Happy birthday, Elvis! You will forever remain a legend for all time! I recommend making more reactions to one of the coolest female vocalists in the world. Diana Ankudinova - Queen of Goosebumps - Diana received such a title for her extraordinary unique voice. Diana's best performances - Derniere Danse, Wicked Game, Human, It's a Man's Man's Man's World, Can't Help Falling in You (you made a reaction to this Elvis Presley song).
I'm white lived white black true people but I always felt different I'm assuming it scares me how dumb people are white black br I wn green gay bi we are pieces of a puzzle.
He's the 🐐 OF ROCK AND ROLL, He grew up very poor in Memphis, sang in a all black church, his back up singers are black this is during segregation, he refused to do a concert without them, many many black singers he was friends with, Sammy davis Jr, Stevie wonder...the list goes on. Watch the you tube story, it explains A Lot
He did not just refuse, he ordered an open car for his black choir to ride with him and be paraded along the city, and insisted that the car be driven by a white driver.😂 After that the concert was held because when it was leaked to the news that Elvis was cancelling there were riots
Elvis grew up in a Tupelo, Mississippi ghetto; Dad, Vern, was in jail for bad checks. At age 14, they moved to the Memphis, Tennessee projects. He sang in a black church...Gospel was his first love...he sang "That's All Right, Mama" in 1954, when a teenager for his Mother's birthday, at Sun Records. He was a Spec 4 in the Army, got out in 2 years. Released "Heartbreak Hotel" in 1956 to a massive amount of controversy from religious groups because of his movements. He made a string of musical romance movies, that he didn't want to do. Finally got a decent script for "King Creole", his only b&w movie. He just wanted to make music. His singing career took a dip when his wife left him, and the Beatles arrived, his "Comeback Tour" helped immensely. When he sang "In the Ghetto", which his manager thought would kill his career, he fought to sing it, (it was written by Mac Davis, who originally titled it "The Vicious Circle") and here we are...as relevent, and often played, today, 57 years later, as it was in 1969, when it was released. His backup singers were the Sweet Inspirations, which included Cissy Houston, mother of Whitney Houston. Thank you for your great reaction.
That was in Texas they said leave you colored girls at home!!!E got a convertible him and his girls drove round and round in that stadium so all could see!!! He said if they don’t come I don’t!!!! ❤❤❤ gotta love someone just for that!!!!❤❤❤
Elvis grew up in extreme poverty. And so did the man who wrote the song for him. He was also white and his name is Mac Davis. One of his backup singers was Donna Summer, who had hits of her own in the late 70s.
He was an incredible man, In real life, he also gave cars ,money, food to people in need, his daughter did a clauberation of in the ghetto. Its on tube very moving as well made me cry as well.look for Elvis / Lisa singing in the Ghetto so beautiful. I think you have beautiful emotions, never be inbarresed and your beautifu
Many of my favorite hip hop acts of the 90s shitted on Elvis but when you look deeper he grew up in poverty. I’m sure when he came across this mac Davis song it probably touched him. He was also known as generous man. He also battled venues who didn’t want to let his back up singer in the building
If this song doesn't hit you in the heart, you have no soul. This is still relevant today. Elvis was ahead of his time with this one. And so many others. King of Rock and Roll Forever.
Happy heavenly birthday Elvis! We love and miss you! Elvis lived in poverty. 1 of 4 white families living in prominently black neighborhood during awful times of segregation. His neighbors helped his family. He grew up in church and loved gospel rythm & blues. Please check out If I Can Dream in white suit 68 Comeback Special. It was written for him after MLK assassination and Kennedy. The most passionate performance you'll ever see!!! Great reaction and thank u!!! TCB ⚡❤
Great reaction. Thank you for providing your personal perspective! Elvis grew up in poverty in the deep south. He listened to gospel music in the revival tents. He listened to blues. He saw what poverty could do firsthand to a son and his mother - as his father had to do time for writing a bad check. He had a deep relationship with his Mom who died when he was 23. Other viewers suggest "If I Can Dream" and I wholly agree. For some hopping fun Elvis performances, I also recommend "Polk Salad Annie" and "Suspicious Minds" from the 1970 Vegas shows.
A powerful song great performance from Elvis a great message sad to think it's still relevant today thank you RIP Elvis 88 today his birthday the Goat 🐐
Elvis the king of the world no one well every take his place such a kind Manur life was two short but God had a plan for u so sing with the angles Sir always loved from clare Ireland 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤
Great reaction to a great performance. Elvis always rebelled the system against racial inequality to the point if his background singers wasn't wanted...he would not go. ❤️
To add some; Myrna Smith (of the Sweet Inspirations) said; 1970, Elvis was going to perform at the Houston Astrodome. He was told "You can leave the Black girls home", so he wasn't going to do the gig. Of course, the Dome relented. Usually, Elvis was driven around open arenas by himself. At the Dome, he made them provide 2 cars. Myrna said he "Demanded we be given the star treatment. We had to be in our convertible, where everyone could see us & our little blonde could drive us." There's vid on TH-cam of the 2 convertibles driving around the Dome arena.

