I've had great results using the 'higher closes' pattern, but as an index filter for equities. So simple but adds significantly to expectancy. Thankyou!
Great content! I just have one question. When you were optimizing the Harami Candlestick Pattern, which parameters were you adjusting? Patterns are usually fixed, aren't they? Thanks in advance! :)
Great video, when you say testing shows profit, I would like to how much profit in terms of percentage is good ? So that I can continue to evaluate the strategy
If you are talking about annual % return, that depends on starting capital, which will depend on each person's risk tolerance. So I can't give an exact % return number to you.
@@AlgoTradingWithKevinDavey say i am ready to dd of 40% so how much anual return should be considered to continue testing, I just started testing 2 weeks back and none strategies are able to produce more than 10% per annum
I have software that automatically chooses it based on my choice of objective fitness function. Not as simple as it sounds, this is something I teach in my workshop.
@@AlgoTradingWithKevinDavey thanks, maybe a more specific version of my question is: for algos that don’t provide exit signals do you set profit and SL using ATR or percentages or some type of signal?
@@markgamache6377 - I have a couple of articles on my website on exits: kjtradingsystems.com/algo-trading-exits.html kjtradingsystems.com/algo-trading-tip-dollar-vs-atr-stop-losses.html
@@AlgoTradingWithKevinDavey thanks for your answer but in the code there is some part like "if pcount =1 then begin" if pcount = 2 then begin" i am using another platform and i cant understand how pcount calculated. Best regards.

Thanks for sharing! That is great to hear!
I bought your book (entry & exit confessions), going thru it has helped me come up with solutions to entry ideas i was pondering on how to implement.
Thanks for the comment. These entries are all different than those in the book, but the same idea applies - you have to test properly!
Thanks for this presentation Kevin.
This was great.
I intend to develop some algo systems based on candlestick patterns.
Glad it was helpful! Candlestick patterns can be pretty good. Its really how you develop your strategy that is key...
Thanks for the video. Should we have multiple long and short signals in one strategy or have a separate strategy for each signals?
I put all signals in the same strategy.

It is the lookback length that the Harami is viewed over. Thanks for the question!

By the way I am testing on indian stocks and indices
@@ravividap1227 - With a drawdown of 40% you should be able to do a lot better than 10% return. I don;t trade indian markets though.
@@AlgoTradingWithKevinDavey how much better than 10% ? Sorry to ask to many questions
Thank you Davey!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
How do you pick the best parameter from each stage of the walk forward analysis?
I have software that automatically chooses it based on my choice of objective fitness function. Not as simple as it sounds, this is something I teach in my workshop.
Great in creating liquidity for the forex market. Well done...
Care to explain?
Thank you!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
How do you pick profit and SL?
Hi Mark - By proper testing and evaluation, not pure optimization though.

At 12:36 in the video you can see code with PCount
