A huge thank you to Mike Posner for coming on Behind The Wall! Mike’s journey is one of the most remarkable stories we’ve ever heard-from being shevled by his label and giving away his biggest songs, to turning those setbacks into triumphs like his song I Took A Pill In Ibizia, walking across America, and summiting Everest. His resilience and wisdom hit deep for me and our community. We dug into the lessons he's learned, the importance of self-discovery, and how his challenges shaped the artist-and person-he is today. It was a truly powerful conversation. Mike posner saved my life.. live before I die literally woke me up from a depression I was in for over 15 years and helped me get clean.. almost 5 years on my 4 year old daughter sings the song now not knowing it literally brought me back from somewhere that would have killed me. If you could Daniel please show him this and just say thank you for me. Have a wonderful day and thank you for this video!

That techno style and bass I feel the same when I listen to kid cudi David guetta or kid cudi cookers remixes that techno and house genre mixing was dope
Came here from a TH-cam short and so glad I did! What a genuine conversation. Great interviewing, listening, and conversing. This was so wholesome from both of you
Yup! Its because he didnt get famous and just get everything he wanted. He got famous, fell hard, lost friends and family, and had a midlife crisis long earlier than midway through his life. Its turned him into an amazing human being that is just filled with lots of wisdom.
I actually became a fan of his after what he thinks is his failure, ‘move on’ is THE song that helped me make a very important decision in my life, I love him so much, and he is just so refreshing and human, and real and beautiful and just hearing his new songs makes you feel understood and less lonely. I love him a lot
Mikes only 4 years older than me, he played Vans Warped Tour in 2010 primarily a metalcore/pop-punk festival essentially. Cooler Than Me was the big single he has out at the time. I was only 17 at the time and I was stubborn as hell. He played under the stage at the actual amphitheater during my dates warped tour, I didn’t want to hear more or less pop songs at the festival. My friend ended up getting sick we had to take a break, I saw his set and was in love and it rerouted my stubborn mind. Been a mike fan since I was a teenager then and I’m 32 now. Loved this interview, this guy is so humble. Also a very personable guy.
I’m close to your age and I remember when cooler than me came out. I was an emo kid and like you I often thought down on pop songs. But cooler than me so damn catchy I downloaded it on my iPod and made that my summer song 😂
hes also 4 years older than me. 32 too. Same , big fan of every single song hes written and now only discovering how much of the music I loved he's written.
My best friend and I were at the Blackbear concert at Red Rocks! ❤ We didn’t see any promotion that Mike Posner was going to be there. After about 3 other performances that were huge on lights, sound, and images, it got quiet and dark. Then this man came out with scruffy long hair, an equally long and scruffy bread and a single guitar and one spotlight. We said to each other “who is that?” Then he started to play, then started to sing, and the entire audience including us all had the same expression 😮 of “HOLY SHIT THAT’S MIKE POSNER!!!!” He very much killed it! The acoustic performance of his hits and beautiful song he wrote for his recently passed father made everybody feel the feels in an era of when we embodied the expression, “Catch Flights Not Feelings” and for that I will always have a soft spot for Mike Posner. Easily the best performance of the night! ❤
Somehow YT suggested this interview to me. I’m a soccer mom and all I can say is Mike Posner is the man I hope my son grows up to be. He seems so kind , driven, and humble. Love everything about it😊
Damn Mike Posner really figured out money/fame are meaningless, made a platinum single about that experience and is now back in the real world with tons of new perspective and happiness. Glad to see someone who wasn’t broken by the system
This is so random but this guy is such a great speaker. It’s really easy to listen to his story with the way his thoughts run smoothly and just the tone of his voice. Just a nice vibe from him overall.
He's done some great interviews after his dad died and became so much deeper and philosophical. I think he speaks well because he's thought alot about his life
Mike is famous and yet humble. The way you both understood and communicated each eaother is soothing and relaxing. Great job. This deserves a follow not just from me but anyone who comes across it.
