    Maybe you're not aware of it but Petry's dad was a famous Detroit Tiger.

      Yep, and he got an assist tonight. Also, Husso's save percentage all year sucks, DeBrincat is slumping, and the Wings need to stop trying to catch up in 3rd periods. That's all food for the next video. Give Reimer the reigns for a while and mix up lines a bit. Put Debrincat down a line for a couple games to see what happens.@@HealthyScratchRedWingsReport

    I think Petry is an upgrade from Lindstrom, tbh. He's also actually physical, which is nice.
    I am a 34 year old hockey player, and I can definitely say there's a mental decline that attaches to the physical decline. Your ability to keep your cardio affects your brain, and your general slow-down to your mental performance affects the ability to make the right play. I can't pull out the 'snap reactions' I used to. Even 5 years younger, I could dangle half a team in bear league. Not so much now.

    My one guy that drives me crazy is also one of my favorite players on the Wings. That would be our star defenseman Moritz Seider. As much as I appreciate his skill and play-making, his reluctance to take the shot on the power-play makes me nuts. His teammates will set him up in perfect position to take the slap shot with traffic in front of the net, and he refuses to take the shot. Instead he passes to someone one the wing who is not in good scoring position. Don't get me wrong, I still love this guy. However, the coaches need to tell him to shoot more when he is set up like that.

      100%. It's frustrating to see him pass up prime shooting opportunities, likely because he's so concerned about putting off the shinpads for a breakaway the other way. But he needs to be a little more aggressive with his shooting, esp on the power play. That's probably why he is on the second PP team now

      he is doing exactly what coach asks of him, his role will change when the time comes

    I didn’t get Ericsson’s deal. He showed promise in those early years defensively and even if he didn’t develop much offensively (even though he had a rocket of a shot) I figured well that’s fine, at least he’ll become a really solid defensive player that can log lots of minutes and maybe be our best penalty killer. Then he just slowly became a pylon and I just don’t understand why he was regressing as a player.

    Simon shoulda been in Petrys spot. Dunno why he got signed

    Petry has received more healthy scratches than any other player on the roster as far as I can see. And I can see why.

    To be fair, he's still better than Lindstrom and I think Petry is capable of playing better for sure still. However we have Edvinsson so in hindsight maybe wouldn't of been best to add him. But also adding Petry was good at the time because of Chiarot insurance. I figured he would play so bad we could bench him most nights but he's surprisingly been meh. That's a big win. Can't complain much, things have gone well overall for the wings this year thus far

      Good point, definitely better than Lindstrom but that isn't too hard lol. I hope he trends a positive direction

    Nah Bushy, I went to a game with my girlfriend at the time and I remember Ericsson making 3 giveaways within the first minute. It was almost miraculous but it was just his gift lmao.

    I haven’t noticed this about Petry. I’ve noticed him being physical and playing well. However, I’m a bit concerned about myself watching a video of some dork pretending to be a Red Wings spokesman. Please tell me you didn’t set up your basement into a pretend studio.

    Bushy you HAVE to talk about Copp just standing at the blue line everytime he's on the ice. STANDING doing absolutely nothing. Way worse then this petry topic imo.

    • @HealthyScratchRedWingsReport
      @HealthyScratchRedWingsReport  ปีที่แล้ว

      haha that might be on my list of topics! Copp could have 15 goals already if he had any hands or foot speed

    Petry has absolutely played well with other teams, though there was a general feeling that he performed poorly for Montreal, last year. I don't know if something is wrong with him, or he's just s poor fit in Detroit.

  • @jjcalvillo
    @jjcalvillo ปีที่แล้ว

    Petry isn’t a step slow, he’s 5 steps slow, which is gonna cause him to take penalties. Meanwhile there are guys in Grand Rapids who could be getting some experience.

    Do you think the rotation is hurting Petry? Maybe he's just butt hurt about it. I do agree with you, though. He's frustrating to watch. I would rather have any other d man but him on the ice right now.

    • @HealthyScratchRedWingsReport
      @HealthyScratchRedWingsReport  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The rotation doesn't seem to hurt Maatta and Holl at all so I don't think so. If you're in the game you have to perform and he just isn't

  • @achillesninja
    @achillesninja ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Petry is worse. Just ices the puck randomly. Can't pass. Can't make any plays

  • @caseyhoward6638
    @caseyhoward6638 ปีที่แล้ว

    You may not like Petry and he may at times play loose with the puck. But he is a good defenseman. Keep in mind that half the team is new. He’s one guy trying to gel and find his identity in this team while half the roster is trying to figure out the same thing. Some players gel quickly and some don’t. He’s not a bad player because of that, he’s just figuring it out. If this was the end of the year and he’d played horribly all year then I might start to agree, but, I have no doubt he will improve, the team chemistry as a whole will improve and the red wings will get tougher defensively the longer they play together. Calling him the next Ericsson is a stretch and saying he’s holding back our young defense core isn’t very logical either. If they are good enough to play in the nhl then they can earn their spot. Having a veteran D core full of nhl players has transformed our team. Petry isn’t putting up numbers anymore, that’s not his role. He’ll work the kinks out and if we make the playoffs, he’ll likely be a big part of it. No sub from me
