Back in my Broadcasting days decades ago, Her office would call me within minutes of every major news making event, to see if we wanted an interview with her stating her feelings/thoughts on the matter. She could be a bit bombastic; a little pushy & self-righteous, but I never doubted what she truly believed in, why she believed as she did & the impact & relevance she felt she had with her communities in DC & Houston. Overall,she was ‘a good egg’ as they say. RIP, SJL.