Theres no way i thought i would listen to an hour long interview , let alone with someone who i would have admittedly never imagined listening too for that long. This was amazing.
I was intrigued when he said that he went to college in NC since that’s where I’m from. This guy went to Duke freaking university!!! That’s super impressive!
Incredible interview and video man. My short attention span usually doesn’t allow me to watch a longer video without skipping around a bunch, but I was genuinely intrigued the entire hour. Thank you for letting him talk and asking such well formatted questions.
Thanks a lot for this! I feel like so many people have slept on Mike Posner for far to long. He’s been super dope for a very long time! Stoked have this pop up in my feed!
I love Mike Posner so damn much. He’s got such an intense vibe and work ethic. Inspires me a lot. Also, this is my favorite music podcast by far. Thank you so much for making these videos, they’re so genuine.
Mike! Your music was such a big part of my formative years. My first girlfriend and I connected over Cooler Than Me in middle school and your albums carried me all the way through high school listening to I Took a Pill in Ibiza. Thank you for providing me with the backdrop to so many of my best memories.
He is a great artist but it's great to see the Person hiding behind this artist ❤ such a gem💎 So inspiring and motivating and relatable 😊 loads of love and blessings 💞
This was an incredible conversation! I’ve been a fan of Mike’s since 2011 and have enjoyed watching his journey since then. He’s been through so much that could have otherwise beat someone into the ground. But the way he used everything to better himself is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing this.
I love everything about who Mike Posner is. He seems like a down to earth normal guy and is beyond talented. He has every right to have a big ego yet he comes off so humble. Every interview I've seen him do, you can tell he is locked in on what the interviewer is asking.
What a wonderful interview. I've also followed Mike Posner from the beginning and his growth and story is very inspiring. The moment between you 2 at the end was heart warming! Keep up the good work Daniel 👍🏼
Mike makes my heart melt. Seems like such a sweet guy. Their chemistry together was really nice to watch. The ending and all the pleasantries was so wholesome. Thank you, Daniel.
Great interview. I remember one of his neighbors giving me his mixtape and uploading it to my iPod! So glad to hear he is doing better I hope he keeps creating!
What a good podcast. Great interviewer. People don’t realize the talent it takes to listen and pull out the topics we want to hear from the convo. Great work.
The end of this interview brought me to tears. What a refreshing conversation and just over all genuine wonderful thing to have just watched. Well done
Hearing from Mike hear reignited me listening to his music. Knowing how genuine he is and then how genuine his music is makes it 10x better to listen to. They need to harness his great personality more!
Fantastic interview, this conversation has me going down a rabbit hole wondering about great artists that put out one or two records and then disappeared. Also the last segment of this video is so brilliant it has moved me to tears ❤
I feel like I would benefit in life from sitting down with a cup of tea to have a conversation about life with Mike posner! Amazing interview, I’ve loved Mike throughout his whole career, and have so much more respect for him now!
this is actually so crazy... my husband and I randomly started talking about Mike Posner like 2 weeks ago, wondering what happened to his career and singing his songs around the house… Now this! Very coincidental!
This was such a nice interview and honestly really inspirational. Never expected this level of emotional depth from the man who made songs i used to dance to in middle school
This randomly popped up and I’m so happy it did. Mike is a breath of fresh air, his positivity radiates through the screen. I listened to “Cooler Than Me” and “Please Don’t Go” on repeat for a year after it came out when I was in high school. Now I’m going back and listening again. Wishing nothing but blessings for Mike 🙏🏻
One of the most impactful podcasts I have ever listened to in my life! Like Mike said, you have a gift Daniel. A gift of bringing out the most of a person and making them feel safe to share their full truth. Mike Posner is and will always be a legend! Can’t thank you two enough for this one
I stumbled upon this video and had a vague idea of Mike Posner. This whole interview was wonderful. It's really great to a see a genuine conversation occur in this manner.