When God created my friend Elvis he was just showing off. I can't tell you how much i love and miss him, there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of him and all the memories we made in 10 short years, his death knocked the wind out of me i have never been the same since, Elvis was the big brother i never had. He is also my guardian angel. Graceland is my go to place when it get's to hard to live w/o my friend i go there and walk around and remember Elvis and all the beautiful times we had together. He was the only person in my life that understood me and cared about my feelings and opinions. What it comes down to is we both needed a true friend and we were that for each other. Awesome reaction. Elvis grew up in the ghetto in Mississippi, in extreme poverty. He personally knew the experience. Once fame brought him money, he gave away cars, jewelry, money, etc to complete strangers. He was the most generous, talented entertainer EVER .

Watch the video "Elvis Presley and the Black Community" and that will give you an good idea of how Elvis fought his heart out for the innocent downtrodden.. I live in Birmingham, AL. We have two-three murders everyday. Children shot while sleeping, babies in their car seat. Pregnant woman killed on her doorstep. Fathers, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts…someone’s family. Walked out their door and never went home again. You think you aren’t affected. But. You. Are.
Unfnnortunately what Elvis was singing back in the day is stll happening... Something is wrong with this country......... It's still happening 45 yrs later.
This still hits home even today. Some want to help the children, Veterans and poor. Some assume they are just lazy. They just don't get the education, the jobs are not there. They don't know there can be something different because there is not many that can or will help. I love how Elvis enunciates so well. Thank you for your response to Elvis.
Elvis Presley "IF I Can Dream" 68 Comeback Special (White Suit) This was Elvis's Powerful and Heartfelt Tribute to Dr Martin Luther King Jr after his Assasination in Memphis Tennessee where Elvis Lived. It was based on MLK's "I Have A Dream Speech" it was also Dedicated to Robert Kennedy who was also Assasinated that same year. This was During the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War, These were Troubled times in America.
When Elvis said "Whaaat!" @5:57 he was absolutely using this song to express his personal madness from his heart and send a message. Normally he said, "Thank you ver much" at the end of his songs with a smile, this one and the one recorded after MLK died, "Dream" he was visibly upset.
I'm 78 yr white women lived in projects unless u know lived pain being poor looked down on, hungry, I feel the people's pain all people especially the poor, l learned not taught I had to fight to survive. Rough wY to no real help. I know now love, caring means so much from the Heart .Live helping each other help always help
Elvis Presley came from Tupelo Mississippi and was poor for a long time. His family went to a Baptist church which was mostly black. Elvis Presley grew up not knowing racism or color. The man was incredible.
RE: your comment abt his Black B/G singers… true story: back in 1970 he was booked to play Houston, TX. The promoters told him he could just leave his Black girls behind. He replied that if they weren’t welcome, then he wasn’t coming either. So yes, he definitely stood up for all people.
Mac Davis who wrote the song said his original lyrics were Vicious Circle. Spot on! He grew up so poor but his best friend a black kid had it so much worse. If you haven't already look up his interviews at the time he wrote it. Peace.
Great reaction thank you for sharing this video from someone as young as you you certaintly understood why Elvis sang this song . He cared about people and he was generous toward them .
Wow! You live 2.5 hrs east of me as I’m in Columbia. This song needs to be played for Congress because the problem has only gotten worse since Mac Davis wrote this song back in 1968. Elvis was born in extreme poverty during the Great Depression in a shot gun shanty on the wrong side of the tracks in East Tupelo. Mississippi. He never forgot his roots, and was never racist. The girl group behind him, the Sweet Inspirations, will back me up on this. Look them up!
Elvis is the greatest on this song written by Mac Davis. I live in KC, MO, and you'lll excuse me if i say we all love each other here. We get along here. Come to Good ol' K.C. AND I LOVE YOUR SHIRT!!
