Quick comment on rule stuff: NPC Wild Cards get two bennies since they can also draw from the GM pile. Also, Frenzy is two Fighting dice, plus a wild die if Wild Card, as a single action. That being said, in a solo game, anything goes, so long as you're cool with it. I just mentioned it for those who are still learning SWADE. I loved watching this episode. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Jason, thank you for the clarification. My confusion came from the wording that it could “be at the same or a different target”? So I assume I could still do that like I did, excepting that there would only be one wild die to split amongst them, and they would be rolled at the same time… does that sound correct to you?
No I don’t think so. I believe it works the same way multiple Rate of Fire missile weapons work. Each Shooting Die in that case is a separate ‘attack’ but all part of the same ‘action’, meaning that you only get to roll one ‘wild die’ for the entire ‘action’, and it can only be used to replace one ‘attack’. So in the case of frenzy, I would make the extra attack at the same time as the first, because they are the same action, but would only roll one wild die. Then I have two attacks, same as I played it, but the timing and the number of wild dice is different. It changes it a bit, but in the case of the play through, end result is the same… gave the monster a small buff.
Almost. Since they happen as part of the same action, you roll both attacks at the same time with one wild die. You can choose to use the wild die for either attack.
Recent subscriber, first time commenter, interested in solo play and SWADE. Hope this will be a short series. I really appreciate you saying/inferring several times, 'It's your game, you're solo, if it's good for you it's good for the game'. I have issues doing that. When soloing, if I find out down the road I was doing something wrong, though I was having fun, I want to scrap the whole thing. Like I was cheating. Who was I cheating? Myself? Bah, I'll just have to remember, 'You do it to!' We're cheaters LOL
But truthfully, I think this is why GM’s have an advantage in solo play… we are used to gently placing our thumb on the scale in favor of the players to make the story move in a satisfying direction. So I ask myself, “what would I do if I had other players than myself?” No reason to be harsher to me than I would be to them in the same situation. Don’t get me wrong, I wind up with deaths in solo games, but I do in group play as well…. I just don’t let strict adherence to the rules ruin a good story.
This was an excellent episode. It’s good to see Savage Worlds getting an outing. I have to say that I like the look of your Savage Sun conversion. Looks like it might pair well with Disciples of Bone and Shadow if you want try Hex Crawling. Thank you for sharing this.
There are a lot of good systems right now. I'm mostly into Advanced Fighting Fantasy and Shadowdark, but you've opened my mind to this possibility, too. Thanks for that. Keep up the excellent work here.
This sort of thing seems really neat. I jumped into the Discord to check out your Savage Sun conversion and it's just a neat thing to watch stuff like this. Thanks for doing the work of putting it out there
I love SW! It's great for solo because once you got the basics down you are good to go in any genre you can dream up. It also allows you to start playing with basic rules and add more as desired. I always use gridded maps with SW so no ruler is needed.
Totally viable to ditch the tape measure in that case!

Great initiative! Savage Worlds has been my favourite RPG for many years now. I am curious why you didn't use the same action with the multi-action, for instance shooting the bow twice instead of shooting the bow and throwing a knife, because in SWADE you can repeat the same action. Cheers!
Good question, in both cases it comes down to the Multi Action penalty and rules that allow the characters to ignore it. For Tr’Klatt, he is a Mantis Man, with extra appendages racial advantage. It allows you to ignore the first set of -2 for multiple actions, but only if you are using the extra appendages to do so… so two arms were using the bow, and the extra set of appendages threw the knife. For Tark, he has Ambidextrous and Two Fisted, also allowing him to ignore the first -2 multiple action penalty, but only if he takes one attack with both weapons. So in both cases you refer to, it was to ignore the penalty. Later in the play, Tr’Klatt actually does shoot his bow twice.
Brother, first, thanks for replying yesterday. I've been going through your videos and have a couple questions: 1. I notice in this video in particular you're using a map and tape measure, it looks cool haha. But how do you feel Savage World plays when I don't have a lot of space? I only have a computer desk to play on, does SWADE still play fine with limited space and some abstracted measurements? 2. Do you find SWADE has a lot of book keeping? I noticed when you read the Wyvern's stat block it had edges that you had to go back and read from the core book. Does this matter much to you for speed, or is it pretty quick and light?
Very welcome. 1). Some enemies and edges benefit from a larger area, but a larger area isn’t necessary. As an example, in most of my last two group sessions I have had dungeon/tavern scenarios where they all took place in a 2’ x 1’ area. 2) very little book keeping. No hit points to track, no experience points to track, many enemies die in a single wound. There are a lot of edge/keywords, but they all have pretty consistent effects, so not too hard to grok.
I know that is the most common thing I hear from people, “I’d like to play solo but I just don’t know how to get started.” Figured if I did some of these for different systems, I could help ease that first step for people.
I was trying to think through what could be the ultimate find, that wouldn’t break the game, even if it would be huge in world… I looked at the Dwarven Forge cavern walls and noticed copper veins. Seemed fortuitous to have answered my question for me! Thanks!

so is it like a 2d8 fighting attack?

I’ve played Shadowdark, and I’ve been eyeing FF for years, someday I will pick it up! Thanks for watching!
Great video! Just what I was planning on doing in the near-future, so this is very helpful!
Awesome! Enjoy your games.

Timely! I'm looking to solo some weird western, and I'm looking at Deadlands SWADE. Thanks!
Crater Lake Chronicles is pretty inexpensive and has a few different solo adventures in it. I ran the first and enjoyed it.
Amazing video. I can't wait to see more. 😊
Thank you, Dangar. Hopefully you are able to benefit from the Savage Sun conversion as well.
Good reminder of how useful swade is for solo play
Thanks Brads! SWADE is definitely flexible.

@@booksbricksandboards783 I loved the touch of them finding a metal deposit on Athas. Awesome touch for the world lore.

Great Video 👍 Where did you get that cool GM Screen?
Fun 3D Prints on Etsy. Thank you!
Looks fun. I need to consider solo SWADE.
It lends itself to solo play because it is so procedural, and has short decision trees.
