As a Yucatecan Maya I will recommend to pronounce the name correctly, for example the God "Cizin" it is pronounce like what an english speaker would pronounce KEE-SEEN

Thanks!! They're one of our more favorites "series" to do! We have a few more mythology videos on the way (already written), but we can definitely add Chinese and Mesopotamian to the list! We covered Japan not too long ago, and Aaron the Writer (Top10Archive's Mythology nerd) learned the most from Japanese mythology than any other culture. Most of these are just a review for him, but Japan was almost all new, so I'm assuming Chinese/Mesopotamian will be the same way - which is fun for us, because we get to learn a lot and not just talk about stuff we already know! X represented the "sh" sound in Spanish at the time of contact with Mesoamerica. So, no, not confusing at all. Pinyin uses X and Q and C in strange ways because it's meant to express all the sounds of Chinese with the fewest number of letters possible. Plus, in Mandarin, SH and X are different sounds that both sound like "sh" to the foreign ear. In fact "our Roman alphabet" sucks so much that we have to use silly digraphs for English sounds that never existed in Latin in the first place, like "th," "sh," "ch" ... So, I guess what I'm saying is if you don't like it, LEARN HIEROGLYPHS! :D
My ancestors gods were interesting. Looks like Greeks aren't the only ones with a God of war and Hunt (even though theirs was a goddess) I didn't even know there was a goddess of suicide...😅
