Ty has got to be one of the classiest dudes in the hobby these days. Truly values the collector and the stories of their collections coming together. And even though he “takes the emotion” out of the process, you know he’s doing the best he is able to as a businessman, foremost, while also giving the best return that he can.
Ty, It can’t be understated how amazingly you treat everyone! Obviously it’s a business and you need to make money, but you always offer more than fair and it’s so refreshing to see such honesty and empathy when dealing with people and their prized collections! Everyone always talks about the collector and the collection, but not enough is said on how amazing you treat everyone and show so much humility. I applaud you and it’s been a treat watching your channel grow because of it!
This was an amazing conversation. As always, thank you for respectfully letting the collector/seller tell their story. I appreciate the videos and thanks for you work.
Speaking of David Robinson, I saw him walk out of a room at the Colorado Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Who knew D.R. was an audiophile? I instantly recognized him as he walked out of one of the rooms and into the hallway. I said, “hey Navy man”, he turned around and smiled and I spoke with David and his wife for the next 1/2 hour. He couldn’t have been any nicer! A total class act and one helluva nice guy!
@MeeMee-ih6tu i don't even collect, I have Star Wars cards from the theater. They gave and sold them when you got a popcorn or whatever, never interested enough, but enjoying this man's collection
Omg!!! I thought you were gonna scumbag him, and make yourself feel better by saying it’s all about business. This is my first video of yours I’ve watched. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier being wrong about somebody on TH-cam. Thank you, for giving me something good to watch. Thank you for being a good person. I don’t know too much about modern day card collector, but I know there’s a lot of ways people cheat other people and I’m glad you’re not one of them. Your parents, if you have a wife and kids, should be proud of you. And at the end of the day, at the end of life, that’s what’s really important. Good for you. As a single dad, who loves his son, like Rick, loves his daughter, you gave me hope on a day that I feel like I really needed it
Wow Ty. I've loved every video you have put out but this one was special. Love that you care about the people as much as the collections. And am I the only one that has cried tears of joy? Lol Hearing all of these stories of collections and how they came about is truly amazing. Thank you for letting us ride along on your fantastic journeys. 💪🏻⚾
I continue to say this. Every episode is better than the last and Ty appears to be one of the most genuine individuals on TH-cam. I still bummed I missed you guys when you came to my neck of the woods
71 topps pete rose gifted to me by my first trip to a baseball card store in 1979 in downtown Fullerton California. The gentleman who owned the store said who’s your favorite player I said Pete rose..he says what year were you born I said 1971 he says hold on I have something for you. Then from out of his personal box of cards behind his desk he pulls the 71 topps rose and says to me..kid I want you to have this card it’s my personal card but my gift to you. Don’t ever sell this and maybe one day you can shar this with your kids. What a memory to still own this card and it sits front and center of my card rooms! This is truly my untouchable card for the love of cardboard..to give is to receive ❤ refractor love
I can really relate to this Man - I love my Baby-Girl so much too! There's nothing I wouldn't do for her! Also, I think your # was very fair and getting those cards graded and back to him was a VERY cool gesture!
Wow, I’m really glad you were able to make a deal with this man. Seems like a super nice guy, but when he said he hadn’t priced anything yet, and came up with some out-a-whack values, it was apparent that he did price a bunch of his collection, just not at current selling values.
The 89 UD Junior was it for me. I’ve been hooked ever since. I think this card is true for a lot of 40+ year olds. It still gets me every time I see it. I used to carry it around in my pocket. I don’t have that first card anymore but I wish I did. It’s the only card I wish I had back.
Thats awesome brother!! And this is why I love The Hobby so much. Guys like you, that actually care about the people and the collections that they have built over time, makes it all worth it in the long run! And it's not the money per se, you guys will definitely be my main goal to be watching all episodes!
That was really awesome, and you the buyer are a good man, I could feel your passion for the guy and daughter, I got emotional at the end of the video, THANK YOU FOR HELPING HIM OUT AND BEING FAIR , NOT ALOT OF PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT ARE FAIR ANYMORE, CARDS FOR LIFE, KEITH KYLE...
I love the fact that you run such a feel good channel. I have to admit, as a collector I wouldn't make a lot of the deals you make. But it's nice to know there are people like you out there that still have the empathy for other humans while also loving the hobby. It's a rare combination and the main reason I watch your channel. Keep up the good work and I'm going to be looking for that Maris rookie :)
Ty. I was born in 1958 in Detroit. In 1968 my dad bought me an AM radio and I listened to every Tiger game. They won the World Series and this was my first year following any sport and my team won it all. I was hooked and my first cards I ever collected was the entire Tiger team with Al Kaline being my first card. We hated the Yankees and we called Mantle - Mickey MENTAL and we put his card in our spokes. If I only knew.

You guys are great, only card channel that I can actually feel myself getting choked up watching. Great thing you did going above what he asked. I really enjoy watching these episodes, it has taught me a lot about transactions and negotiations that take place in the hobby. The ones you see on this channel are very different than the typical transaction you see and/or are a part of. Ty does an amazing job juggling the needs of the seller and the needs of his business. Assuming people in these situations understand they are not going to get market value from CC, Ty is always fair and upfront with the sellers and it seems to work out very well for everyone. Great episode Ty!
Funny, because I also played the Earl Weaver baseball game in the late 80s, early 90s. I had the black and white Mac version, but it was fun! I always played at Fenway or the Polo Grounds using the 40s and 50s all-stars.
