@@a2rc I must confess that though I always wanted that one HPI I could never afford it (well, today I can, but that's another story). So I was stuck with Himoto 18 CXP (Vertex straight from Taiwan). I got to drive some HPIs but it was pay-per-hour short lived happiness. And about 10 years ago I dropped out from nitro altogether. Yes, brushless. Today if anybody asks I always go with "never done nitro, don't know, can't tell" cos it was basically in prev. life. After I was gone to the dark side of 1/18 I have only 2 (ok 3, maybe 4 max) 0.8cc nitro engines left on the shelf collecting dust. I am watching all those videos simply from a Nostalgia standpoint. Thank you for preserving history and thank you for sharing it with those who never knew anything beside brushless.

This CRF is a brand new Pipe and I just like to show different pipes and other accessories in the vids, if I can (just for a bit more fun). - I think it is awesome that you have the same pipe! I still try to keep it growing when I can (engines are one of my favorite part of the hobby). I have a decent amount of engines that all need to be rebuilt too lol Right now I have 8 volumes of engine overviews planned. I hope that will keep us busy for a little while 😋 I really appreciate you taking the time to write and also for making your own vids Kings 💯 I’m looking forward to the Dyno runs

Thanks for the very interesting video! This engine is one of my all time favourite! Runs like a dream and very easy to tune. It has enough power to speed up one of my Tamiyas TGX MK1 at about 90km/h. Great engine! I'm just not sure that it's Novarossi built. It's not mentioned on the papers neither on the box, crankcase or carb. Recently I found out that it could be made by SH, which doesn't make it worse engine. The other HPI engines, made by Novarossi at least have "made in Italy" on the crankcase, and this one doesn't.
They are great engines and it is awesome that you had a chance to own one‼️ - I will say that there have been comments in the past, on who made the engine. The two companies that it truly could be is either Novarossi (which most everyone agrees with and most all the components appear to be of Nova design) or STS. - STS had an engine very similar to the 12RXS but, a lot of the STS designs seemed to have been borrowed from other manufactures. Unfortunately, many of their engines did not run like the formal engines with were modeled after. HPI already had a working relationship with Novarossi at the same time this engine was released so, I strongly lean toward Novarossi. - I’m always open to learning so, If someone out there has evidence to who exactly produced the engine, I would love to see it for myself. That’s a great question. - Best plug set for the 4BTT would be the CTO Novarossi turbo plug line. Some examples would be the CT05, CT06 and the CT07. I would start with the CTO6/C6TGC medium plug and see how it goes. If you can’t find them then ProTek and OS makes some good turbo plugs (others do too). Look for ProTek T5 and/or the OS RP6. Both are Med plugs. - Again, that’s a starting point. Depending, you can go hotter or colder. Just give them a try and go from there. I hope that helps a bit 🩷
