Here’s an interesting story. This Easter Friday as I was hiking out via that Dun Mountain trail, it occurred to me I’d hiked that trail 20 years ago. Like you, I’d come in from Pelorus bridge, (on a Saturday) solo the entire trip, stayed my first night at Captain Creek. I was unwisely fasting and when I got to Middy Creek (your video reinforced it was the same hut), a bar of white chocolate had been left there. I was lacking energy and fighting the urge to eat when the quiet voice said He’d provided it for me and that it was ok, this is wisdom. I needed to get back to Stoke for the Living Wisdom course that I was now one week into for Monday morning class and so hiked out via Brooke St to Dave Reddell’s accomodation that night. Thanks for showing me the path I’d taken and to help me piece that spiritual journey together, the start really, of a 20 year love for hiking. 🙏
Gidday mate, im loving the South so far, I really love the humor between you and Richie. Those bridges always freak me out with how wobbly they can be😂, Good ol number 8 wire and chicken mesh an a happy swing. That water plung at the end looked totally refreshing. Sandflies are definitely not the funniest thing to chill out with😂.
I was going to say it would have been a crime not to swim in that river. Super jealous watching along! I love the Pelorus. I grew up in Nelson and it was our local swimming hole. Now I am in Christchurch and there are not so many clean rivers to swim in nearby.
That dip in the river at the end looked so refreshing. Your fitness must be at its peak now. 28km done so easily compared to when you first started. Way to go. Hope Ritchie is over his fear of heights with all those swing bridges. Looks like fun.

Beautiful sound of Cicadas. Sometimes the temperatures are deceiving eh. Just had 7 TAs last night. 4 tonight.
Wonderful catch-up. Noho haumaru.
Those cicadas can be deafening!!

Partly to cool down and partly to escape the sandflies!

It truly is a privilege to get to swim in these unpolluted rivers.

Fitness is definitely improving. But I have to keep an eye on the weight loss. There is a fine balance for sure
Another fantastic day. Loving following your adventure.
Glad you enjoyed it