I think I just fell in love with Mike Posner… what a deep, thoughtful soul. The interviewer did an excellent job letting him talk and had great questions. Always loved Mike’s music ♥️
Both of you wouldn't imagine the influence this interview and all the little details of it have on me. Thank you both for being real, wholesome and real ❤
Thank you Daniel, behind the scenes of songwriters and music there is so much magic and inspiration to be found. Thank you for interviewing this person who has so much substance.
I honestly didn’t know who this guy was, but it popped up and I’m glad I watched it. Wise man. Very introspective. You’re a dope interviewer too - I can tell this was a dream come true for you.
Wow!! Such an amazing interview...so inspiring and motivating. A lot of wisdom and truth in this one conversation. Thank you!! I met Mike at my friend Dave Stroud's wedding and he was kind, humble and emitting a very old soul vibe. Love to see him happy, thriving and on the right path!!
Great interview man! This is how to do shit correctly! He let the man speak his thoughts and waited to respond. Very respectful interview. Thank you man.
I like that the interview questions seem to be well thought out and are taking Mike in a direction. But at times it feels abrasive as if you don’t respond directly to what he just said to ask the next question.
This was what I was thinking, beautiful way of wording it! His channel and way of interviewing is amazing but somtimes it feels he doesn’t listen to what they say and just goes into the next question. Also could be the way he edits who knows.
I just could not believe when the interviewer agreed with Mike that he was not talented. Like hard work is necessary a lot of time to achieve a certain level of success but not everyone can write good songs the way he can even with lots of singing, guitar, and piano lessons. Mike is def talented. There were also a lot of good questions too.
@@crazykooc3549 I just want to say overall I liked this interview and would def watch more with him bc he seems genuinely interested, listens and is kind and a fan of the music. There are a few instances that may have asked other questions about things and do think Mike is talented but that is only my opinion. I hope for more interviews in future.
Mike was legit one of my all time writers and artist. looked up so much to him and loved those videos that the interviewer was talking about. loved watching the energy and vibes of him making the songs
I absolutely love Mike Posner and always have. I followed his story of walking across America he truly is an inspiration. He’s amazing and I love this interview. He’s so authentic, I love how he said he loves himself now. 💕💕
I have a feeling Mike might read these comments . So.. Mike this interview was on par with the motivational podcast I listen to. In this interview you taught me so much about gratitude and perseverance. How you can be on the top of the mountain but if you don’t see it that way it’s useless. I’ll be listening again to get those gems refreshed. Your Radical honesty is so important. ❤
First time watching your channel and it’s bc I saw Mike Posner but man you are good and it’s bc you’re genuine and truly care. That story at the end was bad ass. People laughing at you in the beginning and his comment gave you the “ok I can do this”. It’s cool to see things come full circle for you. Congratulations on a great channel. ❤

Wasn't a massive Posner fan at the time, but found this fascinating and raw. He's a very likeable guy. Love the honesty. Clearly talented, sad what the industry does to people.
This was such an amazing, interesting, and frankly beautifully touching interview. You are super good at this and Mike seems like such a sweetheart and he's so soft spoken, he speaks with such kindness in his voice. I can tell how down to Earth and humble he is and how smart and thoughtful he is. I enjoyed this immensely and got so much from it!! Thank you for posting and sharing this with us! And thank you Mike for sharing all your amazing music with us over the years as well as sharing your heart and journey! 💓🥰
Never knew that a podcast can make me so relax, some podcast mostly iritates me and few are kinda funny and exciting but this one not only helps you calm your mind it also expands your understanding that its not all about your greatness or glory its not the same as being yourself and being happy not just being happy cause others makes you think your the best
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I’m not sure if it’s because Mike had such a profound impact on you, but the way you structure your interview, the phrasing and the deep research you show makes the interview almost emotional. It feels like you deeply care about the interviewee and you are great at letting them process their thoughts and emotions. Amazing interview 😊
Amazing interview Daniel Wall! I smiled throughout the entire interview and i didn't even realize. I appreciated the depth of knowledge with the questions you asked and the commentary. I grew up listening to Mike and now at 30 i was wondering what ever happened to him. Honestly I'm speachless to know he wrote so many songs that i grew up listening to, and i think i would have rathered him singing them. The ending was very touching. I loved the ending with you letting him know he commented on your toktok post and how it was a life changing giddy moment. Sometimes we don't realize the impact we have on others, and a gesture that seems so small, makes someone's whole day. You've made me a fan 😊
I’m sorry to hear how badly he got screwed by the label. All those songs he wrote that got sold to different artists and they were so big! Basically stole any sort of continuation of success because they were scared and looked at graphs… hope he gets stronger and we hear new music!