Even Sammy Davis wouldn't touch this song in the race riot-filled 1960s. But Sammy told the songwriter Mac Davis that he knew a man that SHOULD sing this song because he understood THAT LIFE better than he did, Mr Elvis Presley. Elvis was born first grew up in a SHACK with NO RUNNING WATER and NO ELECTRICITY. Played and prayed with black children and families. His mother make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for his friends who were primarily black. Elvis called his friends' black parents and grandparents MR and MRS. --- White folks down south never did that. Elvis was FAMILY in the black community he grew up in Tupelo Mississippi and Memphis Tennessee. See Elvis was so popular that he became a meme, BUT THE MAN, no he was the exact opposite. NO entertainer was as brave as Elvis in this era. MLK got assassinated. John AND Robert Kennedy got assassinated. Malcom X got assassinated. What did they have in common? CIVIL RIGHTS. So Elvis was a PRIME TARGET at this time. What did Elvis do? His label, RCA and a top RCA executive said they can't release "IN THE GHETTO" because of the then current racial and social tensions. Elvis heard it and said, "That's my next single, son" and walked away. Only Elvis was willing to risk his career to get that record on the air-waves. Only Elvis could have performed it and gotten the radio play when it came out in the late 1960's, during the Civil Rights Movement. He made it his platform. One of his major public statements on the issues of racism and poverty in America. Without uttering a single press release or public statement. Not a single political word or comment. Amazing power of song by a very brave and loving human being that never got, nor asked for credit. That's what you call A TRUE REBEL.
Beautiful, I'm a 54 yrs.old woman grew up in the projects in Philadelphia and let me just say. When living in the projects don't matter what race you are it's hard for EVERYONE. This song and" HELL IS FOR CHILDREN" from Pat Benatar. Both songs hit the soul..If you haven't heard "HELL IS FOR CHILDREN" PLEASE REACT TO THIS SONG AS WELL IT WILL FOR SURE HIT YOUR SOUL, BECAUSE THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE YOU KNEW THAT LIVED IT AND BEING A CHILD NOT UNDERSTANDING REALLY SUCKS ...I LIVED IT. YOU EITHER GET LOST IN IT FOR LIFE.OR YOU GROW FROM IT..ME MYSELF WAS EMANCIPATED BY A JUDGE AT 14 TO LIVE ON MY OWN.
If I Can Dream from the 68 Special is also very powerful and moving. Elvis in the late 60s & early 70s was at the top of his game. Hope you enjoy learning about him...
Great revue and presentation. I remember when Mac Davis wrote this song and offered it to a few different singers. None of them would touch it because it was too controversial for them. Mac offered it to Elvis and he did the song that the others were afraid to do.
4:40 You made my allergies act up and yeah I have to tell you straight up, I am a guy that is 60 years old and it totally breaks my heart that were still having the same conversations today.
I live near St. Louis and I am a HUGE Elvis fan! "If I Can Dream" is a must watch! My daddy was one day older than Elvis, I'm 59 now! Elvis is THE KING! There will never be another! I could suggest many songs. ""Trying to get to You" from the '68 comeback special
Mac Davis wrote this song. It's original title was The Vicious Circle. Elvis' producers changed it when he insisted he was going to record it. They didn't believe it would sell. Turned into one of Elvis' biggest hits.
Rainey, I was born in sikston. Mo,. 2 hours from St Louis. Elvis was born in ghetto. Did you know Elvis had a twin,. Jesse garron that died at birth. 🌹🌹🌹💔💔💔
Its so sad that its still happening. I am 62 and heard this when i was a teenager. It hit me hard. I still tear up cause every word is so true. There is so much heart and soul in this song. I am glad you did this.
Good reaction, thank you for sharing...I can relate to this song as well...We were a family of nine kids and a sick father who lost his job after 28 years working in Pittsburgh, Pa., We lived a community called Lincoln Beach, really don't know why wasn't any beach there...But we were one of five white families in the beach all the rest were black families...All of us children played together and were great friends...We were all poor at that point and life got tough...Dad went to a sanitorium where people had to stay that had Tuberculous, a communicable disease at that time...After we had lived with grand parents for awhile our dad came home and we went to live in a small house in Kentucky...We had $115.00 a month for everything, food, utilities, clothes from the thrift...Two beds, the girls in one and dad and the boys in the other...One meal a day, but some of the kids were old enough to work in the lunch room at school so they did get to eat for working...Sorry, not having a pity party just want to say- much like Elvis and family, we had so much love for one another that made it all okay...We did learn to love other people and no one was turned away from our table with what we had...And I look back on those days and realize how blessed we were...Love conquers all...Take care and God Bless...
Elvis grew up in a poor community in the Memphis area. He saw this first hand. That is why he has soul in his music and is known as the King!! He wrote and sang this in the late 60s or early 70s. Fitting for that era and sadly, still fits in today's society 60 years later.
Rainey. Great reaction. Watch his mlk tribute If I Can Dream. YOu called it on his backup singers. In Dallas he was told "to leave the black girls home". Catch his response in the documentary Elvis and The Black Community.
New subscriber. Great reaction! Elvis was one of the best, period. For another performer to react to, one who had similar reactions when venues tried to deny his black bassist to play with him, check out "Take Five", by Dave Brubeck. He once canceled an ENTIRE tour in the South because a promoter tried to get him to drop his black bassist (who's name I don't know; I stink with names). That is epic. In particular, react to the video recorded live in Belgium in 1964. Great jazz, man. Great jazz.
