Unfortunately, Kim had too much to drink, and probably said what she really felt, but she embarrassed herself, ruined the wedding of her cousin with that type of scene and she did not need to go with the physical violence. We can see through Kim's past actions, why the family took OP's side. At least she recorded the noises coming from the bedroom and that Courtney took photos of her husband's car for proof. So while Kim deserved everything she got, Courtney was extremely selfish in choosing someone else's event to exact her revenge. Not to mention manipulating unknowing family members in the plan.
While Courtney was doing things to provoke Kim ie by showing up with Fransis, It was Kim who overtly behaved badly by getting drunk and retaliating against Courtney at the ceremony. While I would be the type to walk away from Kim and James and be done, I think Courtney's act of revenge was justifiable and reasonable. It was also healthier for Courtney to exact her revenge this way than than to do what I would have and that is bottle up her hurt and anger till it made her sick. I only wish a part of me could be as creative as Courtney.

For the most part, it is an act of maturity and can generally be a good thing, But not always. 1) Sometimes not doing something to preserve your dignity can be VERY mentally damaging. And sometimes people in your life won't look at it as some act of maturity but see you as a doormat.