Omg!!! Why was I just talking about him and then I had to run here seeing a clip of this interview on TT!! Wow, great interview and love Mike even more. Thank you!
This is so cool man. You admire Mike and for him to come on your show and tell his story is so dope. I love how much he has matured he is so inspirational and so are you.
Another great interview. One of my old studio partners/producer friend DJ Klapton was always ahead of the curve and had the eagle ear and he put me on to Mike Posner back in 2010. Thanks for sharing this in depth dive into his life and artistry, Dan. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I literally paused the interview to go listen to please don’t go and I was back in 2014… 2nd year of college. 🥹
It was a vibe
That techno style and bass I feel the same when I listen to kid cudi David guetta or kid cudi cookers remixes that techno and house genre mixing was dope
Great way to put it
Gen z but yes 😭😭
Came here from a TH-cam short and so glad I did! What a genuine conversation. Great interviewing, listening, and conversing. This was so wholesome from both of you
…Me too bross and I am blown away.
So basically the best songs on my playlist were written by Mike, as a young artist from Nigeria am so happy to hear him speak
From someone who grew up studying musician interviews and podcasts I can say you’re on the way to be one of the best. Thanks bro
Wow, thank you! This means a ton!
He seems so genuine even with the amount of fame he has. You can tell he’s grounded. So beautiful to see ❤
Yup! Its because he didnt get famous and just get everything he wanted. He got famous, fell hard, lost friends and family, and had a midlife crisis long earlier than midway through his life. Its turned him into an amazing human being that is just filled with lots of wisdom.
@@TheOregonChristianand all that without the help of Jesus.
I hope he visits this channel and reads the comments to know how much he touched our lives as kids and inspired us with his gift man. Seriously
My heart swelled at the end I can’t even imagine how you must have felt. GREAT interview, super respectful, effortless flow. Y’all are gems. 👏🏻
Appreciate you Mattb!!! Means the world
I actually became a fan of his after what he thinks is his failure, ‘move on’ is THE song that helped me make a very important decision in my life, I love him so much, and he is just so refreshing and human, and real and beautiful and just hearing his new songs makes you feel understood and less lonely.
6:55 was so real. Mike is such an inspiration man, dude definitely deserves his flowers. Amazing interview
what a genuine dude. i also love that he was praising YOU on how far you’ve come
My best friend and I were at the Blackbear concert at Red Rocks! ❤
I’m the best friend and I approve this message! Truly a night to remember that we still talk about to this day😊💜
@@sharalew Aww, that's awesome!!
Somehow YT suggested this interview to me. I’m a soccer mom and all I can say is Mike Posner is the man I hope my son grows up to be. He seems so kind , driven, and humble. Love everything about it😊
Hes got such a lovely way of talking and emoting
Should check out a Lex Fridman interview, his are 1-6 hours long, but generally about 3 hours long.😂
Loved it! Thanks Daniel for making this happen!! and Mike for being so honest, thank you for sharing with us!
I was intrigued when he said that he went to college in NC since that’s where I’m from. This guy went to Duke freaking university!!! That’s super impressive!
I love watching these interviews and then listening to the artist afterwards to feel their experience more
He's so chill, and is very thorough and thoughtful on what he says. His story is inspiring.
