  • Hey TH-cam, Jim here! Welcome to Top10Archive! Celtic tribes span many lands - primarily Wales, Ireland, and Scotland - and though the beliefs may have altered slightly from one region to the next, they all looked up to a group of supreme deities. We’ve taken the liberty of hand-picking the most notable of these beings, ten gods and goddesses of Celtic mythology.

Love these types of educational videos, especially with mythology, but if there's one thing I have to add is that when doing more for the future please research and properly find out how to pronounce the names
Loved the spreading of my countries routes along with the other Celtic regions besides Ireland (some where still left out), but the pronunciation of the names was a lil sour note in my opinion, I don't speak for all but I rather not have others becoming interested in the mythology thinking that's how they are pronounce, and better yet that how we speak
    Great video though!
    Keep it up!

I’m quite impressed by the expectations for a “free to watch content” on TH-cam ...just wondering what would be the reaction for a show on the history channel. I respect the different legitimate opinions and “corrections/suggestions/complaints”...I just don’t quite get the hate over a simple video.

This was very impressive-- especially to those of us who follow paths of Celtic spirituality. I would have wished you would have metioned Midhir, Lord of Justice, whom tbe world so desperately needs right now. Thank you for being respectful, and not treating our Dieties lightly or dismissively, or our sacred texts as "myths and legends of old pagan times". Judged by the same criteria, the Old Testament is a collection of rabbinical fairy tales, and Jesus is about as real as Lugh Lamhfada.

    • @urseliusurgel4365

But that just means 'Bran the Blessed', Brân itself, means 'raven'. Ones missing from the list include, Gofannon, the smith and Mannanan Mac Lir the sea god, and the continentally attested gods: Taranis, the thunderer, Belenus and Cernunnos, the antlered god, who bears the torc and the ram-headed serpent.

There are no tribes in Europe anymore, nevermind Ireland. AFAIK, hill tribes in Albania lasted until the 19th century. All of these are Gaelic myths, not Celtic precisely, even if they're reflexes of wider continental Celtic ones (ex, Danu, Lugh). Why don't we hear English stories being referred to as 'Germanic myths' believed by the 'Germanic tribes' of modern England?

im on a hunt to find the incarnation of thoth in other religions and cultures, through reincarnation he has made himself known throughout many mythologies, Mercury, Hermes are 2 possible incarnation and Enoch is a possible other, he's usually a god/person of wisdom, maybe he incarnated as a female in the Celtic mythology not positive its just research and theories but if we match up these gods and put all religions and mythologies and beliefs together into one massive puzzle we may get more answers.

Some of these gods from Celtic and Irish Mythology were turned from gods to just mere mortal humans when Christianity was introduced to parts of Europe where Celtic is.

Áine, Irish goddess of love, summer, wealth, and sovereignty; possibly originally a sun goddess. She was mentioned in this rough guide.
Aengus Óg (Old Irish: Óengus) is a member of the Tuatha Dé Danann and probably a god of love, youth and poetic inspiration. He is traditionally described as having four singing birds circling his head; said to have connections with the Celtic God Maponos and his Welsh equivalent, Mabon ap Modron.
Cliodhna Irish goddess, sometimes identified as a goddess of love and beauty.Like the Welsh Branwen...
Dwyn? is Welsh for either 'wave' or 'pleasant' and can be a male or female name?

I have nothing against christianity but sometimes I feel its sad that it whiped away all the rich spiritual traditions and esoteric knowledge which existed in Europe for centuries.
As a european, I moved to India in search spirituality... And I see they kept their wisdom alive for 6000 years at least.
If you search ancient european stuff or ancient cultures from southamerica or other places in the world, you see a similar wisdom too and even similar Gods and Godesses.
The diference is everybody else everything got whiped away by either christian or muslim religion.
Again, nothing against those religions, they have good points too and deep down good roots.
The only bad thing ws this " converting others" thing... Which destroy everything else around and all the beautifull ancient spiritual stuff.
