i'm a sports card guy i walked away from my laptop watching some vids of card shows and i cam back to one of your vids playing and im impressed with your content your showing what everyone wants to see cards in the cases, giving the cards tons of camera time. I love how big of a comeback Marvel cards are making. I think the 95 metal set is my favorite. Trying to get all PSA 10s, but damn some get pricey. My OCD doesn't allow me to settle for anything less than a 10, lol

Marvel collectors didn’t grade until 2020 and 2021 and then psa backed up. Marvel graded pop is growing rapidly now

I love looking at this stuff but I would NEVER pay that amount of money for a card. That’s insane to me. 1st of all I couldn’t afford it. 2nd even if I could that seems insane. I don’t get it.

It's like bitcoin. Perceived value over actual value. They intentionally printer scarcity to drive up demand which in turn creates profit. The original old sets from the 90's aren't worth anything because they were printed in even amounts of numbers. It was just for collecting. New sets they'll make only 5 of certain cards etc. So everyone thinks that in 5 years it'll be worth a mil like charmander so they are willing to spend thousands to get it now. Problem is noone thought charmander was going to be valuable so it was natural scarcity do to kids using it. There is no nostalgic value in the new sets just forced scarcity to it's artificially inflated value. Like a pyramid scheme.
They'll all disagree because they are making money now but once the bubble pops it'll make sense. Same thing happened in the 90's with sports cards and comic books.

Fascinating. Who is charmander?
I choose not to view trading cards as an investment. Im having fun with the hobby and happily pay what i pay. People collect how they collect and i don’t pretend to know everything and tell people how they should do something. My advice, dont buy something you’re not happy to keep. If you make money, thats a bonus. Do people make money, have people made money… yeah, lots but that’s not what constitutes a sound investment

Dude you tried way to hard. There were charmanders all over your video, everyone in the card industry knows what a charmander is. You know who charmander is. I wasn't criticizing you, the guy was simply asking why people would pay the crazy prices for the cards. But after hearing you pretend to know know who charmander is I can tell you're dishonest. I don't collect cards and I never watch pokemon and I know who that is because they make the news for selling at half a mil and they are all over comic and card shows. I just searched your videos and you have pokemon card videos. So if you have pokemon videos and you're telling me you don't know who charmander is then you are literally only doing it for profit, not as a hobby.
I don't even have a dog in the race. This was literally the first video of yours I ever saw.

You saw all the unboxing youtube channels and wanted to get in on the youtube money, you figured Marvel cards was under represented, You made a pokemon opening video and a few sports card opening videos to get in on those youtube algorithms and recommended sidebars. But you have what appears to be a son of pokemon age. You can pretend all you want. But you most definitely have seen hundreds of pokemon cards all over youtube and at the card shows and know that the charizards and charmanders are the most valuable. I genuinely don't care. But don't piss in my face and tell me it's raining. There's no shame in saying you wanted to make money. All I was doing was pointing out to the dude that it's gambling. It's manufactured scarcity of shiny things and people gamble on which shiny thing will be the new "babe ruth rookie card" worth a million dollars in 40 years. So they all rationalize that their 5000 dollar investment now in shiny card X will be quadrupled. It wasn't an attack on you, just an answer to his question.

My logic behind an item that sells online, when the hype is on an item or character, that'll be the items top $$$. Then it goes down the $ 📉 chart. Once everyone gets a spoonful of the goods, they wouldn't want to buy anymore. So the price and demand will slowly falls until the last guy gets his spoonful of that item. Then you will have zero people wanting it because everyone who wants it has it. But there are people outside the internet that has a demand for it, but doesn't trust the internet or the shipping for that item.
So, the price of that item should always meet in the middle. Not the peak of the hype nor when everyone online has bought one