Happy birthday, Elvis!

Elvis was true. He wasn’t a phony. He sang what he knew. He grew up poor and never forgot that.
This song still stands the test of time. Even after he had success and money, he gave so much of it away to so many people in many different ways.
And he bought his maid a house that she always wanted for herself. Elvis grew up dirt pour in a small ghetto town. Tupelo, Mississippi.

I love your perspective. I am 69 years old and never thought about the cycle repeating itself.
One of his backup singers was Whitney Houston’s Mother!
This still hits home even today. Some want to help the children, Veterans and poor. Some assume they are just lazy. They just don't get the education, the jobs are not there. They don't know there can be something different because there is not many that can or will help. I love how Elvis enunciates so well. Thank you for your response to Elvis.
Elvis Presley
"IF I Can Dream"
68 Comeback Special
(White Suit)
This was Elvis's Powerful and Heartfelt Tribute to Dr Martin Luther King Jr after his Assasination in Memphis Tennessee where Elvis Lived. It was based on MLK's "I Have A Dream Speech" it was also Dedicated to Robert Kennedy who was also Assasinated that same year. This was During the Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War, These were Troubled times in America.
❤
When Elvis said "Whaaat!" @5:57 he was absolutely using this song to express his personal madness from his heart and send a message. Normally he said, "Thank you ver much" at the end of his songs with a smile, this one and the one recorded after MLK died, "Dream" he was visibly upset.
I never lived in a ghetto but still I think this song is beautiful because speaks the truth. A big Ciao! from Italy.
His other song " if I can Dream" is in tribute to MLK.
Sissy Houston was one of the backup vocals, Whitney Houston's mom
Always breaks my heart 😪
Elvis was born and raised to his teens in a ghetto outside Tupelo Mississippi in 1932
I'm from St. Louis too. New subscriber
React to... (Elvis Presley & The Black Community - That Echo Will Never Die) it is deep
Elvis Presley came from Tupelo Mississippi and was poor for a long time. His family went to a Baptist church which was mostly black. Elvis Presley grew up not knowing racism or color. The man was incredible.
Elvis was born and raised in Ghetto conditions and lived that way for years in a 2 room house.
This men is the best ever ever 👑🙏❤
a lot of people don't know the awesome connection Elvis had with the Black Community.
RE: your comment abt his Black B/G singers… true story: back in 1970 he was booked to play Houston, TX. The promoters told him he could just leave his Black girls behind. He replied that if they weren’t welcome, then he wasn’t coming either. So yes, he definitely stood up for all people.
Elvis Presley If I can dream 1968 comeback special white suit it's a tribute to Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy both of us assassinated
❤
One of his backup singers was Whitney Houston's mother Cissy Houston
Great reaction! I’m subscribing to your channel because you’re from St Louis. Me too. I grew up by the airport. Lol, I’m way older than you though.
One of the most meaningful lines in all of music: "... he's gonna be an angry young man some day ..." The cycle! The cycle!
I don't have much to say in that direction but I was a child in the sixties and I can tell you that things were really rough.
Wow! You live 2.5 hrs east of me as I’m in Columbia. This song needs to be played for Congress because the problem has only gotten worse since Mac Davis wrote this song back in 1968.
Elvis was born in extreme poverty during the Great Depression in a shot gun shanty on the wrong side of the tracks in
East Tupelo.
If you haven't already check out Elvis and the Black Community
Beautiful,
I'm a 54 yrs.old woman grew up in the projects in Philadelphia and let me just say.
Outstanding reaction to this "message" song by gorgeous Elvis! Thank you!
Elvis was a genius.
I've never lived in Chicago. But I've certainly been poor. My heart goes out to every child in a situation. This song always gets me.
Watch Elvis And The Black Community That Echo Never Dies
Mac Davis wrote this song. It's original title was The Vicious Circle. Elvis' producers changed it when he insisted he was going to record it. They didn't believe it would sell. Turned into one of Elvis' biggest hits.
Written by mac Davis. No one would sing this song and Elvis who came from poverty said I will do it
Rainey, I was born in sikston. Mo,. 2 hours from St Louis. Elvis was born in ghetto. Did you know Elvis had a twin,. Jesse garron that died at birth. 🌹🌹🌹💔💔💔
Wow

❤️❤️❤️
Its so sad that its still happening.
I am 62 and heard this when i was a teenager. It hit me hard. I still tear up cause every word is so true. There is so much heart and soul in this song. I am glad you did this.
Elvis is King. The late, great, Mac Davis wrote this song. Check out his stuff. And Kentucky Rain by Elvis.
Elvis always my favorite
Great jazz.