This interview needs and deserves soooo many more views. I know Mike’s stories and experiences can resonate and hit home with so many people!!!
Incredible interview and video man. My short attention span usually doesn’t allow me to watch a longer video without skipping around a bunch, but I was genuinely intrigued the entire hour. Thank you for letting him talk and asking such well formatted questions.
Dude, he's an excellent speaker and story teller. Shout out to you for having him on, and shout out for him for being so open.
Sad to hear that Mike felt those songs were failures… when so many people have so much great memories from them. I love these songs F the label
Every interview I've seen him do, you can tell he is locked in on what the interviewer is asking.
this was so nice, i loved this interview.
i had to come back and edit because he seems so so so genuine and kind like dudeeee
The interviewer was fantastic! Great questions and giving him the space to fully respond and articulate himself. You are a pro!
You ask the best questions, every single one of your interviews has been amazing! Thank you for asking the questions we all want to hear the answer to
This comment means the world sirvitxl!!! Appreciate you for watching and being a part of this community!
Wow. Im blown away my Mikes character. He’s such a thoughtful person and he articulates himself well.
this is actually so crazy... my husband and I randomly started talking about Mike Posner like 2 weeks ago, wondering what happened to his career and singing his songs around the house… Now this! Very coincidental!
No it isn't , they're listening be careful 😢
It's so great hearing someone who is clearly a true fan interviewing mike
His voice and his emotes are so attractive and soothing man. I could listen to him tell stories all day
Thank you Daniel, behind the scenes of songwriters and music there is so much magic and inspiration to be found. Thank you for interviewing this person who has so much substance.
I honestly didn’t know who this guy was, but it popped up and I’m glad I watched it. Wise man. Very introspective. You’re a dope interviewer too - I can tell this was a dream come true for you.
Truly was a dream come true! So glad you came across this video!! Appreciate you 😊
As a podcaster myself I loved this interview. Such a great interview, interviewer and message
What's your podcast called and the topic??
Really enjoyed this interview! He is so soft spoken and seems very introspective and grounded. Very cool dude!
I’m hooked, the pace , the organic flow of the conversation. This is amazing. Thank you
I like that the interview questions seem to be well thought out and are taking Mike in a direction.
There were also a lot of good questions too.
he is young. he can still improve. relax
A really good and in depth interview into the behind the scenes of the music industry. Thank you for this!
💯 agreed
Same!!
The one with Jay Shetty?
@@mvzpodcast no I listen to Eric Thomas . The podcast is called secret to success
Mel Robbins is one of the best and I love her books.
thanks for not only asking good questions but also letting the guest answer uninterrupted. especially someone as interesting as mike posner

@@godsfoolboyyes there's one with Justin Tranter from last year if I'm not wrong..really interesting
I cannot get over these huge artist interviews, I'm so proud of you dude!
53:48 is beautiful. “If life wants me to change my purpose it will do so… and if I’m getting way off: in the form of pain”
Daniel! Your series is spot on - I takeaway so much from all your interviews! Thank you for doing this! ... and Mike P. - thank you for sharing your life lessons so openly! The interview ended too soon!!!!!
Wasn't a massive Posner fan at the time, but found this fascinating and raw. He's a very likeable guy. Love the honesty. Clearly talented, sad what the industry does to people.
This interview has made me love Mike so much more! He’s such a sweet humble man! He seems like such a genuine real person! 🥹❤️
When he told you that you were so well researched, Daniel, he gave you such a genuine compliment. ❤️
Man.. how time flash by.. i remember blasting "i took a pill in ibiza" everyday in my car.. what a time to live...
This is my favorite series. Hands down.
Thank you!
'Cooler than me' really helped me during HS while I was bullied, so his music had a great impact for a lot of us.
This man easily carried 60% of my musical childhood lol I LOVED all of these songs and had no idea they were his 😮 true talent ❤
