People saying about him blowing on the dial.. If you notice he's doing the sort of hot breath you might to steam a window as a kid or when you breathe on a mirror to see smudges. In my opinion he's doing it to fog the metal of the hands which is showing any dirt or marks which he then removes with his cleaning tool.
@Daniel Martinez. Every time he dips an instrument into the blue tack this removes any contaminants such as dust or particles etc. So when the watch is cased up or hermetically sealed there will be no foreign bodies inside the watch or its movement.
i have my dads old seiko 150 m diver. he was wearing this watch when he was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1976. impact was so great that it cracked the crystal and broke the thick band in half. this watch was put up for years , today i prepared it for use this old watch started right up .its on my wrist now running wonderfully . s/n 9203516. seeking more info on this grand old watch... thanks
thats a damn chocking story! That watch has some serious story. Indeed a old Seiko is bulletproof. I hope you can enjoy this watch for the rest of your life.
Looks like he is wearing a Grand Seiko SBGA011; the snowflake spring drive. They must think very highly of that particular model (which they should; it's gorgeous).

awesome job ! very intricate, delicate, full concentration and high attention to detail.
Wow! The patience to do this is amazing.
Skill, craft, precision... Zen !

Such precision.
Guess he was looking for the crown at the end. Lots of little watch building tricks on this video.
and he does this all day?... what a life.
What does he do with every dip in the little bit of putty with the tool? Kindly reply to this post for anyone who answers. Thank you!
Ya for example when he snaps on the seconds hand while its running you need really steady hands
are watchmakers supposed to blow on the dial? won't it cause moisture?
grand seiko is a great watch
I didnt know if there is a watch service in a train station.
@ndutzy31 Or back cover?
That noise.
How can he work on a watch with all of that noise, I would have been screaming.
he lost something... side knob?
It's so noisy. Who can people work in these conditions?
So my future grand Seiko is gonna have the watch maker saliva? 😂
Cool
The way he blows it looks funny.
Either that table is high or hes really short.
ImplicitFlower watchmakers tables are supposed to be high, to almost eye level.
Grand or not, Seiko has the highest ROI of any watchmaker in my opinion
