How To: Day to Dusk or Virtual Twilights with Photoshop Tutorial

- Here's the next chapter in my real estate marketing materials tutorials.
Fake twilight tutorial also known as virtual twilights, day to dusk editing, and more. Let me show you some of the simple steps involved in taking a regular daytime image on a house, and giving it some extra OOMPH and hopefully help catch some eyes by dramatizing the scene through simulating a dusk, twilight, or sunset hour.
We are using photoshop here, however many of these steps are able to be completed in free and open source image editing software such as Hugin!
We make use of blend modes, layering, masking, and some painting, but nothing too complicated at all.
After watching this you should be ready to make some virtual twilights of your own!

When you apply the lights to the window you say " put it on...and apply it only to this" (7:38) and you complete 2 actions without explaining what you're doing. What did you do here?? I'm stuck!

its those keystrokes that are second nature I sometimes forget to vocalize.
once we have that orange layer, you can hold "ALT", and then click on the layer below it to apply it to only the layer below (this is a super handy thing to know and do for a lot more reasons than this one example btw)
and then when we select both layers, I do a control-e which is "merge selected layers".
hopefully that clears up anything I've left out for you.

@@elanirving2438 this might sound funny but I don’t know completely. I edit on both windows and Mac but I only have windows keyboards. I use the same keys no matter the OS I’m in though.

Is there a reason why you aren't using the Select>Sky or Edit>Sky Replacement to replace your sky?

Reasoning - no not really. Other than the computer I do most of my real estate editing on is running an old enough Photoshop CC I don’t think I have that option. Truthfully haven’t even tested it before. There’s some saying about old dogs and new tricks that may apply here. Haha.

Not sure how you missed the lower roof corners sky by the drains, that you didn't cut out, it's so bright and obvious, it's the only thing I could think about for the rest of the video, just hoping to see if you'll fix those at some point, but nope...
good eye, maybe you should be giving the tutorial! haha.
if you see the frame at the beginning of the video, that was the version I delivered and I probably glossed over that small spot while trying to vocalize everything I was doing for the tutorial version while keeping it brief as possible.
