Good review, I have the the Super Tool 300 and a Wave, both are great very capable tools. While the Wave has a certain coolness to it the Super Tool 300 is a more robust tool, can't beat it for the money. The wave will handle most daily tasks but the Super Tool will handle heavier chores and they hold up well. I actually have an original Super Tool from the 90's and it works just as well as it did when new.
Great review. I picked up a Supertool 300 a few months back after losing my leatherman fuse to TSA which I had for years. The leatherman brand has proved to me to the standard. It is just hard not to have it close by to me. Nice channel and I will be sure to check out more of your videos :)
A bushcrafter's dream. That or the Surge. I like that it closes up, as Israel is very dusty most of the hiking season, and the SuperTool 300 stays cleaner. My Surge gets much more gritty in the tool bays. Ironically my SuperTool from 20+ years ago is still going strong. I'd love to see a SuperTool in the hands of every boy and girl who likes crafts, camping, whittling or working with their hands. Maybe the excellent Rebar, a smaller similar Leatherman, for the small-handed. Try it out with your troop. Cheers and thanks.
I love my leatherman charge tti. I carry it around wherever I go. This Super Tool 300 looks pretty durable and handy too. You can't go wrong with Leatherman multitools IMO!
The Walmart by me has the supertool 300 on clearance for $79. The Wave is $90. I do not have a Leatherman but would like one. I think the Wave is easier to use with the blades on the outside, but I have no practical knowledge of this. If you spend a lot of time in the woods a tool like this will be used. When it is cold and/or wet the pliers will make short work out of getting a knot out of string/rope. Another great review Bryan. I appreciate your videos.
I've carried the leatherman supertool for 30 years as a lineman and in the military. It's the top IMO. Mine opens with one hand. After a lot of use they loosen up. Mine will flip open like a butterfly knife.
Good Video Bryan I bought a Leatherman at a Yard Sale for 15.00 about two months ago and I love it. I had a Gerber and was satisfied with it but I carry the Leatherman when I'm working around the house.
Survival On Purpose The dumb founded stare we both had on each other prevented that, hell If he could have held his breath long enough,I would have dumped him over board.
I keep saying I will pick up one of these multi tools but I just picked up a Gerber Suspension for about $17.00 bucks and I got it primarily for pulling fish hooks. I might break down and spend the big bucks though and get a leatherman. Thx Brian.
I also like though,it's in stainless,I love the slight recurve in the surges blade style, another TH-camr mentioned this,I thought it just be the stainless version that came this way,I like it wicked sharp out of the box,I've used it a bit, still pretty sharp, just some of my thoughts, also I believe the surge when closed, the edges on handles where cut outs for outer tools,I wished they kinda got coated like the charge, like g-10 as a cover, when I'm using the surge, outer tools an I squeeze the handle an use it for a while it does kinda hurt some what, could be a hot spot maybe, just some things I've noticed since I've had it.
I like that they've gone to the replaceable wire cutters. I've damaged the cutters on a couple mutitools and just been SOL. Don't know why they didn't think of it earlier. Good review, Leatherman really makes some great multitools!
Love my ST but to be honest I don't use it much in the woods... large belt knife, saw and lighter SAK if I need miscellaneous tools. Hard to replace a good belt knife and woods saw with a MT... just too small for my liking even though it would work. My MT's get more urban type use and carry. Good job Brian!
I like it. I think it's a bit overpriced for not having that nice diamond file other HD leathermans have, but the wire cutter competes with purpose-built wire cutters, combined with the rescue serrated knife it is an excellent rescue tool, and its size is nice because the market is full of weight winnie multi tools that just don't have the mass. The knives opening from the inside makes it more comfortable to use the tools, and less threatening.
Honestly I wished they made the other side of the handles more like the surge, also left the blade exchanger on there, other than that I mean I think it'd be better, glad I got my surge,oh, could've made blade steel like the charge s30vn
Great review. I carry a Leatherman Wave right now daily. I was strongly considering this for my bushcraft kit but think I will get a Leatherman Rebar instead. It is a scaled down version I think of the Super Tool. To do it over again I would have bought this instead of the Wave. This one is heavier by an ounce but I like the function of it better. I am not a fan of the removable bits on the wave or the scissors.
Nice review. Personally, I prefer the Wave. You can access the blades with one hand without opening the pliers. It doesn't have all the wire cutter options that this one has, but for my line of work and outdoor use that doesn't matter. Have you checked it out?
