Yes they are aluminum foil! It's a heating blanket. You can try to search for "heating blanket for guitar side bending" I got it from AliExpress. And good luck to you for your build!

Yes I watched that video, actually many times 😄 inspirational documentary of one of the most respectful luthiers! I wish I could make fine guitars like that one day.

Power tools: router, bandsaw. Hand tools: chiesel, block plane, woodworking saw. And a bunch of jigs, molds you can make yourself.
