  • I haven't really talked about our KFI Poly Pro snow plow, and I think I should.
We've owned this plow for several years, and love it. It's a relatively big plow for an ATV or UTV, but the General has plenty of power to push it. Width is 84" (7 feet) and the blade itself is 21" tall.
The first year we owned it, we broke the winch cable multiple times, seemed like every time we used the plow, but maybe it wasn't that often. I then switched out the OEM fairlead for a pulley-style sold by KFI, and the cable issue went away.
When you buy a plow, it comes in three pieces:
    The plow blade
    A push tube assembly
    Mounting bracket
The push tube assembly and bracket are specific to your machine, consult with your favorite retailer or KFI directly to determine which ones you need.
Overall, this plow is a beast, and complements the excellent power and capabilities of the General. I would highly recommend a Poly Pro snow plow.

For trucks the poly plows are usually heavier than steel plows due to more steel reinforcements for the poly. The major advantage for the poly is the snow doesn't stick to it like the steel

That’s good to know, and makes sense.

I just talked to a guy at KFI and I thought the poly was lighter but it is not. I was surprised. I ordered one yestarday for my utv Viking 700.

I was surprised it wasn’t lighter, also. It’s been a good plow for us, it’s tough and moves a lot of snow. The new push tube is a big improvement, looks much stronger than the original. I recommend their pulley fairlead, or one like it, if you didn’t already get it.

I can see where the poly would be helpful on a lighter weight vehicle and just as you mentioned moving it around. Great review ponycar

Great video. Any concerns with damaging the frame on the General? I always hear people say that plows damage sxs frames.

@@renegoudreau8578 That's a great question. I haven't been too concerned about it, but should probably keep a closer eye on it. The KFI plow mount attaches to the same location as the Polaris branded plow, and I'd expect them to reinforce the frame to accommodate it. It's not impossible to overstress the entire system by ramming a big pile of snow, but normal plowing isn't a concern (to me). I appreciate you mentioning it, definitely something to be concerned about.

Poly blades are 25% heavier not lighter. As far as your steel cable I’d suggest a synthetic toe and different fairlead with a rubber strap stop. Saved out atv plow from bending or breaking things.

I'll look into that, thank you. I revised it for this year, but didn't use it enough to know whether it should stay that way. We're very happy with the plow itself, but the interface with our winch isn't the best. I appreciate the comments!
