Marienville Trails, Allegheny National Forest: Where To Stay for ATV UTV OHV Dual Sport Motorcycles

There are places in this world that are so beautiful as to take your breath away; where the accommodations are so lush, so luxurious, that you scarcely want to even leave your room.
This is not one of those places.
Sure, the scenery is beautiful here, but the Forest Lodge and Campground is ALL ABOUT getting out and enjoying the outdoors.
Located on PA Route 66 Northeast of Marienville Pennsylvania, it is ideally situated for guests to access the OHV and ATV trails through Allegheny National Forest. Accommodations are simple but sufficient for recovering between rides, and both the lodge and campsites have ride-in/ride-out access, but are far enough from the main trail to keep noise and distractions from disrupting rest or family activities.
For those who require creature comforts like indoor plumbing there are other places to stay in the area, but if you don't mind a short walk to the showers, and you want to be on the trail in just minutes, without the hassle of loading or trailering, the Forest Lodge and Campground is just about perfect.
Last summer my family booked a week at the campground and stayed at an electric-only camper site. the sites are somewhat level, but you should be aware that the road was a bit rough, with some loose stones that made getting in and out kinda tricky. Four-wheel-drive is recommended if you're pulling a bigger camper.
Later in the season, I rented a cabin with my sons and a couple friends for a weekend getaway, and we found it to be just as welcoming - nothing fancy, but decorated in a fun and eclectic style, and plenty comfortable - everything we needed, really.
The lodge offers several other room types, at very reasonable rates, and we found the staff to be easy to work with, and very accommodating to the off-roaders who make up the majority of their guests.
The campground offers a slightly-precarious ramp onto Duhring Road, which is designated as part of the trail for use by ATVs and OHVs between 7am and 10pm. From there, the Pigeon Connector leads to both the Penoke Trail and the Marienville Trail, which connects to the Timberline Trail through the Pigs Ear. DJ's Russel City Store is a nice mid-day stop in this area, and offers drinks, sandwiches and ice cream, along with a variety of other needs and curiosities. They've even got a spot on the porch to relax for a bit before getting back on the trail. It's worth knowing that DJ's also offers trail rescues at no charge, so it makes sense to support their business.
