Great video, thanks for being open about all the things in the fourth trimester! Moms get forgotten during that time when we're struggling the most! You're doing an amazing job and keep up the good work!
I related to SO many things that you talked about! I felt so isolated the first few years of having kids. I didn't really find my village until WAY later. Keep going to the breastfeeding support groups and make lots of new mom friends! I felt so strongly about the things that occurred during the 4th trimester that I created a whole course on it! I feel like it's as important as a labor and delivery class!
Omg yes I agree! I did take a mini “postpartum glow” class that was maybe like an hour or two. It briefly covered PPD,but I mostly just remember from that class like warning signs of your postpartum bleeding and what is considered normal for that (which is also why I thought I’d stop bleeding by week 2 😂) but I wish it had really gone deeper on the mental side. So glad you enjoyed this video! 💗
I can't explain why, but this video warmed my heart. I appreciate how candid you are about things, but also your attitude in relation to new experiences; trying breast feeding and being open that it may not be for you (but then ultimately enjoying it!), being flexible on the epidural, etc. If anyone ever asks me what are some things they should know as a new mom or supporting a new mom, I'll direct them to this video. Also as someone who watched your videos throughout your pregnancy, I feel you handled the placenta previa (probably misspelling that lol) really well. I could tell it was hard on you not to be able to go to the gym and whatnot. You had to sacrifice a piece of your identity for yourself and your baby, but that's really hard. We shouldn't take mothers for granted, so I saw your struggle, and I feel you did great. P.S. You said "I probably shouldn't have had so much Taco Bell." Girl yes you should have. You deserved that Taco Bell!
Thank you for this comment, you’re so kind! I’m glad you found it useful 💗💗 and yes so true, I’m really learning how much we sacrifice for our babies as new moms. But I think none of us would trade it for the world! And yeah Taco Bell was my weakness 😂
Jess your vlogs makes me so calm and peaceful, Thank you so so so much for making such a wonderful beautiful vlogs for us and I will always be your supportive🥹💫💗
I completely agree with you about asking how the mom is first. So my best friend found out her little girl had type 1 diabetes, and it was such a shock for her and I of course was wondering about her daughter, but I asked about her first. Because I put myself in her shoes and that would be so hard having to give shots and change her diet and all the things that goes into parenting a child with that. So, I just wanted to check in on her and she was so grateful for that because no one was asking her how she was handling all of it. Her daughter wasn't a newborn, but it's still hard to navigate new phases and stages in motherhood. So, I loved that you mentioned that.
Totally love this. It’s so important to remember as the babies get older, it’s easy to think that moms have it under control by the time their baby is __ age, but the truth is no matter how old the baby is, it’s moms first time going through this stage too. Such a good reminder! 💗
I might have misinterpreted what you meant but I think its worth mentioning because I have heard other mums say the same thing about their milk taking a while to come in. Your milk isn't meant to come in until 3 or 4 days postpartum. Before that your body produces colostrum. You dont produce a lot of it (because your baby's stomach is about the size of a marble when born) but it is extremely nutrient dense and provides everything they need in those first few days. There might have been another reason you were told to suplement with formula, but if it was only because your milk "hadn't come in" on day 1-3, then just know that your body was doing exactly what it is designed to do. All the best with your beautiful baby!!
Thank you for the info!! I knew about the colostrum, it’s also highly possible that in my daze of first few days postpartum they had me supplement with formula for a different reason that I don’t entirely remember 😵💫