'mornin, Bryan; Great review of "THE" multitool.Have the surge & it's a winner all the way to the bank & back. Thanks 4 sharing this with us.Stay Safe & Well, Brother. Happy Trails From The Maritimes In Canada ATB Terry " GOD BLESS "
Thanks Ken. It's an Audio-Technica wireless system. Not nearly as nice as a Sennheiser, but it's a lot less money to drag around in the woods. Here's a shameless Amazon associate link if you want to check it out: survivalonpurpose.com/Audio-Technica-Wireless
I think your review was good. I have the lst300 in black, and 2 surges; black/stainless. I ed my stainless, and take both black ones with me to the field. check out R.A.E clips if you want to EDC either the surge, or th lst300. R.A.E clips are much better than leatherman pouches for edc!
great video, Bryan! I've been carrying multitools for the last 20 years and i love them! my first was an old gerber with the sliding plier head. what a crappy design! hahaha but i still have it and use it for the car. that looks like one useful tool! i carry a leatherman wave now every day for work. i like the knife blade position on the wave better. I've had multitools with the blade towards the back of the handle like it is on the super tool 300 and it's a dealbreaker for me, but that's just my personal preference. can't wait for the marathon!
Thanks Joe. I actually like my Gerber with the sliding head, except for the replaceable saw. it is not good. And I'm starting to second guess myself and wish I had bought the Wave. Oh well, Christmas is coming ;-) - Bryan
don't second guess yourself too much, Bryan :-) . every tool on that super 300 looks great. and the knife blade position is probably the same as the gerber with the sliding plier head that you had. my old gerber with the sliding head has the knife in the same position and it's where I realized I don't like it there, so, every other multitool I've bought had the knife in a better (for me) position (and I still carried that gerber for 18 years). I just carried a pocket knife with it. the wave is the first time I've had a multitool where I don't also carry a pocket knife and I love it but, mine cost me $67 and for the extra (sold separately) bit set, i'm in for close to $100 (I had better like it lol) now I looked it up and I've seen it going for $89. as much as I love mine, I could never recommend someone spending that much money on a tool unless they knew they would carry it and use it every day. I use mine everyday for work and if I lost it, I would gladly spend the money and get a new one, but that's only because I know i'll get my money's worth. if anybody reads the comments like I do and is reading this, if you're just putting it in a bug out bag or in your car, or if you don't usually carry one, you can get away with a much cheaper tool. the leatherman tools are just the highest quality. sorry I made this so long, Bryan lol. as always, I loved the video and I appreciated your response to my comment. - Joe
Great viewpoints, Joe. I'm not beating myself up, I actually took another look at the Wave and decided I made the best choice for me. You are absolutely right about carrying a knife. My Leatherman will probably never be my primary knife, so blade location is not as important. I just wanted a multi-tool for the versatility it offers. Thanks again. - Bryan
i am looking for a good camping tool i can take with me on a weekend with the scouts. i found some knives like the buck vantage series and buck 110 but i alsow like this multitool. and i alsow saw the leatherman rebar. can you recomend any of those for a camping tripe or maby you have theropsions. i lik to stay in the 60/80 dollar range?
I would but I don't have a lot of actual BSA stuff. Honestly, I think it is often overpriced and I'm not overly impressed with the quality, or at least the value. I have a BSA sleeping bag that I bought on clearance and it is OK but even my fairly new classic, Boy Scout Knife just doesn't hold a candle to the one I had when I was a kid. I'm not trashing BSA stuff, just telling it like I see it. If I find some good stuff I'll be sure to show it.
yeah i noticed that when i was gonna help with my nephew's cub scouts. it was insane for just a pair of OD pants... like $60 and like $80 for a OD shirt. not even high quality stuff either.
You callin' me old Jake? Or are you saying you're "one of them" now? (Just kidding bud) I remember when I first started plumbing I was like 26 and I was training with a guy who was 54. I told everyone I was working with an old man. Now that I'm 54 it doesn't seem so old anymore ;-)
Uh well I kinda am "old" now. At least to the youngins. I don't carry a leatherman. it's more of a surface sailor thing. We have really strict rules about tools in aviation. I mean REALLY strict. But it's a pretty common sight to see one of those buggers on the belt of a veteran USN sailor.
Got mine for work and so far, 3 months later, not a single regret.
I've had my Super Tool for a few years I love it. Good stuff.
I like mine already.
So this is mister 10:58 :)

