit once and reverse button (don't use mouse command hit the button then point mini map reverse back to base.) all the way back to base if you have to, panther will get hit multiple times guaranteed chasing you, hell most of my german tank kills come from them chasing me. As for King , you get at least 75% hit rate not deflection after the first bounce in front armor plate. sides and back all kill maximum damage. 2 Sherman firefly can take out a king. Go engineers in after mid game as the at grenades stop german tanks at their feet engine damage no running, upgraded Heavy Engineers upgrade with double piat can kill german tanks alone. No need to be conservative / get veterancy style, play sacrifice and expendable way as german tanks take forever to repair and replace. Thus time is on your side with capture the flag if you sacrifice a tank ramming in to finish off a panther, king , elephant etc.

It seems impossible to win the engagements and cover the map, even if I go like 4 infantry and a uc myself. How do I counter this early rush which beats me every time? It usually ends with them getting a tank like 6 or 7 minutes in, having 3/4 of the map and I just cant seem to keep up.

My advice to you would be make sure you are always using cover in your engagements and only take the fights you stand a chance of winning.
