While new to Baki what I've seen of the man thus far impresses me. There was no doubt he was boss of the Hanayama family back when he first got the tattoo, but I'm certain that he wanted to prove to himself that he was worthy of being the boss by wiping out that one enemy gang with his bare hands. And also to teach everyone else a lesson about who the best yakuza was.