I love my leatherman charge tti. I carry it around wherever I go. This Super Tool 300 looks pretty durable and handy too. You can't go wrong with Leatherman multitools IMO!
I have to admit, I don't carry mine everyday, it's just more than I want to haul. It lives in my pack, but I like it a lot.
I've had my super tool for more than 15 years and still love it
That's one reason I chose the Supertool. I figured if they were still making it after all these years it had to be pretty good.
Great review, great to see the tool actually being used in real life situations too. Keep up the great work.
The Walmart by me has the supertool 300 on clearance for $79. The Wave is $90. I do not have a Leatherman but would like one. +csh 62 thanks
Great video, if you like the blade and saw on the super tool you will love the surge with changeable saw blades
Cool, thanks
I've carried the leatherman supertool for 30 years as a lineman and in the military. It's the top IMO. Mine opens with one hand. After a lot of use they loosen up. Mine will flip open like a butterfly knife.

Wow, sounds like you got a deal Rusty. All I ever find around here is baby clothes and tube TVs.
Just bought one for 50 dollars. I like it a lot. Easy cheaper than the charge or wave and I like it a lot more. My new favorite.
Rock solid
Love the leatherman products, had one for years till my buddy dropped it over board while fishing a large lake,I now carry a sidekick.
That is a bummer. Were you tempted, just for a second, to dive in after it?
Survival On Purpose The dumb founded stare we both had on each other prevented that, hell If he could have held his breath long enough,I would have dumped him over board.
YOU MISSED THE WIRE STRIPER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CAN OPENER. GOOD VID. THANKS .
+mqa1963 Thanks.
Thanks for the tip mqa! I have a WAVE+, just checked, pleasant surprise, it has one also!
I keep saying I will pick up one of these multi tools but I just picked up a Gerber Suspension for about $17.00 bucks and I got it primarily for pulling fish hooks. I might break down and spend the big bucks though and get a leatherman. Thx Brian.
I have not tried a Gerber Suspension. I have a couple of older Gerbers that you can open with one hand and I like them
Consider doing one for rebar as well, just little smaller version of SupetTool with 2 features missing.
Ive been looking for my first leatherman and I believe this is the one after watching another great video from you, thanks for doing what you do
Thanks Michael. They also have this one in black, which is pretty cool.

I don't think all the models have those, but they are a good feature for sure.
Great tool, just got one a month ago, very sturdy, its my new edc tool,
Very nice!
Just bought one for $90 at Cabelas. Great review.
Just picked up the Leatherman supertool 300M.
Cool. solid tool.
Thanks, I agree it's probably best suited to urban use, but it still is pretty versatile.
I like it. I think it depends on what your intended use is. For me, it's not really EDC, it lives in my pack.
great review, straight to the point, but you forgot the ruler, just got my leatherman, love it, geeting a custom wikec holster made soon, thanks.
I usually forget something. At least it wasn't to hit the "record" button this time.
Great video! Was thinking about buying this model as a good heavy duty tool. Thanks
I want to get a Surge or Wave to play with.
Nice review. Personally, I prefer the Wave. You can access the blades with one hand without opening the pliers. It doesn't have all the wire cutter options that this one has, but for my line of work and outdoor use that doesn't matter. Have you checked it out?
Yeah, after I bout the Super Tool ;-) Seriously, I had a tough time deciding but the Wave is on my wish list.
The Wave is fine, BUT for us bushcrafters it is no good. No awl/punch/reamer.
Better to have knifes separate, I wish they actually did a letterman without a knife for more tools
Another great review. I been looking at them a lot lately trying to figure out which one is better. They are great tools.
They just have so many choices it's hard to decide which one to get.
Yup lots of choices. My dad carried 1 til the day he passed. That's why im having a hard time choosing which 1 to get.
I'm sure you'll be happy with whichever one you choose.
They're all great tools. Thanks again for a great review

