Astounding. My grandfather had a huge model train layout that was a constant work in progress, and my favorite memories are running the trains with him. Incredible layout and wonderful video. Thank you for sharing.
I have never ventured into the smaller-scale stuff yet, I love the idea of having a more broad layout having a smaller scale and I also like the idea of putting it on a table with a smaller tree. I really want to make one myself this was awesome, thank you!
Thanks John for the feedback. Unfortunately the only media I captured at the time was timelapse. About 80,000 RAW still images, so no real way to present the info as a real time tutorial. As to the plans, they are still thumb tacked to the wall of my garage. I will see if I can find my digital plans and I'll post a link to them in the description. With such tight radius curves and existing structures I knew I needed to get the trackwork right before building. That is why you see me creating the grid on the table top at the beginning, so I could map the dimensions 1-to-1 from my plans. It helped a ton.
Loved the video. I slowed it down in parts where I was more interested in the detail. I was also impressed by your "live" villagers at the end of your video. Bravo!
Merry Christmas! It's June and 90F/30C degrees today in Vancouver. I thought the snow would make me feel a bit cooler for awhile, but it didn't. I like the curves in the track run.
What tremendous creativity you have! Such an inspiration as I am just now beginning the build the foundation for my Christmas N scale layout. The people waving at the end are a nice surprise. Wonderful video!!! Thank you so much for posting it.
Thanks! It helps having the production tools that I leverage for work available for goofy videos like this. Not everyone can set up a 4K green screen in their garage for the ending shot. :)
I think I’m doing worst this year. We have the tree up and tracks and snow blankets on the floor. The layout is an 8 figure track and hard to do the lights in the houses. My train set is the polar express o gauge
Amazing! And so inspiring! My boyfriend and I are just starting our own Christmas layout in HO scale- not sure if we'll get close to this but saving this video for reference. Thanks for sharing!
Lauren Klich HO is the way to go. I built one for my grandson last year and it came out great for being my first project.Check out tree roots for trees I got the idea from a video they are very realistic.
What a wonderful video! I tend to be An Ebenezer but love the villages. Thanks. And a note to the 54(at the time I'm viewing) thumbs downs, learn to enjoy life!
Thank you Mike for the kind words. I don't get too caught up in the thumbs down unless the ratio is 1-to-1. Then I know I really didn't deliver what folks wanted or expected and the onus is on me to do a better job next time. The ratio is still running about 30-to-1 on this video so I'm OK with that. There are a lot of choices out there and creative work won't satisfy everyone. I always appreciate when folks take the time to comment, positive or negative. But, I positive ones like yours do feel better. Thanks again. Have a great holiday.
I blocked out two weeks from work when my wife was out of town on business (which is how I managed to move to operation to the living room.) I did spend about a month creating scaled drawings before I started, and that helped me manage things. This year's project is lighting things up in the town. Thanks for watching. And good luck.
Thanks! I love shooting timelapse. Shot it mostly with a 5D and a Sony 6500. The ending green screen & live action stuff is a C300. Glass is most all Canon. Check out the rest of the channel for camera and storytelling tips. Thanks for watching and for the kind words.
Thanks! With four kids, Christmas is always fun for us. Even though they are in their 20's. As to the dogs, sort of a poodle. Australian labradoodles. Thanks for watching and commening.
And greeting from Seattle. I had to send a screen shot of the Modellbau playlist on your channel to my daughter. Both of us loved that I was on the same list as Luke Towan. We laughed that I had "arrived". Thanks for watching.
Looks like it is library music from Pond5 called Rock and Roll Xmas. Not a very original name, but library music never has good names. Hope this helps.
Some are scratch built, or kit bashed. Most of my structures started life as Design Preservation Model kits, and I really appreciate their attention to detail. Thanks for watching.
OUTSTANDING!!! Daddy always set up the train under our tree every Christmas 💖. Thank you for the memories!
That was really fun to watch. You do really good work and, boy, are you fast!
You’ve created great memories for your family. Priceless.
THAT was amazing, and sweet, the ending was perfect! Love it! Thank you for making this and sharing it with us. :)
No Christmas Tree is complete without a trainset underneath. It just makes it that little bit more special.
That was wonderful to see and great that the family pitched in and helped. Marry Christmas to you and the family. Richard
Over the top... what a great story, video and train set.
I loved seeing you both make it happen , Absolutely Wonderful !!!!!
Astounding. My grandfather had a huge model train layout that was a constant work in progress, and my favorite memories are running the trains with him. Incredible layout and wonderful video. Thank you for sharing.
Love the Christmas display and your beautiful tree. It's great to see people go the extra mile to enjoy and share the Christmas season.
Awesome video... great playlist.
I used tree roots for bare trees .I got them from a creek bank .They look very realistic.
I have never ventured into the smaller-scale stuff yet, I love the idea of having a more broad layout having a smaller scale and I also like the idea of putting it on a table with a smaller tree. I really want to make one myself this was awesome, thank you!
This must have taken forever! Was fun to watch!!! Thank you. Made my day
FANTASTIC!!! Thanks for sharing this beautiful video story with the World. (Great surprise when the waiting passengers waved;-))

Great job Keller’s!!! Loved watching, July 2020.
Would love to see a “how to” version of this. I think building plans and a slowed down video would be great. Love what you’ve built

Wow.. so Inspiring.. I wish I'd seen this earlier in the year than Nov 26. WILL DO THIS for next year.
Loved the video. I slowed it down in parts where I was more interested in the detail. I was also impressed by your "live" villagers at the end of your video. Bravo!
Wow !! It’s amazing and fantastic!!
This was a joy to watch! Thank you! Merry Christmas!
Incredible video. Thanks for all the hard work documenting the build out.
Great video, even though it was sped up and completed in 6 minutes a great example of how much work goes into making a quality layout.
Merry Christmas one and all! 🎅
Just wonderful...🌲⛄️🌲
This is awesome! What a great idea to make every year!
So great to see it from beginning to finished project. amazing!
Love the train layout very awesome
This is totally Beautiful. All I can say is WOW.
Merry Christmas! It's June and 90F/30C degrees today in Vancouver. I thought the snow would make me feel a bit cooler for awhile, but it didn't. I like the curves in the track run.

Oh, Well Done!
And I needed 2 Years. Next Time I will work in Timelapse too. 👍
Great job.
Joyous! Thanks.
Red bull gives you, an awesome train set.
I just wish there was an N-Scale Polar Express. That would be ideal for your layout
Awesome
THANK YOU
1:24-2:36 What is the name of that music? Where can I find it?
I’m looking for someone to create a large display in New York next month. Is this something you would be able to do?
Beautiful layout aside, what is the name of the song used that starts at around 1:17?
Looks like it is library music from Pond5 called Rock and Roll Xmas. Not a very original name, but library music never has good names. Hope this helps.
That was so cool 6:06
That was a really cool video! Now if only I can talk my wife into letting me do this
Cool
This is amazing. Do you remember where you got the model houses from?
Some are scratch built, or kit bashed. Most of my structures started life as Design Preservation Model kits, and I really appreciate their attention to detail. Thanks for watching.