Yep, the Surge is a good one too. - Bryan
Can't decide between this and the Wave
Nice review i have st 300 wave and the surge and micra👍🏽
cool. You might like the signal
Like the tool, but the sheath that came with it was cheap nylon/velcro. I've ordered a leather one and am awaiting its arrival. Enjoy your reviews!
+Brian Nagy Mine was a leather sheath. I said "was" because I have "misplaced" it. ;-(
Nice review Bryan. Thumbs up. Nice video sound quality. I'm curious what brand / model external mike are you using? ATB, Ken
Thanks Ken. It's an Audio-Technica wireless system. Not nearly as nice as a Sennheiser, but it's a lot less money to drag around in the woods. Here's a shameless Amazon associate link if you want to check it out: survivalonpurpose.com/Audio-Technica-Wireless
Used to be tip quality multi tools, but the've sold out to Mexico, and China. The quality reflects that.
I think your review was good.
I have the lst300 in black, and 2 surges; black/stainless.
I ed my stainless, and take both black ones with me to the field.
check out R.A.E clips if you want to EDC either the surge, or th lst300.

I will. Thanks.
I just bought one today payed $95 for it at tractor supply I’m now giving my 10 year old son my old leathermen rev as his first tool
I hope to get the Leatherman Surge one day!
+Brandon Tran Me too.
I have the surge before the ST300 but honestly the ST300 aloud you to not worrying about damaging the tool

This is a good one in that price range
Check out the Leatherman Signal! Or the Victorinox Trekker.
Cool review:) I have this one in black:)

Great review. I have st300 too...
Cool
What about the weight of it???
Great review! I use mine daily and feel lost without it lol.
Thanks Jeremy. I honestly don't carry mine daily, but it's always in my pack- just in case.
I had a better leather sheath made for mine. It rides on my belt all the time lol.
Thanks from Czech Republic.:-)
+Pavel K Thanks for watching Pavel.
Doesn't the bottle opener have a wire stripper on it.
I think so, I never really got the hang of those kind of wire strippers.
Good review man. Ya should do more BSA (Boy Scouts of America) gear
I would but I don't have a lot of actual BSA stuff. Honestly, I think it is often overpriced and I'm not overly impressed with the quality, or at least the value. It's a shame what they charge for poor quality clothing and gear.
Yeah, I am now a Scoutmaster again, and I still believe in the Boy Scout program, but I only buy what I have to from the Scout Shop.
Back a long time ago when I was like an e 3 sailors used to call a leatherman a lifer tool. Cause all the "old" guys carried one.

That makes sense. The sailors don't have to worry about FOD.
It’s sadly not made in the USA. The pliers aren’t. Only the body is made in USA
Good video, I don't care for these Leatherman tools. Some love it and I think that's great. Thanks for the info.
Topspeed325 I have to admit I was not what you would call an "early adopter", but they are a very handy piece of gear to throw in your pack.
YES YES YES ALL AMERICAN MADE.....HOPE THEY NEVER CHANGE THAT!!!!!!!
Indeed.
I have one and i love it
Indeed.
I returned a leatherman multitool once. Took 12 days after they got it in mail and multiple phone calls to get my refund.
Hmmm.
I just have one and I like it
lay khattiya Cool. Thanks for watching.
I feel like It’s more practical to snap it with your foot
u can't go wrong with a Leatherman. I have 4!
Nice.
This video was made before things became stinking cool.
If this tool does not have SCISSORS, I would not buy it.

Not sure what you mean. The sheath is pretty tight but it works.
